Descriptive Essay On A Small Place
Energetic, boisterous New York City is not the first place someone would think of when they are trying to define themselves. From the beautiful
cathedrals, buildings, and cultures that lie throughout the city, New York is the melting pot of all different aspects of life. Tourists from all over
the world flock to this city to begin or extend their version of the "American dream." Jamaica Kincaid writes of her beautiful country in A Small
Place. When she writes, the audience also sees the ugliness tourism leaves in her country taking away from its beauty. Kincaid's idea that a place
is not just relative to the present or even relevant in the same way for all people helps to explain why, in my own life, New York has given me a
sense of wonder of what not only is but was and a love for history. This sense of wonder and love of history has greatly defined who I am. I have
had the opportunity to travel to New York several times. I was always intrigued by the massive buildings and the overabundance of people. The
bright, blinding lights pulled me into this world from the first moment I stepped off the plane. I came from a place where everyone knew my family
and name, to somewhere where I was insignificant and meaningless; much like so many places in New York had become. I remember looking at this
huge city and just wondering how all this came to be, but all the other tourist around me seemed oblivious to my thoughts. Thousands upon thousands
of people flooded the streets

Profile of a Place Essay
Separate but equal is the approach that my roommate and I took when we moved in. To keep things separate, her things are on the left and mine
are on the right. The equal part comes in if one of us wants to use something of the others (such as a nail clipper or a hair tie.) This means that
almost anything we own is open to use with permission. We decided that we didn't want to combine any of our things just yet because we didn't
know each other that well. I believe it's a good idea because it will reduce the chance of an argument over whose things are whose. Girls seem to be
pettier about their things than boys. Having two girls in such a small space can lead to unwanted confrontation and bitterness. I'm not a territorial person,

All of the red that I have overpowers her green so it's not as if we are "Decking the Halls." Another visual that may catch the eye is the cleanliness
of one side of the room compared to the other. The right side, my side, is always neat and orderly but to the left is normally a wreck. Clothes are
usually everywhere and it makes for a cluttered looking room. When a room is cluttered it looks even smaller. Sometimes when I walk through
the door her towel and dirty clothes are right in the middle of the floor. It's obvious to see that in most cases, she does not honor our "separate but
equal" rule. It's ironic that this is happening because she thought of the idea. I guess she is comfortable enough with me now to join more of our
belongings. Earlier I mentioned a little about the layout of my dorm room. Now, here is the full version. When you come into the dorm, each set
up on the right and left are basically the same. The closets are against the same wall as the door in separate corners. On top of my closet is a big
black stereo, most of the time I have some type of R&B or Neo Soul coming from the speakers. My roommate has the TV and DVD player on top of
her closet. Recently we watched the MTV Music Awards on it. Moving right along to our microwaves, which are located on separate walls, one of
them in sitting on the refrigerator and the other is on two storage bins. All of my laundry items are at the foot

Descriptive Essay About My City
Our town is more home to us than our actual house. We make so much memories around town, whether it's dining out with the family at a local
restaurant or learning how to ride a bike at our local park to spending our first paycheck at the local mall. Our town is very precious and we often
take for granted, what a privilege it is to live in a place where so much is accessible to us. We often oversee all the little things our town offers like
the stores, the parks, the many street lights that keep our town well lit, and the well paved roads. Today I will discuss the description of my town, the
people that make up my neighborhood, and the perks of living in Orland Park.
Orland Park is a southwest suburb in Illinois. It is a well known town due to it's many fine dining restaurants, shopping centers, and great school
district. Orland Park is a busy town and to fit the needs of the people, the busiest street was just remodeled. Lagrange Road was just remodeled and
widened into a three lane road in each direction. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation website, "The project cost ninety–five million
dollars and took three years to complete." Now there is a brick median in the road that is filled with trees, flowers, and small bushes. On the
southbound side of LaGrange Road there is a walking trail, that is also used as a biking trail. Most of the shopping centers and buildings all have the
same design. The buildings consist of tan colored bricks and long but narrow

