Dos and donts of a job interview

The document provides tips for how to act during a job interview. It advises not to wear perfume or cologne, as some people may be allergic or find scents offensive. Additionally, it recommends not interrupting the interviewer even if you think you have a great answer, and not having gum or candy in your mouth during the interview. Dont s
Don’t wear perfume or cologne. I hope I don’t need to explain this, but if I do…first, some people find perfumes or colognes offensive – worse yet, some people may be allergic. They don’t belong in an interview…except maybe (once again tastefully done) if you are interviewing at the company that makes the product, I guess. Once again, bathing / showering will pretty much do the trick here.
DON’T INTERRUPT THE INTERVIEWER  Even if you think you get where they’re going and have the most brilliant answer ever to their interview question, this is one of the most annoying things you can do. Give them a chance to finish.
No gum, no candy  Nothing in your mouth except teeth (hopefully) and other nature-given stuff. You’re there to speak and listen – without anything else going on in there. Once again, you want to show you are about the business and not your own comfort or habits.
Do s
Do wait until you are offered a chair before sitting  And do remember body language and posture: sit upright and look alert and interested at all times. Don't fidget or slouch.
Establish a comfortable amount of personal space between you and the interviewer.  Invading personal space (anything more than 20 inches) could make the interviewer feel uncomfortable and take the focus away from your conversation.
Be honest and be yourself  Your best professional self. Dishonesty gets discovered and is grounds for withdrawing job offers and for firing. You want a good match between yourself and your employer. If you get hired by acting like someone other than yourself, you and your employer will both be unhappy.
