Dian Fossey was a famous scientist known for her research on mountain gorillas in Africa. She studied gorillas in Zaire and Rwanda in the 1960s and 1970s, publishing her findings and working to protect gorillas from poachers. Tragically, she was murdered in her cabin in 1985 by one of the hunters she had campaigned against.

1. DIAN FOSSEY
She was born in 1932 in San
Francisco, California, and became a
really famous scientist because of the
researches she did about mountain
gorillas.
She decided to take a pre-veterinary course, and her
first visit to the mountain gorillas was in 1963. After
that, she went back to Kentucky to keep working. Three
years later, she collected enough money to go to
Zaire, Africa, and she even went through an operation
when they asked her to, in order to prove how
interested she was.

2. DIAN FOSSEY
When she was captured, she managed to escape and
go to Rwanda, where she continued her work. The
more she watched gorillas, the more she liked
them, and she published what she'd found out. In
1970, she went to England to get her doctorate in
zoology, and began a public campaign against the
hunters who had been killing gorillas.
A few years later, she returned to the US to
be a professor, but since she preferred
gorillas to people, she moved back to
Africa, after publishing "Gorillas in the
Mist". She died in
1985, when, ironically, one of the hunters
she had fought murdered her in her cabin.