Descriptive Essay On Campus
Iowa State University offers a large campus. The campus itself entirely is around the size of my hometown. I have lived on campus for a few
weeks now, and I know most of the campus, yet spend most of my time in my dorm. Whenever I am not in my dorm or in class though, I often find
myself wandering around campus. When wandering around campus I usually look for the best spots for me just in case I want to sit around and
relax. Of my favorite spots to visit, they are closer and very appealing to see. They however are also very popular places to visit, so many students
visit them. What I mean by closer, is that these places are not too far away from my dorm on campus. I live in the Wilson Hall dormitory, known
as one of the Towers, and it is quite far from the main campus. Seeing as I walk everyday to and from the main campus to and from my dorm, I tend
to walk the same route, as to shorten the walk time it takes and be familiar with the area. On days I walk to my favorite spot, which is the second
concrete bench next to the Campanile, and I just sit there for hours and relax. Wilson Hall's dining hall is called Storms, and is located maybe 80–100
yards North of Wilson. As I leave through the North East exit of Wilson Hall, I cross the diagonal sidewalk running from Wilson to Storm's East
Entrance/Exit. I tend to eat supper at Storms, and as I exit through the same entrance, I leave and grab an apple to eat along the way heading to the
Campanile. I walk up Welch Street,

Descriptive Essay About A Happy Place
Do you like to be adventurous? Do you enjoy hanging out with friends and being able to start new memories with them? Well this place in Ames,
Iowa will soon be your favorite. Surrounded by growing old trees, I am happy to call this my happy place, but to you it's a whole new area. It's a
new world that I have stepped into for the next four years. It's the center of attention for most students here at, ISU but to me it's a special pinpoint
on a map that can help with countless questions. At nights where they are perfect, you will spend time with friends, get to have fun and start new
memories with them. Now you're probably wondering what this very spot5 is well, I am going to share it with you based on the spectacular
memories I have created here. Its filled with wonderful sounds at every half hour. These sounds are like the wonderful noises that birds make to one
another. Not only is the music so peaceful, but the way that it repeats its same beat just puts a smile on my face. The beat of the music may be songful
to the ear but a reason as to why I chose this was because it lets me know what time it is in the day. It is also a reminder to me that I should be
somewhere in a couple minutes. The reminder is a special aspect of why I wanted to share this place with you because it can help you be productive
in your everyday life. For example, this helps me know that as the wonderful beat plays it is quarter to the hour and that I have to be somewhere in

the afternoon. The sun is starting to drag itself lower, dimming the landscape, leaving a majestic orange on the horizon. The towering structures

Lush, green trees are everywhere. Every house and small business seems to have one or two of them. The car makes it's way down a small street,
with old fashioned houses. The car comes to a halt in front of a beautiful tan house. The house feels cozy. The tan painted planks of wood stack up
until they reach the charcoal shingles of the rooftop. Two enormous windows are on the front of the house, with fine, white curtains that can be
seen hanging from them on the other side. On the left side of a house there is a large chimney, which gives the house a traditional look with it's
brown and red bricks. In the front yard of the house there is a smooth, clean concrete walkway to the front door, surrounded by many bushes, and
flowers; trimmed perfectly. This house is well kept, and it stands out as a beauty in the neighborhood. The man walks up his paved walkway, and
into the house through a large white door, with four small windows on it, and a cross like pattern beneath them. The doors gives of the look as if it is

