Division of Labor
Division of Labor Introduction:The phrase "division of labor" has many different definitions that can be used in different contexts. The
Encyclopedia of Sociology helps explore the many different ways division of labor can be defined, and recognizes that all major sociologists
considered this topic to be fundamental in understanding modern society, and how it has came to be. (Borgatta Montgomery and Rhonda 2000).
Some of these classical sociological thinkers expressed their own ideas of division of labor, such as Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and Emile Durkheim.
The ideas of these three great thinkers had some similarities, but also differed in many ways. Adam Smith felt division of labor was necessary and
vital for economic prosperity, while...show more content...
Marx believed it was something very horrible, and eventually all the workers would revolt and ultimately over throw and get rid of capitalism. He
had a utopian view of what he wanted the world to be but unfortunately his view was unrealistic. Marx's idea of division of labor was pessimistic on
an extreme level. He was right about the worker's condition and the drive for money on the capitalist's end, but the way he wanted the world to be
would limit social mobility. Not only were his aspirations for the world a bit unrealistic, but he also advocated for the public to not only write
about what was going on, he wanted them to do something about it; even though he, himself, never actually did. Emile Durkheim's Perspective:
While Adam Smith and Karl Marx took on the definition of division of labor in terms of a more economical perspective, Emile Durkheim
expresses his ideas of division of labor in terms of it on a more societal level. Similar to Smith's perspective, Durkheim saw division of labor as being
an evolution. He believed division of labor led to solidarity. He described there being two different types of solidarity, mechanical and organic
solidarity. Mechanical solidarity, or solidarity by similarities, was the traditional model of societies that had a "collective (or common) consciousness"
(Durkheim 1893). This meant the societies that shared the same

Emile Durkheim main concern was social order, and how individual integrated to maintain it. The Division of Labor was one of Durkheim's first
major works. Society is a system of inter–related and inter–connected of not only individuals but also subgroups interacting with one another.
Durkheim is interested on how this division of labor changes the way that individuals feel when they are part of society as a whole. As society
advances it becomes more complex, and as it becomes more complex, it gets harder to maintain with the rise of conflict. According to Durkheim, this is
why society has its division of labor, and in order to survive, society is broken down to certain specializations where people are more...show more

Individuals become more dependent on others to perform separate economic functions which they are unable to carry out themselves. Rather than
responsibilities based on the collective values, individual's performance in the society is based on an occupational aspect. The division of labor is
more establish through a mutual economic interdependence. Hence, the relationship between man and society is framed by a contract. The people
carry out specialized functions which regulates the performance in the society as a whole. This type of secular society, has a larger population than
the type of a mechanical one, the collective conscience is significantly lower due to the fact the each individual have more of a freedom, which may
then lead to an anomie; a social instability due to the deteriorating standards of norms and values. Anomie refers to the breakdown of social norms
where these norms no longer control the activities of the members of society. Because Organic societies are much larger, it becomes more complex,
there interactions amongst the people are no longer tied with social bonds and is impersonal. A way of solving this problem is strengthening
associations with in the society, creating a stronger normative structure, hence regaining a collective conscience.

Sympathetic Division
The autonomic nervous system is extremely vital for a human in order to even have a possibility in living. The autonomic nervous system is in charge
of all the things that we do without actually realizing we are doing it, for example our heart, digestive, breathing, our pupils dilating etc. The autonomic
nervous system has a parasympathetic and a sympathetic division, which play two completely different roles. The parasympathetic division brings the
body to a calm state by lowering the heart rate, allowing the muscles to relax, etc. Although the body is in a "resting and digesting" state the autonomic
nervous system is still working just as hard to continue to maintain our physiology. The sympathetic division is the complete opposite of the

Classification and Division
The video game industry is a multibillion dollar a year industry, so it isn't hard to understand why they go through great strides to protect their image.
They provide entertainment to all ages, genders, nationalities, and ethnicities. Contrary to the opinions of the industries opponents, video games are
not destroying our youth, they challenge, educate, and provide an escape from an oppressive world. There are four main types of video games; RPG
or role–playing game, RTS or real–time strategy, FPS or first person shooter, and sports titles. Of these the FPS is probably the most popular, allowing

They must learn economics, politics, diplomacy, construction, military tactics, naval power, and siege tactics in order to survive for more than an hour of
play. Rome: Total War has two different screens that a player must learn to master, the campaign map, where armies, navies, and diplomats are
moved, and where cities are managed. Then there is the battle screen which changes every time a player attacks or defends a different location. It is
on this screen that the game is truly won or lost. Gamers must fully understand the strengths and weaknesses of not only their units, but the units of
their enemy. This is but one challenge for gamers, they must also learn how to confront elephants, chariots, siege weapons, and the naked fanatics of
the Gauls. The next type of game is sports titles, which are probably the most popular for a group of people, rather than the individual gamer. Sports
titles cover everything from football and baseball to golf and auto racing. These games are equally enjoyed by both players who are or were jocks,
and for those who wish they were. A person learns the mechanics and intricacies, giving them a greater appreciation for the game overall. Sometimes the
video game can create a fan of a sport where none existed before. It is obvious that video games are not all about sex, drugs and violence. While there
are certain titles that are questionable, but most games are quite harmless. With school becoming less

Biology: Cell Division Cycle Essay
Change is constant throughout all living things and that is particularly true when it comes to biology and in particular cell–division cycle. All
organisms are constantly dividing and growing throughout their life time. The cell–division cycle in eukaryotes is a complex process that involves
cyclins, cdks and multiple checkpoints that eventually lead to cell division. There are two different types of cell division which are Meiosis and
Mitosis. Meiosis is the type of cell division which involves gametes or sex cells that are involved in sexual reproduction. This type cell division
produces 4 different haploid (N) cells from an original diploid (2N) cell. The four haploid cells produced are unidentical to the original diploid cell due

The cell–division cycle is completed when a cell passes all the checkpoints, has stopped dividing and is in the resting or G0 phase. The G1 phase is
known as the growth phase of the cell cycle. During this phase, the biosynthetic activities that are slowed down during the M phase of the previous
cell division are resumed at a much higher rate. The G1 phase known as the growth phase of the cell because the supply of cell organelles and
proteins increases. This phase contains a checkpoint to ensure that all materials are in place for DNA replication to go smoothly in the S phase of
Interphase. As far as time is concerned, in normal human cells, the whole process of the cell cycle takes about 18 hours to complete and the G1
phase takes at least a third of that time meaning six hours which is a fourth of a normal day's time. However, the G1 phase and other sub phases of
the cell cycle can be inhibited by limiting growth factors such as the temperature they are grown in, their nutrient supply and how much space and
they have to grow because after a certain amount of time, the cells stop proliferation and enter the death phase when they run out of these
supplements. The G1 phase also involves the use of all 20 amino acids to form the various number of enzymes, mRNA and proteins that are required
for DNA synthesis. The G1 phase is the most important phase of the cell–division cycle because this is the phase where it is determined is the cell is
