INTRODUCTION
Teaching aids are important because they create a visual and interactive experience for the
students. As the students become more engaged, they are more likely to understand the topic being
taught. Teaching aids assist students in learning. These aids consist of video, audio and hands-on
tools to help involve the students and enhance the learning experience. Teaching aids are an
integral component in any classroom. The many benefits of teaching aids include helping learners
improve reading comprehension skills, illustrating or reinforcing a skill or concept, differentiating
instruction and relieving anxiety or boredom by presenting information in a new and exciting way.
Teachers begin using visual, audio and hands-on aids as early as preschool. Teaching aids can be
as basic as a blackboard or whiteboard. Audio and visual equipment, such as DVD players and
video projectors, are commonly used as tools for learning with a very effective output. Students
tend to get more involved when learning if teaching aids are implemented into the curriculum.
Hands-on aids, such as computers, maps and other tools that require some sort of interaction from
the students, have the highest levels of effectiveness.
The tools are designed to involve the students, promote interaction, and promote faster learning
and better comprehension. Being able to see, hear or get involved in a topic creates a much better
method for learning. Teaching aids can be as basic as a blackboard or whiteboard. Audio and visual
equipment, such as DVD players and video projectors, are commonly used as tools for learning
with a very effective output. Students tend to get more involved when learning if teaching aids are
implemented into the curriculum. The main factor in the effective use of teaching aids is that
a skilled teacher is behind the tools being used. The teacher is the richest teaching aids
source because they play a lot of roles in the class. Teacher can be a controller the teacher
is in complete charge of the class, what students do, what they say and how they say it.
The teacher assumes this role when new language is being introduced and accurate
reproduction and drilling techniques are needed.
Teacher can be a story teller sometimes we can teach our lesson through stories,
especially for kids. Teacher is the resource the teacher is a kind of walking resource centre
(monitor) ready tooffer help if needed or providing students with whatever language they
lack when performing communicative activities. The teacher must make her/himself
available so that students can consult her/him when (and only when) they wish. Teacher
is a actor/actress they can act/play some characters in a story or the reading. Teacher is
Organizer perhaps the most difficult and important role the teacher has to play. The
success of many activities depends on good organization and on the students knowing
exactly what they are to do. Giving instructions is vital in this role as well as setting up
activities. Teacher is Participant this role improves the atmosphere in the class when the
teacher takes part in an activity. However, the teacher takes a risk of dominating the
activity when performing it. Teacher is Tutor the teacher acts as a coach when students
are involved in project work or self-study.
PICTURES
There are many materials used as teaching aids in teaching English skills. They may be
some things such as blackboard, pictures, tapes, or even be human such as teacher, student. As we
knew, children very like colorful things so pictures is one of the best teaching aids to teach
vocabulary, speaking, and others. Pictures are kinds of visual instruction materials might be used
more effectively to develop and sustain motivation in producing positive attitudes towards English
and to teach or reinforce language skills. Pictures attract children and motivate them like to learn
English so pictures are unlikable things to teach and learn English. Picture is visual presentation
of human, places, or things. The use pictures are more effective than the use words because they
are easier to remember and retell. Children can see pictures, recall and retell or describe a human,
a place, a thing or a specific situation that is shown in picture. It is much clearer than remembering
boring words.
Pictures are used popularly in teaching vocabulary. Teacher can use pictures to help student
be able to guess and remember meaning of words easily. The use of pictures make the vocabulary
learning more enjoyable and interesting because they can memories the meaning of the difficult
words by singing the song with the pictures as key words and without asking another person or
looking them up in the dictionary. Pictures reduce difficulties in teaching and learning new words.
Moreover, pictures are also used in teaching pronunciation and structures. For example, teacher
can give a series of action pictures and repeat the same question and the answer , That is very
effective. Beside, teacher can use pictures to retell a story. Children can hold the content of story
very quickly by see pictures. Teacher uses pictures to play a game, asks students to arrange the
order of pictures base on story she told. That makes student easier to understand and remember
the story and they are able to retell it.
In conclusion, the use pictures is one of the best teaching aids to teaching and learning
English. They not only make class become more active and alive, but also help student learn
English easily.
There is no doubt that images can be of great importance and relevance to second language
teaching, particularly for lower level students. Nevertheless, very few instructors seem to make
the best use of pictures in their classes. In a reading session where texts can sometimes be
complicated and uninspiring to students, pictures are one of very few aids that teachers can use to
grab their students’ attention as well as to motivate them before starting the actual reading.
