V.C. Johnson began drawing at a young age using pencils but found them messy. They discovered technical pens like the Rapidograph which gave precise ink lines. Johnson created many pen and ink drawings in their 20s exploring different techniques. They got a job helping to build a skateboard factory and began creating bold art for the skateboards using strengthened ink techniques like cross-hatching. While popular for their detailed commercial art, Johnson struggled with substance abuse which took a toll on their health. They have since sought therapy and explored different art mediums like woodcut printing and scratchboard which allow for more control and accidental effects compared to precise pen and ink work.
This document discusses the process of sketching. It begins by defining a sketch as a rapidly executed drawing that is not intended as a finished work. It then outlines some key steps in the sketching process. First, an artist must start with basic shapes like circles and squares before moving to more complex drawings. Sketches also have no time limit and can take anywhere from a few seconds to years to complete. The document then notes that sketches are typically done in black and white to use values of light and dark. Artists will also do quick strokes to explore different line shapes. It emphasizes that mistakes are allowed in sketching and that practice improves skills. Finally, it states that sketching helps architects develop ideas that inform their final drawings for

Artificial Lift Whitepaper: Making Your ESP Talk To YouDean Murphy
The subject of this paper is ‘a technique to make your ESP talk to you’; when designing and
operating ESPs the first thing that you need to do is give the ESP a ‘mouth’, then you can attempt to
understand its language and let it talk to you.
Traditionally, the ESP ‘mouth’ was an amp chart and a fluid level shot on the annulus. Interpretation
of the data then told you something about motor load and pump intake pressure. Today’s ESP
technology is such that the prudent operator can obtain ESP operating parameters by using a
downhole sensor. The dilemma when faced with the wealth of data that comes from such a sensor
is ‘which parameters are most important?’. By recognising which variables respond most quickly to a
change in operating conditions, you can give your ESP the ability to talk to you.
This document provides an overview of Adobe Photoshop CS3 and introduces basic tools and functions. It covers starting Photoshop and setting up documents, as well as the interface layout including the toolbox, palettes like layers and history, and basic selection, alteration and drawing tools. Sections describe how to open images, get familiar with the interface, and modify images using tools like cropping, resizing and correcting. The document aims to get users started with Photoshop's environment and basic image editing.

3 How would you describe your style of work?
Mashed up! I will take whatever resourse I can get my hands on ranging from
complex vectors to mud splattered on paper, this is all mashed up together and
blended with photography. My style is constantly changing, well evolving. this gives
me scope to work on briefs from corporate work through to the music industry, each
with its own “mashed up” application.

ISSUE #02 |03.2007
INTERVIEW
DESIGNFLIP MAGAZINE.PASSION
4 Could you tell us about your
creative process?
Starts with sketches and always ends up
on the mac, my creative approach changes each and
everyday. This is why I love being an illustrator as you
never do two things the same and work and pleasure
(well obsession), become one and the same.
7 where’s your idea ussually come from?
Ideas don’t come from anywhere, they come from everywhere. It could be
something someone says on a train or it could be the light hitting the hills
around my home. Each piece is inspired by my surroundings and influenced by random
elements like my children or the music I happen to be listening to.
8What your favourites website?
I love portals and regularly check up on many sites like lounge 72, gouw and of course
Design Diary. These sites keep you up there in terms of when a style is hot or not.
5 What is your favourites design tools?
A big chunky Mac and my sketch pad.
6What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Jumping a car on my mountain bike. My wife just thinks this is childish but you need to have
more than on pleasure in your life;) On a professional level though I love seeing my work
live, whether it be a billboard or magazine. Each time it sends a tingle down the back of my
neck and this is what drives me.
What do you think about our magazine?
It rocks, great
showcase and well
put together!
10 A big shout to...
Rinze Van Brug, Matt Salacuse, James Lightbown, Erik Bont. Cheers for
all you hard work, your all great!

Hello everybody, my name is Indir Topcagic, I want to
call myself a graphic designer and illustrator based
in Stockholm / Sweden where I study IT, media and
design. I’m also running the design collective Yris.se*
with two dear friends of mine. For the past few months
I’ve constantly updated my portfolio online for you to
see and feel – www.yris.se/indir I’m 19 years young and
I’ve always had a great passion for art, color and form.

