I presented this deck at the NFC Forum on March 21st 2014. The NFC Forum is the standards body that manages the NFC Standards and Specifications. This deck describes the 5 most common use cases of NFC and how developers can access them on BlackBerry 10

Abstract: Use the right tool (and language) for the job! That is the general motto of this hands-on session. Go has established itself as a simple, reliable and efficient programming language, especially in the Ops and cloud-native area: Docker, Kubernetes and many other well-known tools and infrastructure components are all implemented in Go. This session is packed with many practical use cases and examples to illustrate and explore the power of the Go language universe.

Mobile Java Web Applications with MVC and OpenDDR
We experience a growing number of mobile phones, tablets, phablets, foldables, smart TV, watches or home assistants and similar devices flooding the market almost every day. If you want to create a responsive web application with the best user experience you need dynamic adaptive content according to all relevant aspects of your device. That’s the reason for Device Description Repositories (DDR). This session provides an overview of the W3C DDR standard for Mobile Device recognition and the OpenDDR project. Followed by a live demo of extensions to Spring MVC and the MVC 1.0 standard for Java (JSR-371) leveraging the power of OpenDDR to simplify the development of cross device web applications. Both offer automatic device detection based on OpenDDR, configuration of user preferences, automatically switch the path to the most appropriate view for a particular device or device type. As well as device aware templates, view engines and more.
Docker Bday #5, SF Edition: Introduction to DockerDocker, Inc.
In celebration of Docker's 5th birthday in March, user groups all around the world hosted birthday events with an introduction to Docker presentation and hands-on-labs. We invited Docker users to recognize where they were on their Docker journey and the goal was to help them take the next step of their journey with the help of mentors. This presentation was done at the beginning of the events (this one is from the San Francisco event in HQ) and gives a run down of the birthday event series, Docker's momentum, a basic explanation of containers, the benefits of using the Docker platform, Docker + Kubernetes and more.

Managing Internal, Private External, and Open Developer EcosystemsLarry McDonough
More and more, our developer ecosystems are splitting into many different and separate groups. This presentation focuses on how VMware has tackled the challenge of addressing the needs of internal (2nd party) developer teams and partner developers as well as external/open source developers.
I manage the Developer Center portal at VMware. This "one pager" along with the associated notes describes at a high level all the capabilities and functions of this portal --both for developers as well as VMware Partners.
Please check us out at: developercenter.vmware.com and follow us at: @vmwaredevcenter
This is a short deck I presented at the W3C conference in February 2013 in San Francisco. PLEASE read the notes for the slides (shown down below). I've transcribed what I say for each slide so you're not left guess what a particular bullet means or why it's there.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:

Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