Through this paper, the advantages of using visual aids in the warm-up phase of a reading class
will be presented. Participants will be able to absorb a great many ideas on the significance of
pictures and become aware of the fact that they can be a tremendously useful and convenient
tool. Generally speaking,pictures, paintings,and other visuals constitute the most effective,most
plentiful, and leastexpensive teaching medium. It is alsothe medium that is leastutilized. There
are good school-useful pictures in abundance, almost anywhere you look. Yet, we as teachers
are underutilizing this eminently useful resource. The old saying that a picture is worth a
thousand words may or may not be true. Used appropriately and sequentially, pictures can not
only illustrate a topic but also can provide the experience base children require in order to profit
from reading and writing and from numerous other learning experiences, including those
associated with art programming.
CHARTS
A common, effective teaching method is to use visual presentations in a classroom.
Charts and diagrams are especially helpful, as they enable students to see ideas visually
laid out in an organized way. Also, visual tools can help the students process content
and to make connections more easily. Teachers can purchase or make charts to display
around the room, or create a chart as part of a lesson. These tools are esp ecially useful
in elementary school, where children tend to have shorter attention spans.
Display a Chart
Posting charts or diagrams can help reinforce information that students are learning or
have already learned. Hang the chart where students can see it. Ideally, the chart should
be at the students' eye level or just above eye level. Use charts that have clear images
and large text. You can keep charts that have information you would use throughout the
year on display so the students can refer to them when they need to. For example, you
can keep a chart about the rules of punctuation on the wall until school is out. You
might want to hang other charts only during specific units or lessons. For example, if
you are studying whales for two months, hang a poster of whales during that time.
Create a Chart
Using charts during a lesson helps engage your students. Many students are visual
learners, so they understand and retain information better when the concepts are
associated with images. If you are teaching a lesson about caterpillar anatomy, for
instance, you might draw or post a large picture of a caterpillar on an easel and then
label its body parts while the students watch. When creating a chart or diagram in front
of the students, pause to ask questions or to invite the students to help you complete the
chart.
Assign a Chart
You can also use charts and diagrams as assignments. Ask the students to create a
diagram or chart related to something you are teaching. Charts are especially helpful
for organizing data in elementary math. For example, students could create a chart that
organizes shapes into shapes that have three, four, or five sides, which would be
triangles, squares, rectangles and pentagons. Diagrams could be effective assignments
in middle-school science classes. For instance, the students could diagram a plant cell.
Vary Your Charts
Try out different kinds of charts and diagrams with your students. Use a three-column
KWL chart at the beginning of a unit or lesson to help the students plan their learning.
The "K" in the KWL chart means "Know," as in what you already know. The second
column in the KWL chart means "Want to know." The third column refers to
"Learned," or what you have learned. Some students or the entire whole class can
complete the first and second sections before or during a lesson, and they can
complete third column at the end of the lesson. Use a Venn diagram after a lesson is
completed to help students compare and contrast information. In a Venn diagram, two
larger circles intersect to create a central oval. Information about one concept goes on
one side. Information about a second concept goes on the other side. Information that
is shared by both concepts goes in the centre.
CONCLUSION
Efficacious teaching methods have always been successful in drawing students’ attention and
interest. If you wish to be in this profession, you must be aware of the effective as well as
interesting ways so that your teaching can gain praiseworthy remarks from your pupils.
However, there are some fundamental tools, known as the teaching aids that can play a crucial role
to teach the educates. Teaching aids are considered to be the integral components of every
classroom.
the traditional processes of teaching have been replaced by the smart and effective methods. Smart and tech-
savvy classrooms clearly bear the sign of advancement with significant charts, graphs and even digital devices
that include TVs or LCD projectors also. Teaching aids offer a great variety, which in case grow the interest
quotient among the pupils. The reading comprehension skill is also improved with the audio visual aid. These
sorts of tools save energy and time also and these are fruitful not only for the students but also for the
instructors. As students get attracted towards the learning method, thriving classroom interaction gets
possibility. Such tools enhance the creative and imaginative power by letting the students get more involved
with the abstract ideas. As teaching aids are the substitutes of the original objects, acquisition process becomes
more meaningful and engaging. Teaching tools are essential enough to create disciplined and positive
surroundings by enhancing the vividness to that situation.
