Dr. Gary Cecchi is a winemaker at Grey Fox Vineyards in California's Sierra Foothills region. One of the wines he produces is a medium-bodied, low-tannin Zinfandel made from grapes that grow especially well in California's warm, dry climates. Zinfandel is versatile and while many only recognize it from inexpensive blush wines, wine lovers appreciate its red varieties which have flavors of spice, jam, and red berries from the grape's high natural sugar content. Zinfandels pair well with spicy foods and red meats when relatively young.
