This document outlines the course objectives and outcomes for an Earthquake Engineering course. The course aims to teach students about the behavior of structures during earthquakes, mathematical modeling of structures, dynamic behavior, and earthquake resistant design philosophies. The course contains 6 units that cover topics like seismology, vibration theory, response spectrum analysis, conceptual design principles, masonry structures, and modern earthquake resistant techniques. Students will learn how to mathematically model single degree of freedom systems and design earthquake resistant structures using code provisions. They will also learn about modern techniques like base isolation and seismic dampers.
