Career Fairs
Introducing KPass to reduce waiting time
Ao Peng
Deepti Bahel
Emily(Yue) Zhang
Matt Bobrowski
Students spend 3-4 hours at the fair and usually talk
to 4-6 companies.
Time spend in career fair Number of companies spoken to
Students spend more than 10 minutes in line and
want to wait less than 5 minutes in line
Students want to spend less time waiting and more
time talking to recruiters.
Actual time spend Time students want to spend
Why students don’t like waiting in line?
Waste of time
Lose patience
Less able to portray their interest to recruiter
End up missing classes
Less return of investment
Purdue Round Table 2016
What if we do this...
The best candidate is guaranteed less waiting
time
Coordinate with other job-seekers to minimize
wait time
More time is spent before the fair to get to know
the companies
How to implement our solution
Target: All Krannert Students going to SMEF
Leverage existing platforms (CCO & CMA) to enable KPass implementation
KPass: a short line with less waiting time for popular companies who sponsor
international students.
The pass can be earned by a limited number of students, reducing waiting time
for students who have earned a pass.
