Editor's Notes

  1. Assessing knowledge and comprehension (e.g., understanding scientific concepts, explaining understanding of instructions, describing /exploring different theoretical methods in new situations to solve problems (thinking or mental skills);
  2. Assessing the interpersonal domain and fit to a specific job role / competency etc… This can be done through psychometric assessments, interactive role playing, combined with appropriate feedback can be used to change attitudes and behaviours.
  3. This is the assessment of demonstrated skills (that requires a human assessor to review the portfolio and make an assessment judgement.) Demonstrated by physical skills such as movement, coordination, manipulation, dexterity, grace, strength, speed—actions which demonstrate the fine or gross motor skills, such as use of precision instruments or tools, and walking. Involving the acquisition of physical perceptions and movements (e.g., playing sports, serving customers, taking phone calls or driving a car).