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place
For many people there is a sweet smell, a pleasing photograph, the familiar sound of happiness that bring them back to a place full of childhood
images. In my life, I was lucky enough to have traveled to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have swum with the dolphins in crystal
blue sea of Phuket Thailand and watch golden ray of the sunshine set behind mount Fuji in Japan. However, no places earth will compare to the
loveliness of my childhood paradise, a place I called home. Barbara Kingsolver writes, "I have a place where all my stories begin," and my story
began at a lake house located on the water edge of Little Toad Lake, Minnesota. (Kingsolver 939). It is where I spent half my life with my dog
(Spike), sister, mom, and dad, through the hot summer days and freezing winter months. The house was built on the side of a steep hill leading
down to a beach front lake. The main entrance had a big double iron door which lead into the living room overlooking the lake. The main living
area had several big windows which let in a brilliant of sunlight onto the dark walnut floor. The fireplace mantle displays a big moose head that my
dad shot on his hunting trip to Alaska (his prize possession). My favorite place of the house would be the kitchen. That's where all my lessons of
cooking started. Thank you to my mom for teaching me the value of cooking. If it wasn't for her I would be eating ramens every day at college. Oh,
the memories we had at the lake house. In the spring, my mom, sister, and I go on long walks in the woods to go mushroom hunting because who
doesn't love free food. I remember making mushroom soup for the first time and almost burning my hands off because I forgot to turn the stove
down to low and the pot was overflowing onto the floor. I could still remember the facial expression on my mom's face, let just say she was not a
happy camper. One summer day, my sister and I were out fishing with my mom on the pontoon and we were catching a lot of fish and out of
nowhere it started pouring rain. My mom started the pontoon and guess what? We ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. It took as over two hours
to paddle back to shore but thank goodness it stopped raining. To this day we still

Descriptive Essay About A Beautiful City
Imagine yourself coming to a city you have never been to for a vacation. You have just gotten a leave from your job and you are expecting a relaxing
vacation without any hassles. After a long flight, you reach your final destination, Pearadex, California. You walk out of the airport into a huge,
beautiful city full of gigantic skyscrapers that is the home of the city's tech industry. As you walk into the downtown area, you see a beautiful fountain
with water gushing out in all directions making its way through the city using a median of streams which resemble a microchip when looked from
above. Little kids are playing in the stream splashing around while the senior citizens sit on pear–shaped benches watching the young children with
glee. Hover cars make their way as they gently glide on top of the river and the streets lining them and guide their passengers home with the low
sound of hover cars powered by compressed gases. Paddle boats and tour gondolas glide across the water gently as their occupants heartily talk
and laugh. Suddenly a bell rings out of nowhere and you are alarmed as you do not know what is going on. You breathe a sigh of relief as you see
kids of all ages flock out of school in the thousands and hear their screams of joy as you walk past. They all dash to Crystal Lake to escape the heat.
The clear water with a hint of blue is full of ripples going off in all directions from the boats and canoes. The familiar smell of freshly cut grass
from the field in Birchland Park enters your nose. You are home! You finally attain your peace and quietness. The neighborhood is very quiet
allowing you to take a peaceful nap and dream about the wonderful sights you will see and the things you will do in this wonderful city tomorrow.
Pearadex city has surpassed all levels expected from the public and is the future generation of cities. It is located in Northern California, United
States of America, and has had quite a big history considering that it was founded on June 19, 1984. Even though this city looks and seems like it
has had a steady and easy going past it has had its fair share of problems. But learning from our mistakes, we have made our city the magnificent city
it is today. First of all, tours

Descriptive Essay : A Place On The Beach
1. Walking home from school an old abandon house on the corner of he street always gives me this weird feeling like im being watch. Friday night
a few friends decide to go and check out the house. After a walking a few miles the were finally there and the feeling of being watched starts to set in a
grows deeper. As were leaving, rain starts to poor like crazy and with home being a few miles away we decide our only place to stay dry is the
house. Walking into the house the first thing we notice is the smell, as if something has died in here long ago. Boards creek from every step we
take, pitch black, and the only noise is the sound of the storm outside. To scared to go anywhere we decide to leave not caring how wet we got. Being
wet is way better then being scarred beyond belief.
2. The place where I feel most comfortable is a place where I am calm. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles. The one place where I
could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the blue water as the sun rays reflect off the water giving it a beautiful glow. A place where
nothing matters but what is in that little moment. Walking on the beach with a slight breeze, cold sand, and the sound of the waves crashing creating a
noise that nothing can replace. Beaches are the perfect happy place.
3. Almost every day of the year this place is loud, crowded, and full of diversity. Black Friday, one day of the year, a special day, the mall is one of the

