DEFINITION
Descriptive Text is a text which
says what a person or a thing is
like. Its purpose is to describe
and reveal a particular person,
place, or thing.
as explained by Kane (2000:
352), is defined like in the
following sentence:
Description is about sensory
experience—how something
looks, sounds, tastes. Mostly it
is about visual experience, but
description also deals with
other kinds of perception.
GENERIC STRUCTURE OF
DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
When writing descriptive text, there are some generic
structures (actually not mandatory) for our writing to
be true. The arrangement is:
# Identification: (contains about the introduction of a
person, place, animal or object will be described.)
# Description: contains a description of something
such as animal, things, place or person by describing
its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what
the writer describes.
PURPOSE OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
To describe person, thing or place in
specific
To describe a particular person, thing or
place.
LANGUAGE FEATURE OF DESCRIPTIVE
TEXT
Specific participant : has a certain object, is not
common and unique (only one). for example:
Bandengan beach, my house, Borobudur temple, uncle
Jim
– The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the
noun, for example: a beautiful beach, a handsome
man, the famous place in Jepara, etc.
– The use of simple present tense: The sentence
pattern used is simple present because it tells the fact
of the object described.
– Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example,
run, sleep, walk, cut etc.)
MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Mechanical engineers are problem
solvers who apply their skills to design,
develop, build, and test all sorts of
mechanical devices, tools, engines, and
machines in just about every type of
industry.
As a mechanical engineer, you’ll work
on teams to develop a wide range of
products and systems including,
transmissions, engine parts, aircraft
engines, control systems, prosthetic
devices, disk drives, printers,
semiconductor tools, sensors, gas turbines,
wind turbines, fuel cells, compressors,
robots, machine tools, space shuttle
SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Software engineering is an engineering-based approach
to software development. A software engineer is a person who
applies the engineering design process to design, develop,
maintain, test, and evaluate computer software. The
term programmer is sometimes used as a synonym, but may
emphasize software implementation over design and can also lack
connotations of engineering education or skills.
Engineering techniques are used to inform the software
development process, which involves the definition,
implementation, assessment, measurement, management, change,
and improvement of the software life cycle process itself. It heavily
uses software configuration management, which is about
systematically controlling changes to the configuration, and
maintaining the integrity and traceability of the configuration and
code throughout the system life cycle. Modern processes
GEOLOGIST
Geologists are scientists who study the Earth:
its history, nature, materials and processes. There
are many types of geologists: environmental
geologists, who study human impact on the Earth
system; and economic geologists, who explore for
and develop Earth's resources, are just two
examples.
To become a geologist, college students need
to follow the course of study recommended by the
geology departments in their colleges and
universities. While these vary, most schools of
higher education require that their students take (in
addition to their general education requirements) an
array of courses in geoscience, mathematics, life
and physical sciences, plus courses that prepare
students for their specialty areas. Field experiences
SURVEYOR
A surveyor is a professional who is responsible for
measuring and mapping different types of land and
properties. They use specialized tools and equipment to
collect data and create precise representations of the
land and property boundaries. Surveyors are involved in
many types of projects, including construction projects,
real estate transactions, land development, and
environmental assessments. They may work for private
firms, government agencies, or as independent
consultants.
The work of a surveyor involves many tasks,
including researching historical records, analyzing data,
and preparing reports. They also use advanced
technology such as GPS and GIS to produce detailed
maps and other visual representations of the land.
Surveyors must be familiar with legal regulations and
requirements related to land use and property
boundaries. They must also have strong communication
skills, as they often work with a wide range of clients and
stakeholders to ensure that their work meets their needs
and expectations.
FASHION DESIGNER
A fashion designer is someone
who designs clothing, like dresses and
suits. They are often the head of a
design team that works together to
create new collections for their brand
or company each season.
The term “fashion designer” can
also refer to people in other industries
that work with clothing such as
stylists, costume designers, etc.
However you will typically find these
professionals working within the
fashion industry on projects related
