Documentation

There are four main types of software documentation: system documentation describes the system and its parts; software documentation explains how the software operates or is used; operations documentation describes business processes; and user documentation assists end users. Documentation is important as it supports communication, informed decision making, reduces risks from staff changes, and allows traceability through the software development lifecycle.