So, fulfil your wish of becoming a successful and reputed teacher but never forget to allow yourself
to be indulged with the modern teaching aids.

  • 2. INTRODUCTION Teaching aids are important because they create a visual and interactive experience for the students. As the students become more engaged, they are more likely to understand the topic being taught. Teaching aids assist students in learning. These aids consist of video, audio and hands-on tools to help involve the students and enhance the learning experience. Teaching aids are an integral component in any classroom. The many benefits of teaching aids include helping learners improve reading comprehension skills, illustrating or reinforcing a skill or concept, differentiating instruction and relieving anxiety or boredom by presenting information in a new and exciting way. Teachers begin using visual, audio and hands-on aids as early as preschool. Teaching aids can be as basic as a blackboard or whiteboard. Audio and visual equipment, such as DVD players and video projectors, are commonly used as tools for learning with a very effective output. Students tend to get more involved when learning if teaching aids are implemented into the curriculum. Hands-on aids, such as computers, maps and other tools that require some sort of interaction from the students, have the highest levels of effectiveness. The tools are designed to involve the students, promote interaction, and promote faster learning and better comprehension. Being able to see, hear or get involved in a topic creates a much better method for learning. Teaching aids can be as basic as a blackboard or whiteboard. Audio and visual equipment, such as DVD players and video projectors, are commonly used as tools for learning with a very effective output. Students tend to get more involved when learning if teaching aids are implemented into the curriculum. The main factor in the effective use of teaching aids is that a skilled teacher is behind the tools being used. The teacher is the richest teaching aids source because they play a lot of roles in the class. Teacher can be a controller the teacher is in complete charge of the class, what students do, what they say and how they say it. The teacher assumes this role when new language is being introduced and accurate reproduction and drilling techniques are needed. Teacher can be a story teller sometimes we can teach our lesson through stories, especially for kids. Teacher is the resource the teacher is a kind of walking resource centre (monitor) ready tooffer help if needed or providing students with whatever language they lack when performing communicative activities. The teacher must make her/himself available so that students can consult her/him when (and only when) they wish. Teacher is a actor/actress they can act/play some characters in a story or the reading. Teacher is Organizer perhaps the most difficult and important role the teacher has to play. The success of many activities depends on good organization and on the students knowing exactly what they are to do. Giving instructions is vital in this role as well as setting up activities. Teacher is Participant this role improves the atmosphere in the class when the teacher takes part in an activity. However, the teacher takes a risk of dominating the activity when performing it. Teacher is Tutor the teacher acts as a coach when students are involved in project work or self-study.
  • 3. PICTURES There are many materials used as teaching aids in teaching English skills. They may be some things such as blackboard, pictures, tapes, or even be human such as teacher, student. As we knew, children very like colorful things so pictures is one of the best teaching aids to teach vocabulary, speaking, and others. Pictures are kinds of visual instruction materials might be used more effectively to develop and sustain motivation in producing positive attitudes towards English and to teach or reinforce language skills. Pictures attract children and motivate them like to learn English so pictures are unlikable things to teach and learn English. Picture is visual presentation of human, places, or things. The use pictures are more effective than the use words because they are easier to remember and retell. Children can see pictures, recall and retell or describe a human, a place, a thing or a specific situation that is shown in picture. It is much clearer than remembering boring words. Pictures are used popularly in teaching vocabulary. Teacher can use pictures to help student be able to guess and remember meaning of words easily. The use of pictures make the vocabulary learning more enjoyable and interesting because they can memories the meaning of the difficult words by singing the song with the pictures as key words and without asking another person or looking them up in the dictionary. Pictures reduce difficulties in teaching and learning new words. Moreover, pictures are also used in teaching pronunciation and structures. For example, teacher can give a series of action pictures and repeat the same question and the answer , That is very effective. Beside, teacher can use pictures to retell a story. Children can hold the content of story very quickly by see pictures. Teacher uses pictures to play a game, asks students to arrange the order of pictures base on story she told. That makes student easier to understand and remember the story and they are able to retell it. In conclusion, the use pictures is one of the best teaching aids to teaching and learning English. They not only make class become more active and alive, but also help student learn English easily. There is no doubt that images can be of great importance and relevance to second language teaching, particularly for lower level students. Nevertheless, very few instructors seem to make the best use of pictures in their classes. In a reading session where texts can sometimes be complicated and uninspiring to students, pictures