• 2 to 3 episodes of Vomiting
• Constipation for a day
• Cramping mild

• Frequent Urination
• Mild Spotting or Brown Discharge

Hyperemesis Gravidarum – Excess
Vomiting, need to maintain
hydration
Abdominal Cramps severe – to rule
out ectopic pregnancy / miscarriage
Fresh Bleeding per Vaginum – may
lead to miscarriage
Burning urination or pain after
urination may be due to Infection

5. Fruits and Veggies that can be taken
• Pomegranate, orange, Sweet lime, Berries,
Apple, Kiwi, Melons, Pear
• High Calorie: Banana, Chikoo, Mango, grapes,
Jack Fruit
• Vegetables: Potato with skin, Spinach soup,
Tomatoes, carrot, beetroot, almost all
vegetables are good to have….

6. Foods to Eat
• Better to take foods containg Vitamin B6, B12
• Calcium rich foods

7. Food Habits during
Hyperemesis
• Small frequent feeds
• Medication – Doxyllamine with vit B6
• Banana
• Bread toast, Biscuits
• Ginger water with lemon
• Vegatable soup, Fruit juices
• Avoid – Spicy , oily food

8. Foods to avoid during
Ist trimester
• Caffeine ( Coffee, Tea, Chocolate) , not more
than 200 milligrams per day
• Papaya, Pineapple, lots of grapes
• Mercury in some types of fish – shark, swordfish,
king mackerel
• Cakes, biscuits, cookies, chips and candy
• Raw / under cooked – veggies, egg, meat
Alcohol and smoking

were pregnant, it is likely safe to remain
active during pregnancy
• Exercising for 30 minutes on most, or all,
days can benefit your health during
pregnancy. Exercising for just 20 minutes, 3
or 4 days a week, is still beneficial
• Able to talk while walking
• Avoid body twisting, high impact exercise,
jumping, bouncing, too much exhaustion

13. Skin and Hair Changes during Pregnancy
• To take Vitamin C, E , B, Biotin , Zinc containing fruits and vegetables
• Pimples and Pigmentation- Vitamin C serum, Glycolic acid, Clindamycin, erythromycin ,
Benzoyl peroxide 5%, salycilic acid can be used.
• Stretch Marks - silicone gel formulation, Hyaluronic acid, Centella asiatica , triterpenes and
vitamin E ( Rich glow cream, Bio oil, Luciara cream )
• Hair loss - The most common period of hair loss occurs approximately three
months after delivery. Use shampoos and conditioners that contain biotin and silica
• Sunscreen – spf 30 can be used
• Hair removal: Thioglycolic acid < 5% can be used safely
• NO TO : Hydroquinones Isoflavones, Retinol, Aroma Oil, Hair colouring, Straightening,
Manicure, Pedicure, Sauna

14. Sleeping Position
First trimester :
Not to sleep on stomach
Sleeping on Side (SOS) better
Can lie down on the back till first 4 months
After 5th month :
Sleeping on Side (SOS) must
Left side better
Not to lie down on back or Stomach
Cushion on the back and inbetween
legs good

15. Intercourse or Sex during Pregnancy
• First trimester or early weeks-
Less desire
More Risk for some
Better to avoid during first 1 to 2 months
Once the baby is well formed, no problem usually with having
sex
However, Guidelines tells- Sex is not a problem
except in Cervical Incompetence, Twins, low
placenta, Pain.

16. Stress and effects On Pregnancy
• Mental Stress: Life / work
• Physical Stress: Life / work
• Good sleep, timely food and hydration
important.
• Travel to be kept minimum
