The Dniester River is 1352 km long, flowing through Ukraine and Moldova before emptying into the Black Sea in Ukraine. It has long served as an important trade route and gets its name from the Russian words meaning "fast river" as it rarely freezes in warm winters. The river is home to many fish species including trout, grayling, sturgeon, and pike.
