This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching the addition of similar fractions. The objective is to solve word problems involving the addition of similar fractions. The learning procedure includes drilling students on identifying proper and similar fractions, reviewing similar and dissimilar fractions, and motivating students with word problems. Sample word problems are provided that require students to add the numerators and copy the denominators of similar fractions to find the total amount. The evaluation section provides example word problems for students to solve. The homework assignment is for students to find and present another word problem involving the addition of similar fractions.
1. I. Objective
Solves word problem involving addition in similar fraction
{Learn to be generous all the time}
II. Subject Matter
A. Solving word problem involving addition in similar fraction
B. BEC-PELC, Mathematics 4, Textbook, pp. 105-106
C. Textbooks, flashcards, charts, show-me-board, cut-out objects
III. Learning Procedure
A. Drill
Identify whether the given fraction is proper or similar fraction
1. 5/4
2. 1/5
3. 6/8
B. Review
Tell whether each given example is similar or dissimilar fraction
1. 2/4, 1/2, 1/3
2. 3/5, 1/5, 2/5
3. 1/8, 3/8, 5/8
C. Motivation
*(Hanapin mo ang kasama ko)
*Finding the pair of object in order to form a similar fraction and after that adding all the newly found
objects by using their corresponding fraction as written on the object.
B. 1. Presentation
Amy and Iris were invited in a party. Amy eats 2/4 of the whole cake, and Iris eats twice as much Amy
has eaten. How many parts of the cake they have eaten in all?
2. Amy-
2/4
Iris-
4/4
Now, we will use shaded and not shaded blocks to represent the parts of the cake that they have eaten
in all. So, out of six parts of the cake, Amy has eaten two parts of it, while Iris has eaten four parts of it.
Thus, the shaded blocks represent the total parts of the cake they have eaten in all.
Therefore; 2/4+4/4= 6/4 or 1 and 2/4
6/4- total parts of the cake did Amy and Iris have eaten in all.
2. How many parts of the cake did Amy and Iris eat in all?
3. In adding similar fraction, simply add the numerators and copy the denominators of each fraction,
reduce it to the lowest term if necessary.
4. How will you add similar fractions?
5. Find the sum
Ariel and Allan were given a gift by their grandma. Ariel received ½ amount of the gift as much as Allan
received. What is the total amount of the gift did they receive in all?
IV. Evaluation
Solve the given problem that involves addition of similar fraction. (5 POINTS each)
1. Annabel and Gil were attended a debut party. Annabel eats 3/4 of the whole pakwan, and Gil
eats twice as much Annabel has eaten. How many parts of the pakwan they have eaten in all?
2. Alex and Allexa were given P 200 by their grandma for their weekly allowance. Alex received 3/4
amount of the money as much as Allexa received. What is the total amount of the allowance did each
receive in all?
V. Homework/Assignment
Look for a problem that involves addition in similar fraction and report it in front of the class.
3. This subject has a deep meaning in every word that a learner should learn. This helps the learner
to become good in organizing the ideas in making objectives in a lesson plan, and also to catch the
attention and interest of the pupils by motivation.
While studying this subject, I learned that in every lesson it should have additional knowledge for
the learners to learn more. Our instructor shares to us some of her knowledge in making lesson plan
and us to feel easy to make. She also gives us words of wisdom about on how to make good objectives
to make an interesting motivation too. Sae mold us to become a good teacher someday. She did not say
anything that will make us
