12. Tell us a little bit about the experience of walking your dog(s).
13. Tell us a little bit about the experience of walking your dog(s).
"She knows the word walk and what it means. I have a trailer park in back of where I live. We used to walk her
through the trailer park with no leash and let her run around. Now they have people living back there and my
dog doesn't do well around other people, so her walks have pretty much stopped."
"I enjoy when I have time to walk my dogs. We normally walk the bike path (if it's not flooded) which is
beautiful during the spring/fall months. My dogs absolutely love to get out and get the fresh air. And I get to
center myself on the walk. It's a great way to relieve stress and unwind from a stressful week."
"My dog was a rescue and we adopted him because the previous owner could not handle his mean-ness.
Initially we had to walk to walk down alleys to avoid people and other dogs. We are now able to walk around
the park and sidewalks encountering people but not too good still with other dogs."
"It is a bit tough walking all three of them at the same time. I often need someone else to help me walk them.
We generally walk in the neighborhood because my dogs have been attacked at the dog park. They like the
neighborhood because it's quiet and at night its mostly just us out."
"They are so excited when we get the leashes out. Hopping around, tails wagging. We get on our way and
they get the first 10 minutes to sniff everything and anything they want. Then after they have had the 'sniff'
time we then go into a 'heel' walk so that both them and myself can enjoy the walk without them pulling."
"I have four dogs, one is deaf and doesn't go outside because she is scared of a leash. The other is very old and
doesn't want to walk. The other two are large and can't be walked together so it makes walking dogs hard.
They don't like to be left behind if the other goes so usually neither of them get walked."
"We usually walk our dog, pepper, around the neighbor for 10-20 minutes a day sometimes longer on a nice
day, for the most part its a good experience though a lot of people take there dogs out without leashes in our
area and my dog is so skittish that it comes of aggressive and people get upset when I tell them they need to
put there dogs on a leash and stay back from my dog because she gets scared."
14. Methodology
This online survey had 1,000 respondents. It was fielded from February 15 to February
16, 2019.
The results presented in this report were weighted by the following variables:
• What is your gender?
• Which of the following groups describes your current age?
• Are you of Hispanic, Spanish or Latino descent?
• Which of the following best describes your ethnicity?
• What is the highest degree or level of school you have completed?
15. Crosstab Methodology
Crosstab Table Notes:
• Only crosstab tables with significant differences of at least 10 percentage points are
included here.
• If the difference is higher at a statistically significant level, the cell is marked with
the up - arrow symbol ⇑. If it is lower, the down-arrow symbol ⇓ is used.
• Columns with fewer than 30 responses (i.e. degrees of freedom) are ignored for
statistical significance comparisons.
• Crosstabs with no significant difference greater than 10 percentage points are not
presented.
• To fit onto a single slide, some crosstabs have had columns without differences
omitted. See the spreadsheet for the full crosstabs.
• Crosstabs show only unweighted results.
• See the accompanying spreadsheet for all tables.