are one of very few aids that teachers can use to grab their students’ attention as well as to motivate them before starting the actual reading. Through this paper, the advantages of using visual aids in the warm-up phase of a reading class will be presented. Participants will be able to absorb a great many ideas on the significance of pictures and become aware of the fact that they can be a tremendously useful and convenient tool. Generally speaking,pictures, paintings,and other visuals constitute the most effective,most plentiful, and leastexpensive teaching medium. It is alsothe medium that is leastutilized. There are good school-useful pictures in abundance, almost anywhere you look. Yet, we as teachers are underutilizing this eminently useful resource. The old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words may or may not be true. Used appropriately and sequentially, pictures can not only illustrate a topic but also can provide the experience base children require in order to profit
  • 4. from reading and writing and from numerous other learning experiences, including those associated with art programming. CHARTS A common, effective teaching method is to use visual presentations in a classroom. Charts and diagrams are especially helpful, as they enable students to see ideas visually laid out in an organized way. Also, visual tools can help the students process content and to make connections more easily. Teachers can purchase or make charts to display around the room, or create a chart as part of a lesson. These tools are esp ecially useful in elementary school, where children tend to have shorter attention spans. Display a Chart Posting charts or diagrams can help reinforce information that students are learning or have already learned. Hang the chart where students can see it. Ideally, the chart should be at the students' eye level or just above eye level. Use charts that have clear images and large text. You can keep charts that have information you would use throughout the year on display so the students can refer to them when they need to. For example, you can keep a chart about the rules of punctuation on the wall until school is out. You might want to hang other charts only during specific units or lessons. For example, if you are studying whales for two months, hang a poster of whales during that time. Create a Chart Using charts during a lesson helps engage your students. Many students are visual learners, so they understand and retain information better when the concepts are associated with images. If you are teaching a lesson about caterpillar anatomy, for instance, you might draw or post a large picture of a caterpillar on an easel and then label its body parts while the students watch. When creating a chart or diagram in front of the students, pause to ask questions or to invite the students to help you complete the chart. Assign a Chart You can also use charts and diagrams as assignments. Ask the students to create a diagram or chart related to something you are teaching. Charts are especially helpful for organizing data in elementary math. For example, students could create a chart that organizes shapes into shapes that have three, four, or five sides, which would be triangles, squares, rectangles and pentagons. Diagrams could be effective assignments in middle-school science classes. For instance, the students could diagram a plant cell.
  • 5. Vary Your Charts Try out different kinds of charts and diagrams with your students. Use a three-column KWL chart at the beginning of a unit or lesson to help the students plan their learning. The "K" in the KWL chart means "Know," as in what you already know. The second column in the KWL chart means "Want to know." The third column refers to "Learned," or what you have learned. Some students or the entire whole class can complete the first and second sections before or during a lesson, and they can complete third column at the end of the lesson. Use a Venn diagram after a lesson is completed to help students compare and contrast information. In a Venn diagram, two larger circles intersect to create a central oval. Information about one concept goes on one side. Information about a second concept goes on the other side. Information that is shared by both concepts goes in the centre.
  • 6. CONCLUSION Efficacious teaching methods have always been successful in drawing students’ attention and interest. If you wish to be in this profession, you must be aware of the effective as well as interesting ways so that your teaching can gain praiseworthy remarks from your pupils. However, there are some fundamental tools, known as the teaching aids that can play a crucial role to teach the educates. Teaching aids are considered to be the integral components of every classroom. the traditional processes of teaching have been replaced by the smart and effective methods. Smart and tech- savvy classrooms clearly bear the sign of advancement with significant charts, graphs and even digital devices that include TVs or LCD projectors also. Teaching aids offer a great variety, which in case grow the interest quotient among the pupils. The reading comprehension skill is also improved with the audio visual aid. These sorts of tools save energy and time also and these are fruitful not only for the students but also for the instructors. As students get attracted towards the learning method, thriving classroom interaction gets possibility. Such tools enhance the creative and imaginative power by letting the students get more involved with the abstract ideas. As teaching aids are the substitutes of the original objects, acquisition process becomes more meaningful and engaging. Teaching tools are essential enough to create disciplined and positive surroundings by enhancing the vividness to that situation. So, fulfil your wish of becoming a successful and reputed teacher but never forget to allow yourself to be indulged with the modern teaching aids.
