Business Challenge
Our client had following business challenges:

   1. Failure in Networks, traffic on Network (Bandwidth), UPS, DG, Fire Alarm etc.
      A lot of times due to activities like DDOS, traffic of data center network got blocked. In such
      cases it became necessary to locate the server under attack. It was time consuming to locate
      the server and its network path. UPS, DG and fire alarm systems were different applications
      which were not integrated, so monitoring each one of them was difficult.

   2. Difficulty in installing third party monitoring agents on client's system.
      Quite often clients did not prefer to install third party tools to monitor their servers. So it
      became difficult to monitor bandwidth and server services using monitoring agent at client
      servers.

   3. Time consuming OS installations.
      Installing or reloading an OS consumed a lot of time, sometimes around 24 to 48 hours. The
      same time was also taken to reset passwords.

   4. Configuration of network components and terminals in Datacenter was time consuming.
      Following was the procedure to reboot or power cycle the terminals (servers):
      a) Find out the exact location of the server within hundreds of servers.
      b) Confirm the selected server.
      c) Reboot or Power cycle (ON/OFF) server.
      d) Attach KVMoIP to the server (on client request).

       This process was time consuming and causing delays in emergency action. This process also
       added the risk of rebooting/shutdown of other server due to human error.

   5. Management of IP pool.
      Available and free IP’s needed a duplication check. Sometimes an allocated IP was given to a
      new server causing Disconnection of any existing server from the network. Adding and
      routing new IP was time consuming. In some cases IP used to get stolen by client within the
      same Datacenter, ultimately, affecting the other genuine client's network connectivity.


Solution

Here at ESDS, the same kind of problems were encountered by our Datacenter management team.
Thus we felt the need to automate our Datacenter management system. The result of whi ch
originated the "eMagic" concept. Being a major client of this Data Center company, we proposed
them "eMagic Basic" to manage our servers hosted at their Datacenter. This led to a huge decline
in issues related to our servers.

Looking at these statistics, they confidently approached us for a full fledged solution. And thus
"eMagic Basic" was launched for their complete data centre.

The following was implemented using the eMagic Basic:
    Centralized monitoring system giving notifications about failure in networks, traffic on
        network (bandwidth), UPS, DG, Fire Alarm etc.
    Remote control over the Network Components and Terminals (Servers).
    Quick and Remote Installation of OS.
    Managing IP Address Pool.
