Everybody can sketch. It's not about artsy stuff, but problem solving and visual communication. Sketches don't need to be perfect, but they need to convey a solution / an idea.
The session will take 45 mins (1 hour):
* 5 min (10 min): Intro (Idea / Problem)
Discover the idea that will be tackled. Explain the rules.
(Discover 3 ideas we can sketch upon and vote on your preferred one. Depending on what was voted, we will start sketching on the winner idea.)
* 20 min (30 min): Sketch
Everyone will sketch a solution for the idea / problem selected.
You can propose just 1 sketch or multiple.
You can sketch entire screens or just small UI components.
Ugly is ok. The sketch doesn't need to be fancy (boxes, stick figures and words are fine).
A sketch is the first step towards an idea / solution.
* 5 min: Gather
Everyone will stick their sketch(es) on a visible panel creating a board full of sketches.
We keep the sketches anonymous.
* 10 min: Voting
You will have 3-5 voting dots. You will go in line over the proposed sketches (like in an art gallery) and vote on the ones that you think if will solve the problem or that we should follow.
* 5 min: Conclusions
We will gather / scan the voted solutions and see how we can integrate them as a solution.

Abstract:
What does it mean to design in the open, what opportunities there are and how is this different from 'normal' design. When I mention the word 'design', I refer to User Experience, Interaction Design, Accessibility, Usability and User Research.
I am an open source designer for more than 10 years and I've worked with multiple open source communities. Designing in the open is very different from designing for a client. Even if every community has its particular rules, we can attempt to generalize the process, but still it is very unstable, blurry and with lots of unknowns: who is the target of your product, who takes the final decision in open source, how do you evaluate your prototypes when you can't meet the people that will use the product or when you need to address users with very different backgrounds. Closed and paid products are money driven and can be very specific, but open source projects have different motors and the developers and designers need to adapt to these constraints. There are many topics to be discusses related to Open Source Design, but I will try to give an overview of the process and introduce people that never experienced Open Source Design to the concept.

Future of XWiki Skins
A XWiki skin is used to customize the interface of a XWiki Enterprise instance. Skins are composed of templates, CSS files, JavaScript files, images and fonts. Several skins have been bundled with XWiki over the years, including Dodo, Finch, Albatross, Toucan, Colibri and Flamingo. There is ongoing discussion around improving skin support and flexibility in XWiki, including whether to introduce new skins, make the current skin (Flamingo) more configurable, integrate themes, and define standards and an extensibility model to balance simplicity and customizability.
