2. Overall
The documentary was a mixed documentary which included: actuality
footage, interviews, archive material and narration. It had a closed, linear,
single strand narrative structure and was based mainly around the theme of
family.

3. Camera work
The interview were framed conventionally to the left or right and
were usually in close up or medium close up.
When photos were filmed panning and zooming was used to
create movement.
Quite a lot of point of view shots were used so we empathised
with the woman.
A lot of the filming was done with a hand held camera as it had
to follow what was happening. There was also quite a lot of
tracking shots used as the camera followed the woman.
A variety of shots were used throughout the documentary to
make it visually interesting but also to emphasise the emotions.
For example when the mother is telling the story of what
happened and the sister is crying close ups are used.

4. Graphics
Graphics weren’t used very often and when they were they were very simple.
They were used once for the title and once to show the location. Both times
text was in a simple white font. While this worked well when showing the
location and fitted with the normal conventions I think it was too simple for a
title which is normally more stylised.

The archive material that was used was mainly childhood pictures but the prison
website and a newspaper talking about the brother’s crime.