Descriptive Essay About A Beautiful Place
The sweltering breeze rushes through my fingers as I sit on the soft green grass in the park. It's such a beautiful day, the grassy plane clashes with
the sapphire sky and the sunlight illuminates the delicate area surrounding me. I quickly find myself becoming captivated by the amount of diverse
people who populate the parks space. The athletic runners, dog walkers, and adolescents hidden in their smartphones; which, astonishes me
because who knew that such a beautiful place could bring so many contrasting individuals together. I arise to my feet and began traveling down a
narrow path which aligns itself along a lengthy river, but finally converged with the parkway ahead. An elderly couple sits at the end of the path on
a wooden bench eating ice cream that slowly drizzles down their hands and onto the wedding rings that occupies their fingers. I observe the elderly
couple for a short amount of time noticing how happy and gullible they act towards each other. I slowly began to lose interest in the couple, but then
the elderly woman's ice cream starts to run onto her blouse and the aged husband runs to fetch some napkins, quickly returning with them. A melody
ringing throughout the park quickly drew my attention away from the couple and directed it to the truck that rests on the side of the road. The truck
has a window fixtured on its side where a man hands out ice cream to a long line of kids waiting. Finding myself in line, I notice a younger couple at
the very front who

West Virginia University has hands down the most gorgeous campus I have ever seen. Every morning I would wake up knowing that I have the
privilege of attending a good school with a breathtakingly beautiful campus. I was gradually awoken by the warm rays of sunlight filtering into my
room like a gentle wake up call. I got up to look out the window and I saw my fellow classmates walking to class and going about their days.
Stretching and yawning I prepare myself for the day. I cannot help but to think that today is going to be a good day. As I stepped outside for the first
time I felt the cool breeze gently blowing between the buildings, giving everyone it touches a breath of fresh air. Strolling through campus, I stopped
for a minute to admire how the sun was shining down on like a spotlight on all the beautiful blue and gold flowers. The landscapers worked hard
planting the flowers of the most royal of blues and the perfect shade of golden yellow. Walking further down the hill I saw the familiar "flying dub

strong breeze carried the scent of freshly cut grass to my nose and embraced me as I continued my journey to class. Passing several students on my
way, nodding my head in acknowledgement, a few familiar faces make eye contact and smile. The weather that day was perfect, not too hot, but

Descriptive Essay About My Dream Place
Standing in awe, I review the instructions on the paper ticket I hold in my hand: "1: Close your eyes. 2: Picture your dream place to visit. 3: Insert
this ticket into the ticket feeder." Following the instructions, my eyes close as I take a deep breath. What the one place I dream greatest about? I could
travel anywhere; there are so numerous places I had dreamed of visiting. Shifting through my thoughts, I accordingly choose somewhere I have
imagined for the longest time. I heavily exhale, opening my eyes as my ticket gets pulled into the feeder.
Impatience and excitement are overcoming in the silence as I wait. Suddenly a door appears and swings open. As I step through the doorway into a
blinding light, I almost lose my breath. A peaceful scenery of valleys and flowers appears. Walking down a rubble path in awe of the beautiful
creations, everything prevails more breathtaking than I ever imagined. A path leads into an alluring forest as trees cascade over like a giant archway.
A stream runs along the left side of the path and animals are not as frightful here as what I had known them to be before.
As I reach the end of the forest trail, laughter and music becomes louder; it is a town. Filled with hope, I begin thinking maybe I will see people I
once knew. Skipping down the trail a little faster, I approach a heavy wall that separates the forest and the town. Only a few people notice a new
presence at first as I pull a gate open and step through. Giggles burst from a

stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your
toes is and not a worry in your mind is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide takes place and
you can find sand dollars and unique shells. Beautiful houses and hotels line the beach all with the same withered look they all strive to have, and
balconies on every place to capture the view. This destination is such an important place to Oregonians because its such a magical place. It transports
you into a different dimension where there are no other places like it. You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible
to be in a gloomy mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many opportunities to try to