One day I decided to do something
with this love of mine – I started to
play around with digital art for about
4 years ago and I have not stopped
since.
Constantly learning new things in
the field of art and getting inspired
from everything around me is for me
something so beautiful and important
that I can’t describe it in words.
I’m aiming for the moon, but if I miss
hopefully I’ll be among the stars!

8. 2. Who are some of your artistic
influences? What is it about
their work that inspires you?
This is a tricky one. I have so
many great people around me
who inspires me, but I’ll name
one of them that has been and
is supporting and helping me.
He has given me the strength
and motivation to continue in
this tough business – Armin
Osmancevic with his amazing
artwork and passion for the
things he does.
3 How would you describe your style of work?
My style is very complex to explain. It depends
from work to work and has a lot to do with what
kind of mood that I’m in at the time. For me it’s
important to stay childish and foolish.
I’m constantly trying
to surprise and please
myself with my own art.
4. Could you tell us about your
creative process?
It all starts off with some kind of idea, and it
often happens when I’m far away from my
computer taking a walk out with my dog or
hanging out with friends. So I make a few
notes on paper in case I would forget it.
Later on back home I just open up Photoshop
and start playing around. When I find a bit
of rythm in what I’ve done I just somehow
keep creating, adding, deleting, coloring and
saving until I’m pleased with what I see and
then I give the artwork a name. It becomes
my baby!

9. 6 What accomplishments
are you most proud of?
I’m so happy proud of being in the DesignFlip
magazine showing my artwork and telling
a bit about who I am and what I love to do.
Otherwise I’m very proud of myself and I can
really see how much I’ve developed under
the past few years. It feels great.
7 Where’s your idea
usually come from?
I usually get my ideas when I’m doing
something complety different than
thinking about art or design. It suddenly
hits me right out of nowhere seconds
before I go to sleep or when I’m out and
having a great time with friends and
family . If I’m lucky I have a pen and a
paper near by so I can write them down
in case I forget some of them.
5 What is your favourites design tools?
I would say it’s Adobe Photoshop and my tablet. Starting
to feel a bit handicapped without the tablet – drawing
with the mouse is starting to disappear.

14. New and Improved Bridge
I would have thought that Adobe Camera Raw would win my award for most-improved player,
but once I saw the new Bridge, I knew we had a winner. This is a HUGE step forward for the
Bridge, adding features such as a built-in Loupe tool for magnifying specific areas without
zooming in on the entire image. It’s very well implemented. Also, the ability to compare photos
side-by-side is just huge. There are tweaks and improvements all over, including easier access
to information, much faster drawing thumbnails thanks to new smart-thinking view options,
and improved Slideshow capabilities. I’m just scratching the surface, but I can safely say that if
this CS3 version had been Bridge 1.0, it sure would have made a lot of converts.
Smart Filter
Think Smart Objects, but perhaps a little bit smarter. Finally, here’s a non-destructive way to
apply multiple filters to an image and still go back and change your mind later (much later if
you like). Implementing these Smart Filters like Layer Styles was a stroke of interface design
genius. It just makes so much sense. Throw in the mask that comes with every Smart Filter
and you’ve got a big winner on your hands. A big pat on the back to the engineer(s) who came
up with this puppy!

15. Put them together in separate layer, overlapping each other.
Select both layers, go to Edit > Auto-Bend Layers. Photoshop will do the magic and bend the
layers you selected together. It even fixes the lighting and color for you, so your image bends
seamlessly.
Known issues for the Photoshop CS3 beta include the following:
• Large cursors are not displayed on Intel-based Macs.
• The Pattern Maker plug-in is not available on Intel-based Macs
• Uninstall causes Acrobat 7 Pro and Reader to be automatically reconfigured on Windows XP.
• Interpolation on image resize is not working correctly.
• Certain plug-Ins are not being loaded on Intel-based Macs (AltiVec, PPCCore, Embed and
Read Watermark).
• Camera Raw is not yet scriptable.
• Photoshop may crash on quit when running on a developer seed of Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard.”
• Non-Photoshop Open EXR files fail to open in Photoshop CS3.
• PDF settings are not included. If you do not have Acrobat 8, you will not be able to save out
as PDFx.
• The Adobe Media Gallery (available in the File > Automate menu) is non-operational in the
Photoshop CS3 Beta.
• Unable to open a CMYK JPEG or images larger than 10,000 pixels per side if “Prefer ACR for
JPEG” preference is checked.
• Recovery and fill light sliders don’t respond immediately on first use. If unable to open more
then one JPEG on the Mac the workaround is to check the preference option to “Prefer ACR
for JPEG.”

