Dirk Baron discusses a dual-credit geology program between California State University, Bakersfield and local high schools as a way to recruit students to geoscience programs. The program started 15 years ago with one school and has since expanded to six schools, serving around 350 students annually. Students earn transferable university credit for introductory geology classes taught at their high schools for a low cost. This exposure to geosciences has correlated with increasing enrollment in CSUB's geology programs over the past decade.