A Perfect Place?
Crouched beside my father's hospital bed, I prayed for him to stay alive as he ran his trembling fingers through my soft brown curls for the last
time. He focused on my big green eyes as they overflowed with salty tears and whispered: "Sabrina Jane, in no circumstance you will give up
hope." Every night I lay in bed, weary of what tomorrow will bring to me and my family without my valiant father for support and protection from
the oppressive world we are required to live. I am proceeding to follow in his footsteps to turn this 'utopian world' into a free space where people
do not have to be watched, but first I need to get past the government. The government has everyone is fenced in with guards observing their every
move, advised that there is a horrid place outside this world and to never leave since there will always be consequences for everything. Except
there are always people trying to escape the interior facade of distraught, we hear that they all die from reading the Newspaper and the deafening
of the rambunctious sirens that warn us of the dangers from disobeying the Mayor's laws. I hope to be the first one to withdraw the way of living I
was raised to obey. When you walk into my bedroom there are stacks of thick, rough and smooth yellow paper, on all of the paper I have plans for

Descriptive Essay On A Place In The Woods
For many people they have that one place they can go and just relax. For me it's some place in the woods with a stream or creek. So, when I found
this spot while walking around I knew this was the spot I wanted to capture. This piece spoke to me for multiple reasons because I found it in an
area that resembles where I grew up and I took a lot of comfort in that fact. I now have somewhere to go and get away when I need to be alone or if I
need to think about things because of this scavenger hunt. Just by looking at this picture it brings me a feeling of peace and comfort. The first reason
this picture practically shouted at me was because this reminds me of a spot at home that I would visit frequently. I live four hours away in the
country and more specifically on the side off a mountain. Along with that I live in a house with six brothers and a little sister. This said, I am
completely surrounded by woods, not many other attractions, and only my family to drive me insane. So, In the valley by my house we have a
creek that runs through the woods and that was where I would go for everything. If I was mad and needed time to cool off, if I wanted scenery that I
could draw, workouts, and almost anything else you could think of. So, when I found this spot a rush of emotions ran through me because it reminded
me of this. This spot has now become my new thinking spot. I love walking out to it and just sitting along the side to think and I even come out here to

Descriptive Essay On My Comfort Place
Traveling anywhere can be a hectic experience. Thinking about all of the planning and the actual flying can make what's supposed to a relaxing
trip stressful. However, traveling somewhere where you don't know anyone with you or the language where you're going make can amplify the
stress. Going to Bali with my CCS group was something I never thought I would be able to do. The majority of the trips I've been on I've typically
gone alone due to my anxiety disorder, so going somewhere with complete strangers was already out of my comfort zone. However, I've always
wanted to experience other cultures and travel to exotic locations, and I knew to do that knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and select a trip
where I knew nothing about. It turns out selecting Bali for my CCE was the right choice. This trip allowed us to completely immerse into the culture for
two weeks, and allowed us to take time to learn it alongside each other. In those two weeks, I learned that Balinese culture is a culture very different
from our own, and experiencing it was an enormous culture shock. The first notable difference was the food that was served. They didn't have
access to many of the foods that we typically would've eaten back home, or there were foods we ate back home that they simply chose not to eat. For
example, beef is a large portion of the American diet, but due to the Balinese being Hindu they choose not to consume it and instead they'll typically
eat chicken or fish. However