41. WHEN AND WHY WE WHERE BORN……..Bunnyegg
creations was born since 1st of july 2005 as an advertising
that purposely to be form to solve design and advertising
consultations needs that base in Johor Bahru. In
December 2005, we have created BunnyEgg Urban Stuff
that newly open our 1st outlet at Danga Bay Festive Mall
at Johor Bahru. And successfully open since 14 January
2006. We both partner up that because we have the same
ambitions. And we are BunnyEgg (Garry Wong and Angie
Tan).
Bunnyegg provides clients with interactive and
print design solutions that can be used in many
areas of their businesses. Our work helps both
large and small companies sell, market and
communicate in a more effective manner.
Generally, we create websites, internet sites,
interactive lap-top and cd-rom presentations,
ad campaigns, branding, identity and more. We
envision, manage, design, program and deliver.
There are some key principles that shape our design philosophy. Keeping things simple. Hiding
elements, but leave them accessible. Subtracting and allowing the most important elements to rise to
the surface. These mantras apply to both communication and interactive design.
We study and follow the best examples of contemporary graphic design and typography. We read and
surf everything creative so as to apply our knowledge to interactive design. We keep our fingers on the
pulse of what’s new, different and aesthetic in print design. This results in simple yet sophisticated
user experiences and campaigns that we, and our clientele, are very proud of. Bunnyegg is always
eager to work on the best projects with the best clients. In a perfect world, our clients have a specific
project with a specific budget in mind. They care very much about design, branding and image.
Together we outline the scope of the project and our solutions.

47. Images are littered with fashionable and
beautiful women, mixed with an undercurrent
of a much darker, moodier place that exists in
Massimiliano’s world.
Butterfly wings and lingerie live together in a
sophisticated yet powerfull style. Massimiliano
Panzironi has the habit to love female bodies as
well as their dreams.
Each artwork is more than a simple image: it’s a
story, a word, a wisper.
Influenced by fashion, music, architecture, Italian
illustrator Massimiliano Panzironi depicts dark,
moody, raw and sexual women, which remain at
the forefront of subject matter explored within
much of his work.

Pure Passion:
This picture represents a guy standing in the rain. I first drew
him on paper and then added colour and effects. The idea
came from the fact that I don’t like standing in the rain.
Process:
That little black bird is one of my newest cartoons. In this
picture he stands for the three stages before creating artwork:
1. thinking about an idea
2. meeting all advantages and disadvantages and
3. ready to start.
Dreams:
The silhouette of this bird had a very ‘dreamy’ feeling in my
opinion.

In bella donna I try to express my passion for graphism
and beatifull woman.
I am alway attract by mysterious women like this,
hidding something.
In one way they re terrible but so seductive too.
I wanted to show the difficult life of a graphic designer
always torn between the idea he has in the head and
the result on paper, so I imagine a creation that
take life and submerge the creator, like all passion are.
At one point you can’t control anything.
you just let yourself go and that’s wath i love.
In special “K” I tried to treat passion with the religious
direction.like an iconography. That’s also a very
megalomaniac piece. I put myself (represented by the
“K”) in the center of the cloud, as god. Giving signs to
earth.that’s a kind of transposition in one way.

This piece revolves around gloryifing the
prominent pop culture icons that many have
come to easily recognize in the modern era.
Depicted is Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley
in an intertwined floral design that is currently
popular in todays design trends. This was
constructed using various line art techniques
that involved tracing over original images in
photoshop, and using custom brush selections
to achieve the outlined brush and ink effect. This
particular piece uses elements from a much
larger piece for the oxygenetic artgroup.

When i got the photo from my friend. An idea
just struck me. I wanted to create a fantasy,
abstract-looking art piece. So i created this one
with characteristics of light and the perspective of
shapes.
02Time Machine
Just want to create a particular environment and
surounding influence of fantasy. An atmosphere
that i am flying, floating and going back to the
past. Playing around with vectors and rasters. The
combination of both give me a pleasant result.

I want to create an artwork that represent
arrogant, bold and confident. The modal of
the photo was my friend. His pose and facial
expression gives me a fearless and daring feeling.
