Max is playing video games when his mother calls and tells him to walk the dog and check his sister's homework before they return home. Max discovers a stain on the new carpet and tries to cover it up. When his parents return early, they find cigarettes and beer that Max had hidden. His sister Alex admits the items are hers and that she caused the original stain, sparing Max from trouble. Max is praised for his care of the house while Alex is sent to her room.

2. INT.LIVING ROOM.DAY
Framed photographs of a young teenager appear on the window
sill. The photographs illustrate the teenagers as a
talented, smart and sporty individual.
INT.MAX’S BEDROOM.DAY.
A can of beer is picked up and smoking. A young teenager MAX
is playing Fifa against his friend SAM who is online. Max’s
hair is scruffy, he is wearing dirty and creased clothing.
MAX
GO GO GO GO! YES!
Max has just scored a goal against his friend to win the
game. The ringing of a telephone is heard.
MAX
Mate see you later I got to go,
phones ringing.
SAM
Quickly are you going to SUSANS
party.
MAX
Hopefully
Max gets up and leaves the remote on the TV table. You hear
the remote skidding across the wooden table.
INT.WILL’S BEDROOM.DAY
Max reaches the phone. He sighs for a moment and picks up
the phone.
MAX
Hello, Gregory residence.
MOTHER
Hello Max
MAX
Hello mother, how are you?
Max speaks in a warm and respectful manner.
MOTHER
Max we are on our way back home now
and will come back home shortly.
How is the new carpet.

MAX
Yeah it looks great
MOTHER
I expect you to have walked the dog
and checked your sisters homework.
Max putting on a straight face pulls himself together.
MAX
Yes I already have mother.
MOTHER
Great! I look forward to seeing it.
Bye Max. Father and I will be back
within the next hour.
MAX
Ok thanks mother.
MOTHER
Bye Max
Max hangs the phone rolling his eyes and places his head on
the wall again sighing. He looks at the floor and notices a
red stain on the carpet.
MAX
Shit!
INT. BATHROOM.DAY
Max enters the bathroom and opens the white pristine drawer
and grabs a roll of tissue paper. Damps the tissue and
leaves the room.
INT.LIVING ROOM.DAY
Max enters the living room. His sister is watching
television eating pasta bolognase, licking her fingers and
wiping them on her clothes.
MAX
ALEX did you leave a stain on the
carpet?
No response. Alex ignores Max.
MAX
Alex did you leave a stain on the
carpet?

Again no response.
Alex listen to me. Did you leave a
stain on the carpet.
ALEX
Oi mate, don’t bother me yeah. Im
watching TV.
MAX
The one in Will’s new bedroom.
Alex looks at her pasta, looks back at Max and lifts her
shoulders. Max rolls his eyes and takes a big breath and
walks of.
INT.WILL’S BEDROOM.DAY
Max enters the room and opens his mouth out wide. He sees
the stain intently, looking deeply, eyes wide open. The
stain has expanded. He grabs the custom designed cushion
which is only a foot away from him and places it on the
stain. Max smiles as he has covered up the stain. He removes
the cushion to replace it, but sees that the brown murky
stain has printed itself on the cushion.
INT.KITCHEN.DAY
Max runs upstairs leaving the cushion in the entrance,
enters the kitchen, opening almost every drawer until he
finally finds a cupboard with stain remover foam. A voice is
heard.
ALEX
Max make me a Pizza.
MAX
Whats the magic word?
ALEX
NOW! I will tell mum that you are
not taking care of me.
Max places his hand on his head rubbing them quickly again
sighing. Max places the Pizza in the oven.

5. 4.
INT.WILL’S BEDROOM.DAY
Max arrives downstairs again and sprays the carpet -
covering all the stain and beyond. He departs and comes back
a short while later. The stain has gone.
Max fists the air and jumps in delight.
INT.HALL WAY.DAY
MAX
Alex can you come with me please. I
am walking the dog.
ALEX
Why you chicken. Can’t you walk by
yourself.
MAX
Yeah thats it!
Alex sits on the bench and looks at Max giving him the stare
of death.
EXT.OUTSIDE ON THE STREET.DAY.
Max walks with his sister around the block. He tries to make
conversations but she ignores him by listening to her
headphones.
They enter back home and too there shock they see their
parents. Standing there looking at Max intently.
MAX
hey mother. Benny did poo and pie.
MOTHER
what is this?
Mother holds a packet of ciggarettes and a six pack and
points at the antique stained cushion.
Max looks in disbelief. The room is silent for 7 seconds.
Max opens his moth about to say something. Alex interupts.
ALEX
Mother they are mine. I am sorry. I
left a stain on the carpet.

MOTHER
Alex at least you are honest. Go to
your room I am disgusted by your
behaviour.
Alex leaves and walks back down. Max looks towards Alex and
sees that Alex winks at him. Max smiles back.
MOTHER
Max you have taken good care of the
house. Well done. Go.
Max leaves.