Descriptive Essay On An Apartment
Sometimes letting go can be the best change in life. At first it may seem difficult, holding onto something that had so much time and effort invested
into. However, if at the same time, its inhibiting from living a comfortable and productive life, then it may be necessary making an adjustment. In my
case, my adjustment was leaving an apartment. At the age of eleven, my family; which included my mother, father, and two brothers, had moved into
our last apartment. A home should feel comforting, warm, and safe. This apartment was definitely something I wouldn't be proud to call home.
Seeing the place for the first time, I could recall the apartment building consisted of three sets of flats, all residences in the area were insanely
expensive, especially for its small scaled proportions. Our apartment included two rooms with squeaky doors that had been poorly made, a miniature
bathroom with not much to it, an averaged sized comfortable living room, and the tiniest claustrophobic kitchen where I'd soon later be constantly
crammed between the fridge and counters.Upon stepping into the apartment, two very peculiar features had captured my attention, the kitchen's light
bulb's intense red color and an odor that reeked in a matter I could only describe as cat urine. The rug was of a brown color, disgustingly and
mysteriously stained by whoever had lived in the inhabitable home it previously was, and when stepped on, the wood underneath creaked almost as if
it had warned us before

Descriptive Essay On A Living Place
Growing up I was always on the internet and looking through magazines dreaming of having this amazing bedroom for myself. Now as I'm entering
college and buying everything for my dorm room, having to be very particular about what I was buying since space in so limited in average
residence halls. Everything has to be compact, compact refrigerators, compact microwaves, you have to cut back on the amount of clothes and shoes
you bring with you, which for a girl is a difficult task. Some students not only have to adjust to living on their own and going to school, but also a lot
of dorm rooms are two people bedrooms so some have to adjust to living in close quarters with another human. So as the stress of dorm shopping
started so did my dreams of a bigger and better dorm.
If I was designing and building my own dorm building I would make each dorm a suite with four bedrooms, one student per bedroom. Each student
also gets their own bathroom. The suites would also have a living room for everyone to share and a full size kitchen. There would also be a small
laundry room with a washer, dryer and an iron for the suite mates to share. Each building will have an indoor pool and a small weight room for
exercise to help fight off the freshmen fifteen. The suites would be comprised of four students of the same gender with like interests and compatible
personalities. Once a week, there would be a housekeeper that comes and cleans the entire suite, top to bottom, and go grocery shopping for

Description of My Room Essay
The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the place where I can really be myself and do what
I want; it's the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always
crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax
without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind.
My room has many characteristics of which I share; it has many pictures that I have taken, about my friends or other interesting things that I have

Another reason that my room makes me feel comfortable is that I love to dance, but I am embarrassed to do it in front of other people, so
whenever I am in my room I can turn the radio and put on some of my favorite music and dance my best. My room gives me the confidence that I
don't have in other places, it helps me to have trust in myself, I can do the most ridiculous thing but my room won't say anything, it will never judge
me. My room is the only place where I will try new things and if I feel confident I will try them outside of it. I will give it my best and that is how my
room helps me, by doing something there first I believe more in myself.
It is the place where I can concentrate and think about everything that is going on around me, not only around my city or state, but all over the
world. I get the chance to relax and think in what I want to do with my life, the kind of future I want to achieve. My room is the place where I can
go and do my homework without getting distracted, where I can write down my feelings and open my mind to new ideas. Many times I have gone to
my room and just write about things that are going around in the world that will affect me sooner or later, like global warming. I will think about
everything I have heard, and my room makes me feel comfortable like there is nothing that can stop me from making a comment and saying what is on
my mind.

