1. Direct Speech / Indirect Speech
1. Direct Speech คือการยกเอาคา พูดของผู้พูดมาเลา่โดยตรง
Somsak said : "I am very busy now." สมศักด์ิพูดวา่ "ขณะนี้ฉันงานยุง่มาก" ประโยคในเครื่องหมายคา พูด
"........" เป็นประโยคที่ผู้พูด พูดเอง หรือเรียกวา่ Direct Speech
2. Indirect Speech หรือ Reported Speech คือการเอาคา พูดของผู้พูดมาเลา่เป็นคา พูดของตัวเอง
Somsak said that he was very busy then. : สมศักด์ิพูดวา่เขางานยุง่มาก ข้อความที่วา่ that he was busy then
เป็นถ้อยคา ที่ผู้เลา่นาคา พูดมาจากคา พูดของสมศักด์ิ แตไ่ด้พูดเสียใหมเ่ป็นคา พูดของตัวเอง
ประโยคข้างต้นนี้เรียกวา่ Indirect Speech
หลักการเปลี่ยน
1.เปลี่ยนแปลง Tense ดังนี้
Present Simple เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Simple
Direct : He said " I am unwell." เขาพูดวา่ฉันไมส่บาย
Indirect : He said that he was unwell. เขาพูดวา่เขาไมส่บาย
Present Continuous เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Continuous
Direct : Carol said. "Betty is reading." แครอลพูดวา่ เบตตี้กา ลังอา่นหนังสือ
Indirect : Carl said that Betty was reading. แครอลพูดวา่เบตตี้กา ลังอา่นหนังสือ
Simple Future เปลี่ยนเป็น Future Continuous Tense
Direct : Prasong said. " I will come to the party."
Indirect : Prasong said that he would come tothe party.
Present Perfect เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Perfect
Direct : He said. " I have Passed the examination."
Indirect : He said that he had passed the examination."
Future Perfect เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Future Perfect
Direct : John said. "We will have made alarge profit by next year."
Indirect : John said that they would have made a large profit by next following year.

2. กรณีคาพูดเป็นจริงตลอดกาล เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็น Indirect จะไม่มีการเปลี่ยน Tense
Direct : The teacher told his class, "The earth revolves round the son.
Indirect : The teacher told his class that the earth revolves round the
son.คุณครูบอกเด็กนักเรียนในชั้นวา่โลกหมุนรอบดวงอาทิตย์
ประโยคเงื่อนไขสมมติทเี่ป็นไปไม่ได้ จะไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง
Direct : Dam said, " I wouldn't do it if I were you. somchai."
Indirect : Dam said that he wouldn't do it if he were Somchai. ดา พูดวา่เขาจะไมท่า มนัถ้าเขาเป็นสมชัย
(การที่ดา จะเป็นสมชัยนั้นเป็นไปไมไ่ด้เด็ดขาด)
Would,Should,Ought,Had better,Might,Used to เมือเปลี่ยนคา เหลา่นี้ยังคงเดิม
Direct : Decha said," I might try my luck."
Indirect : Decha said that he might try his luck. เดชาพูดวา่เขาอาจจะพยายามให้ได้รับโชค
กรณีผู้พูดพูดซ้าคาพูดของตัวเอง จะไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง
Direct : I said,"I like my work."
Indirect : I said that I liked my work.
2. Indirect Speech จะมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเวลาทแี่สดงความใกล้ไกล ใน Direct Speech

tomorrow the next day,the following day
yesterday the day before,the previous day
next week (month,yesr) the following week (month,year)
last night the night before...,ect

3. 3.การเปลี่ยนคาบอกสถานทใี่นประโยค Indirect Speech
Direct Indirect

in this area in that area

these those
yesterday the day before,the previous day
thus so
ประโยคคาถาม
Direct : He said to me, "What are you doing.?"
Indirect : He asked me what I was doing.?
ประโยคคาสั่งและขอร้อง
Direct : The teacher said ,"Go and get some chalk."
Indirect : The teacher told him to go and get some chalk. ครูบอกให้เขาไปเอาชอล์กมาให้
Direct : The teacher said, "Keep quite and do you work."
Indirect : The teacher advised them to keep quite and do their work.
ครูแนะนาให้พวกเขาเงียบๆและทา การบ้าน
Direct : John said, "Don't go."
Indirect : John told her not to go. จอห์นบอกไมใ่ห้เธออกไป
ประโยคอุทานและแสดงความปรารถนา
Direct : He said,"Alas! I am undone."
Indirect : He exclaimed sadly that he was undone. เขาร้องอยา่งเศร้าที่ได้รับความหายานะ
Direct : Alice said,"How clever I am.!"
Indirect : Alice exclaimed that she was very clever. อลิศกลา่ววา่เธอเป็นคนฉลาดมาก
