Hans Slender
Lectoraat Praktijkgerichte Sportwetenschap
2. INTRODUCTIE
• Sportevenementen worden worden vaak (deels) met publiek
geld gefinancierd en geacht maatschappelijke waarde te
creëren (Gratton, Shibli & Coleman, 2005).
• Focus vooral op economische impact, maar aandacht
verschuift naar sociale aspecten (Chappelet, 2006).
1) Sporting legacy: bijv. trickle down effect
2) Economic legacy: bijv. toerisme, bestedingen, werk
3) Infrastructural legacy: bijv. witte olifanten
4) Urban legacy: bijv. regeneratie stad, misdaad
5) Social legacy: f/a cohesie, trots, netwerken
• Social impact > social leverage > social legacy

10. DISCUSSIE
1. Waarom focus van sportonderzoekers met name op de grote
evenementen die het minst vaak voorkomen? Hoe kunnen
we onderzoek naar regionale en lokale evenementen
stimuleren?
2. Zullen social leverage of legacy management strategieën die
werken bij het ene evenement ook werken bij andere
evenementen. Hoe belangrijk is de lokale context?
Generaliseerbaarheid.