A Tour of My Favorite Places

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On A Small Place Energetic, boisterous New York City is not the first place someone would think of when they are trying to define themselves. From the beautiful cathedrals, buildings, and cultures that lie throughout the city, New York is the melting pot of all different aspects of life. Tourists from all over the world flock to this city to begin or extend their version of the "American dream." Jamaica Kincaid writes of her beautiful country in A Small Place. When she writes, the audience also sees the ugliness tourism leaves in her country taking away from its beauty. Kincaid's idea that a place is not just relative to the present or even relevant in the same way for all people helps to explain why, in my own life, New York has given me a sense of wonder of what not only is but was and a love for history. This sense of wonder and love of history has greatly defined who I am. I have had the opportunity to travel to New York several times. I was always intrigued by the massive buildings and the overabundance of people. The bright, blinding lights pulled me into this world from the first moment I stepped off the plane. I came from a place where everyone knew my family and name, to somewhere where I was insignificant and meaningless; much like so many places in New York had become. I remember looking at this huge city and just wondering how all this came to be, but all the other tourist around me seemed oblivious to my thoughts. Thousands upon thousands of people flooded the streets Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Profile of a Place Essay Separate but equal is the approach that my roommate and I took when we moved in. To keep things separate, her things are on the left and mine are on the right. The equal part comes in if one of us wants to use something of the others (such as a nail clipper or a hair tie.) This means that almost anything we own is open to use with permission. We decided that we didn't want to combine any of our things just yet because we didn't know each other that well. I believe it's a good idea because it will reduce the chance of an argument over whose things are whose. Girls seem to be pettier about their things than boys. Having two girls in such a small space can lead to unwanted confrontation and bitterness. I'm not a territorial person, ...show more content... All of the red that I have overpowers her green so it's not as if we are "Decking the Halls." Another visual that may catch the eye is the cleanliness of one side of the room compared to the other. The right side, my side, is always neat and orderly but to the left is normally a wreck. Clothes are usually everywhere and it makes for a cluttered looking room. When a room is cluttered it looks even smaller. Sometimes when I walk through the door her towel and dirty clothes are right in the middle of the floor. It's obvious to see that in most cases, she does not honor our "separate but equal" rule. It's ironic that this is happening because she thought of the idea. I guess she is comfortable enough with me now to join more of our belongings. Earlier I mentioned a little about the layout of my dorm room. Now, here is the full version. When you come into the dorm, each set up on the right and left are basically the same. The closets are against the same wall as the door in separate corners. On top of my closet is a big black stereo, most of the time I have some type of R&B or Neo Soul coming from the speakers. My roommate has the TV and DVD player on top of her closet. Recently we watched the MTV Music Awards on it. Moving right along to our microwaves, which are located on separate walls, one of them in sitting on the refrigerator and the other is on two storage bins. All of my laundry items are at the foot Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About My City Our town is more home to us than our actual house. We make so much memories around town, whether it's dining out with the family at a local restaurant or learning how to ride a bike at our local park to spending our first paycheck at the local mall. Our town is very precious and we often take for granted, what a privilege it is to live in a place where so much is accessible to us. We often oversee all the little things our town offers like the stores, the parks, the many street lights that keep our town well lit, and the well paved roads. Today I will discuss the description of my town, the people that make up my neighborhood, and the perks of living in Orland Park. Orland Park is a southwest suburb in Illinois. It is a well known town due to it's many fine dining restaurants, shopping centers, and great school district. Orland Park is a busy town and to fit the needs of the people, the busiest street was just remodeled. Lagrange Road was just remodeled and widened into a three lane road in each direction. