The Dolch Word List, compiled by Edward William Dolch in 1948, consists of 220 commonly used 'service words' essential for reading fluency in English. These words make up 50-75% of vocabulary found in schoolbooks and various literature. An additional list of 95 nouns has also been prepared.

The Dolch Word List is a list of frequently used

List is based on children's books and first published in
1948.
Between 50-75% of all words used in schoolbooks,
library books, newspapers, and magazines are a part
of the Dolch word vocabulary.
