This document summarizes a research paper on cross-layer design of congestion control and power control in wireless networks. It proposes three distributed algorithms: 1) A message-passing algorithm that can attain global optimal rates and power allocation but requires large messages. 2) A near-optimal algorithm that uses local SIR measurements and smaller messages. 3) A successive convex approximation algorithm that iteratively transforms the nonconvex problem into convex subproblems to converge to the global optimal solution distributively. Numerical results show the gap between the three algorithms is small, and the near-optimal algorithm converges faster than the optimal one, making it more practical.
