Introduction
A subject with a lot more of technical as well as mental
exercises involved is what is Design Methods. The subject
gives enlightenment to the task bearer towards their
creative abilities. The synergy level of the subject using
varied techniques has been the key element. It drives one
to reach the excel point of the design to be developed
keeping in mind all its major attributes such as
functionality, usability etc.

1. Kite making
The task on kite making
was a real exploration into
one of the all time favorite
sport.
Description
Inspiration: fighter plane
Surface design: Indian motifs in
achromatic colors
Product size: live size
Material: chart paper
Sport: flying
Geometric Tool
Objective: To develop a modified
geometric tool. It could be feature
adding or an innovation.
Inspiration: L- scale
Material used
Prototype material: Foam
board
Actual material: acrylic
sheet
Making of prototype:
Foam board was cut
according to scale and
design developed. The
measurement lines were
given by marker pen on the
same.

 Incorporating
geometric tools such
as protractor, various
scale measurement,
isosceles triangle and
L scale.

Product material: PVC sheet & Acrylic sheet
Inspiration: Super Mario video game

Craftsmanship used: industrial stitching
Design Brief
 A smart bag designed for NIFT
students
 The bag is developed according to
the purpose of a designer or artist.
 The bag has multi functionality to
its aesthetics and purpose.
 Its water proof and safe material.
 Its identity reveler.
 It’s a style statement too.
Materials used
PVC Sheets
Acrylic Sheets
Zippers & Eyelets
Making process
 Acrylic sheets were cut according to desired size with
axo blade and smoothed out using sand paper
 In industries its cut with acrylic sheet cutter such as
vertical blade, laser cutting etc.
 Hot blowers are used to heat it and mold in shape if
required.
 Smoothening can also be done with sanding machine.
 The cut out pieces are joined using chloroform.
