Everything is an illusion. - Do we live in a computer simulation?Harshal Hayatnagarkar
In the words of legendary science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." In last few hundred years, we humans have made great progress in science and technology . With computing innovations, the pace of progress is rather accelerating, and will leave a lasting impact on us as a species.
Transhumanism is an intellectual movement to study this impact, and aims to enhance physical, psychological, and intellectual potential to leap into a posthuman era. In this talk, we will discuss a speculative idea from transhumanism, where even the magic is real.
Content Strategy on the Digital Frontier: Why Technology and Humanity Must Wo...Barry Slaughter Olsen
Technology continues to reshape radically the way people and organizations communicate, including how, where and what they read, listen to and view. As machines and automated processes continue to encroach on what was one the exclusive domain of human knowledge workers, there is a constant tension between the push for standardization to leverage technology more fully and the desire to allow humans to do what they do best, which in the case of writers and translators, is to create compelling, useful content. How do you strike a balance between creativity and productivity or between creation and automation? Join Barry as he explores the emerging partnership between human creativity and technological efficiency to communicate effectively.

Originally purely academic research fields, Machine Learning and AI are now definitely mainstream and frequently mentioned in the Tech media (and regular media too).
We’ve also got the explosion of Data Science which encompasses these fields and more. There’s a lot of interesting things going on and a lot of positive as well as negative hype. The terms ML and AI are often used interchangeably and techniques are also often described as being inspired by the brain.
In this talk I will explore the history and evolution of these fields, current progress and the challenges in making artificial brains

The Relationship Of AI With Human Thinking.pptxssusere5168c
Do you believe you make all your decisions on your own? Not, even as I am writing this blog. Artificial Intelligence (AI) may shape our judgments. We make several decisions daily, such as where to go, what to eat, where to shop, what to read, and so on. This helps humans in all aspects of their daily lives. You might listen to someone or browse for reviews to help you decide. To make a choice. But what if the information is biased?

Can Artificial Intelligence Replace Our Friends And Teachers?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used to help people make decisions. It collects and analyses huge amounts of data and provides us with conclusions. AI not only allows us to direct, purchase, and so on. But it also allows us to make more critical decisions about our current societal benefits, such as medical treatment, verdicts, health insurance, and so on.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Design rationale for turing's nightmares
1. The Design Rationale for
Turing’s Nightmares:
Scenarios and
Speculations on “The
Singularity”
John Charles Thomas, Ph.D.
http://www.createspace.com/6026578
2. My Background
Dissertation compared human behavior in problem
solving to AI program.
Worked in various aspects of Human-Computer
Interaction for a dozen years at IBM Research.
Executive Director of AI lab at NYNEX for a dozen
years.
Returned to IBM Research to work in knowledge
socialization, complexity, human computer interaction,
and cognitive computing.
3. “The Singularity”
Refers to a hypothetical
time in the not so distant
future when a computer
system will be developed
with super-human
intelligence capable of
creating a still more
intelligent system.
4. Current Context
Computer HW continues to be faster, cheaper, lower power.
Advances in AI techniques continue.
More is being learned about the human brain to “inspire”
possible techniques.
Increased speed and power of HW means more experiments can
be run to further improve AI techniques more quickly.
As AI provides more results, more computer scientists begin
using these techniques.
This provides a “virtuous cycle” of improvements.
5. Current Context
Whether or not this actually results in “The
Singularity” or not, it is clear that significant
practical applications of AI will continue to
grow.
*Every* new technology has social, political
and ethical implications.
This is particularly so with Information
Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
6. Time is of the Essence
Now is the time to
consider the possible
implications of Artificial
Intelligence for society,
economics, jobs, health,
crime and punishment,
welfare, defense, energy
policy, education, human
communication, and so on.
7. Method to Examine Possible
Implications: Scenarios
Scenarios help us examine
our own emotional
reactions to possible
futures.
Although none of the
scenarios may come true
in detail, considering them
helps us prepare for
whatever comes.
8. Turing’s Nightmares
First appeared as a blog series on
wordpress.com
Chose disparate scenarios to explore
possible issues, positive and negative
that can come from attempt to
create “super-intelligence.”
Too unsure of future to develop a
single coherent narrative.
Inspired by Alan Lightman book
called, “Einstein’s Dreams” — a set
of scenarios about possible universes
in which time operates differently.
9. Artwork
Artwork adds to cost but induces moods.
Like possible futures of AI:
Some images are distortions of what we
already see today.
Some are are unrecognizable, though if you
look closely, you can see echoes of today.
Some look like ordinary pictures but have
something hidden behind the scenes.
Also meant to connote continuity because
images made by author’s grandfather,
author, author’s son, and author’s
grandson.
10. Easter Eggs/Humor
Decisions about AI will require
creativity and calm
Although decisions are
important, stress makes
creativity and calm more
difficult
Hence, humor and “Easter Eggs”
— some obvious & some more
subtle
