City University London developed a Learning Development Fellowship scheme to recognize staff excellence in teaching and learning and disseminate good practices across departments. Thirty-six staff were selected as inaugural Fellows in 2010. Fellows serve as liaisons between their departments and the Learning Development Center, providing feedback on activities and helping shape university strategies. The Fellowship aims to create an educational development culture by supporting Fellows as change agents and pumping resources into departments rather than managing them centrally. An initial survey found that Fellows valued opportunities to discuss pedagogical issues and awareness of practices across the university.
