The DNS provides a mapping from domain names to IP addresses to locate resources on the internet. A domain name consists of two or more components separated by periods, with top-level domains classified as organizational, geographical, or reverse. The DNS works by distributing authoritative name servers across the global internet, allowing it to be scalable, dynamic, reliable, and loosely coherent while providing name resolution from human-friendly domain names to computer-friendly IP addresses.

Domain name is a way to identify and locate computers connected to internet
No two organization can have same domain name
A domain name always consist pf two or more components seperated by

 Once a domain has been establishes subdomain s can be created within the
domain
For example The domain for large company could ve “vni.com” and within
this domain subdomains can be created for each of the company’s
regional office.
