The Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta describes the first teaching of the Buddha. In it, he taught the four noble truths of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path to the cessation of suffering to five ascetics in the Deer Park near Varanasi. This was the first discourse in which he set in motion the "wheel of Dhamma", establishing the core teachings of Buddhism.
