Domestic violence occurs when a family member, partner or ex-partner attempts to physically or psychologically dominate another. It includes physical assault, sexual abuse, stalking, and emotional, psychological and financial abuse. Domestic violence affects over 10% of the US population and forms of abuse include physical violence, sexual violence, emotional abuse, economic abuse, and stalking.
