Design tensions: Interaction Criticism on Instagram’s Mobile Interface
This paper examines the metaphorical tensions present in Instagram's user interface from a critical perspective, highlighting the need for developing critical theories in interface design. It discusses various types of design tensions—syntactic, pragmatic, and hermeneutic—that affect user interaction and understanding of the interface. The findings suggest that these tensions can guide the design of more intuitive and effective communication and information design artifacts.
