What is an Adverb?
• An adverb describes or modifies a verb,
adjective, or another adverb.
• It tells how, when, where, or to what extent.
• Examples:
• - He runs quickly
• - She is very happy
How Adjectives Work
• They describe 'what kind', 'which one', 'how
many'.
• Example:
• - The red apple (what kind?)
• - Five students (how many?)
How Adverbs Work
• They describe 'how', 'when', 'where', 'to what
extent'.
• Examples:
• - She sings beautifully (how?)
• - He arrived yesterday (when?)
• - They looked everywhere (where?)
Key Differences
• Adjective modifies: Noun or Pronoun
• Adverb modifies: Verb, Adjective, or another
