disorders are gaining, detecting them
early in children is still a perplexing
task.
Three primary characteristics should
be taken note of when determining if a
child is exhibiting symptoms of ADD or
ADHD, namely, inattention,
hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Kids
who are inattentive, yet not
hyperactive or impulsive may have
ADD. Those who are hyperactive and
impulsive, while still being able to pay
attention may have ADHD. And the
most common form of ADHD is when
all these three characteristics are
evident in a child.

However, not all children who show
symptoms of inattention,
hyperactivity, and impulsivity have the
disorder. It can be due to other
causes, such as medical conditions,
other psychological disorders, or even
traumatic life experiences.
