A ‘person' that represents 
your customers/users/audience 
*in brief
Why is this important? 
No.1 rule: understand your 
audience
“Right. So I can’t just whack a site together & 
hope for the best?”
No, silly. 
When building audiences you need to first 
understand them 
Sounds obvious. But it's often something 
that's left as an afterthought…
What’s the point of them? 
You use intel from personas to create 
a piece or pieces of content that will…
…in very simple terms: 
• They will clearly and simply highlight 
expectations and use of your site for your 
end user 
• They should help drive the benefits in 
a way that will be immediately understood 
by the audience
