This document provides tips for writing a commemorative speech. It explains that commemorative speeches pay tribute to people, events, groups, or ideas in order to inspire admiration. The aim is to express feelings and sentiments, not just provide information. Key aspects are using eloquent language and emotive language to stir emotions in the audience. The document outlines seven steps to take: choose a significant aspect of the subject to represent important values; explain why you are giving the tribute; provide concrete examples of achievements; explain why the achievements are successful; link examples to the audience's values; summarize the values in a story or testimony; and conclude with a memorable summary celebrating the values.
The document provides an overview of the key steps and considerations for designing a project-based learning (PBL) unit, using the example of a unit on Great American Authors of the 1950s. It outlines the 5 steps as: 1) begin with the end in mind by defining the essential learning outcomes; 2) craft a driving question; 3) plan assessments; 4) map out the project; and 5) manage the process. Sample activities, assessments, and resources are presented for each step to illustrate what a PBL unit following this framework may include.
Slang permeates everyday American speech and serves important social functions of establishing commonality and identity among groups. Slang is especially prevalent among youth as a way to assert their independence from older generations and mark membership in their peer group. American slang has also spread globally through popular culture and media, where it is used by young people worldwide to signal that they are part of a global youth culture connected to American pop culture. While slang is informal by nature, its widespread use demonstrates its importance in language and its ability to constantly regenerate with new words and meanings over time.

This document introduces the concept of academic discourse. It discusses how individuals have different sociolects they use in different social contexts like with family versus friends or at work. Academic discourse is meant to establish truth through facts, evidence and objective language rather than opinions. It gives authority to knowledge and education. When academic discourse is not respected, it can undermine the profession and knowledge itself by allowing other influences from politics or business. As students and teachers, understanding academic discourse is important as they are members of the academic community responsible for knowledge.

For Part 2, it warns students not to search outside sources or switch browser tabs while taking the exam. Overall guidelines are also given about using only one's own knowledge, having just one browser tab open, and not clicking outside the exam once started. The final grade breakdown of 75% for coursework and 25% for the final exam is also stated

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

DISCURSO.
discurso final o despedida (valedicto).
