Cubism developed from Analytic Cubism to Synthetic Cubism. Pablo Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon from 1907 used geometric shapes and multiple perspectives to break objects into basic elements. Georges Braque's Violin and Palette from 1909-10 featured collage and papier colle where objects were depicted as both 2D and 3D. Juan Gris' Still Life before an Open Window, Place Ravignan from 1925 synthesized cubist techniques with realistic elements to create a new style of cubism.
