การเปลี่ย นประโยคคำา พูด เป็น Indirect Speech ยึด หลัก 4 ข้อ ดัง นี้
1. เปลี่ยนแปลง Reporting Verb (กริยาในประโยคนำา) และตัวเชื่อมประโยค (เพื่อให้
เครื่องหมาย, และ “...” หายไป)
เปลี่ยน say – say that
says - says that
said - said that
say to - tell
says to – tells
said to - told
2. เปลี่ยนแปลง Reported Verb (กริยาตาม) หรือ Tense
ถ้ากริยานำา เป็น Present กริยาตามไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense แต่ถ้ากริยาตามเป็น
Past กริยาตามต้องเป็น Past ด้วย กรณีที่กริยาตามเป็น Past อยู่แล้ว ต้องเปลี่ยนเป็น
Past Perfect
3. เปลี่ยนแปลง Personal Pronoun
4. เปลี่ยนแปลง Nearness (ใกล้) เป็น Distance (ไกล) เปลี่ยน วัน เวลา สถานที่

1. He says , "I can swim." He says that he can swim

5. Bill said, "I am reading now."  Bill said that he was reading then.
II Indirect Speech - Question
Indirect Speech - Question มี 2 แบบ
1. Indirect Question ที่ประโยคคำาถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Question Words

2. 2. Indirect Question ที่ประโยคคำาถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Helping Verb
Ex 1. He said to me , "Who is she ?"  He asked me who she was.
2. Jane says to me , "Can you remember me ?"  Jane asks me if
(whether) I can remember her.
กฎของการเปลี่ย น Indirect Question
1. ถอดเครื่องหมายคำาพูด (Quotation mark) ออก
2. reporting verb ต้องเป็น ask , asks หรือ asked แล้วตามด้วยคำาเชื่อม ถ้า คำา ถาม
เดิม ขึ้น ต้น ด้ว ย Question Word ก็ใ ช้เ ชื่อ มได้เ ลย แต่ถ ้า คำา ถามเดิม ขึ้น ต้น ด้ว ย
Helping V. ให้ใ ช้ if หรือ whether เชื่อ ม
3. การลำาดับคำาให้อยู่ในรูปประโยคบอกเล่า ตัดเครื่องหมาย ? ออกใส่ full stop แทน
4. มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงสรรพนามให้เหมาะสม และเปลี่ยนแปลง Tense ถ้ากริยานำาเป็น

III Indirect Speech - Commands or Requests
การเปลี่ยนประโยค คำาสั่ง ขอร้อง ให้เป็น Indirect Speech ให้EXCLAMATIONS
ถือหลักดังนี้
1. เปลี่ยน said , said to เป็นคำาต่อไปนี้
Reporting an exclamation is
command - สั่งอย่างเฉียบขาด told - บอก สั่งธรรมดาทั่ว ๆ ไป
usually best achieved by a
asked - ขอร้อง ordered - สั่งค่อนข้างเฉียบขาด
circumlocution reflecting the
begged - วิงวอน อ้อนวอน warned - เตือน spirit of the original
requested - ขอร้อง advised - แนะนำา exclamation. Exclamations are
proposed - เสนอแนะ forbade – ห้าม (V.2 ของ forbid)

3. ใช้ to + V1 เมื่อประโยคนั้นสั่งให้ทำา not to + V1 เมื่อประโยคนั้นห้ามทำา

Ex. 1. A teacher said to me , "Open the door." SPEECH for more important.
A teacher told me to open the door.
2. Father said to me , "Don't make a loud noise."
Father told me not to make a loud noise.
3. He said to her , "please, don't be have like that."
He begged her not to be have like that.