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation website, "The project cost ninety–five million dollars and took three years to complete." Now there is a brick median in the road that is filled with trees, flowers, and small bushes. On the southbound side of LaGrange Road there is a walking trail, that is also used as a biking trail. Most of the shopping centers and buildings all have the same design. The buildings consist of tan colored bricks and long but narrow Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay On Campus Iowa State University offers a large campus. The campus itself entirely is around the size of my hometown. I have lived on campus for a few weeks now, and I know most of the campus, yet spend most of my time in my dorm. Whenever I am not in my dorm or in class though, I often find myself wandering around campus. When wandering around campus I usually look for the best spots for me just in case I want to sit around and relax. Of my favorite spots to visit, they are closer and very appealing to see. They however are also very popular places to visit, so many students visit them. What I mean by closer, is that these places are not too far away from my dorm on campus. I live in the Wilson Hall dormitory, known as one of the Towers, and it is quite far from the main campus. Seeing as I walk everyday to and from the main campus to and from my dorm, I tend to walk the same route, as to shorten the walk time it takes and be familiar with the area. On days I walk to my favorite spot, which is the second concrete bench next to the Campanile, and I just sit there for hours and relax. Wilson Hall's dining hall is called Storms, and is located maybe 80–100 yards North of Wilson. As I leave through the North East exit of Wilson Hall, I cross the diagonal sidewalk running from Wilson to Storm's East Entrance/Exit. I tend to eat supper at Storms, and as I exit through the same entrance, I leave and grab an apple to eat along the way heading to the Campanile. I walk up Welch Street, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay About A Happy Place Do you like to be adventurous? Do you enjoy hanging out with friends and being able to start new memories with them? Well this place in Ames, Iowa will soon be your favorite. Surrounded by growing old trees, I am happy to call this my happy place, but to you it's a whole new area. It's a new world that I have stepped into for the next four years. It's the center of attention for most students here at, ISU but to me it's a special pinpoint on a map that can help with countless questions. At nights where they are perfect, you will spend time with friends, get to have fun and start new memories with them. Now you're probably wondering what this very spot5 is well, I am going to share it with you based on the spectacular memories I have created here. Its filled with wonderful sounds at every half hour. These sounds are like the wonderful noises that birds make to one another. Not only is the music so peaceful, but the way that it repeats its same beat just puts a smile on my face. The beat of the music may be songful to the ear but a reason as to why I chose this was because it lets me know what time it is in the day. It is also a reminder to me that I should be somewhere in a couple minutes. The reminder is a special aspect of why I wanted to share this place with you because it can help you be productive in your everyday life. For example, this helps me know that as the wonderful beat plays it is quarter to the hour and that I have to be somewhere in less than twenty Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay Example Descriptive Essay Final The downtown metropolis can be a complex place, and some may need to become accustomed to it. It is Five O' Clock in the afternoon. The sun is starting to drag itself lower, dimming the landscape, leaving a majestic orange on the horizon. The towering structures above leave enormous shadows on the people below. Car horns ring and sirens pulse, as the people make haste towards there destinations, rushing aggressively as if though it is a race. The end of the work day has just began. The craze is unique from anywhere else. An endless flow of people and vehicles seem to liter the area. A man can be seen making his way towards a small parking lot. The parking lot has not been taken care of for some time. Potholes...show more content... Lush, green trees are everywhere. Every house and small business seems to have one or two of them. The car makes it's way down a small street, with old fashioned houses. The car comes to a halt in front of a beautiful tan house. The house feels cozy. The tan painted planks of wood stack up until they reach the charcoal shingles of the rooftop. Two enormous windows are on the front of the house, with fine, white curtains that can be seen hanging from them on the other side. On the left side of a house there is a large chimney, which gives the house a traditional look with it's brown and red bricks. In the front yard of the house there is a smooth, clean concrete walkway to the front door, surrounded by many bushes, and flowers; trimmed perfectly. This house is well kept, and it stands out as a beauty in the neighborhood. The man walks up his paved walkway, and into the house through a large white door, with four small windows on it, and a cross like pattern beneath them. The doors gives of the look as if it is an entryway to heaven. The house is peaceful. Only the birds chirping in the trees can be heard. And as the man enters his house excited children raise there voices, "Daddy Daddy!". This family man is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place For many people there is a sweet smell, a pleasing photograph, the familiar sound of happiness that bring them back to a place full of childhood images. In my life, I was lucky enough to have traveled to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have swum with the dolphins in crystal blue sea of Phuket Thailand and watch golden ray of the sunshine set behind mount Fuji in Japan. However, no places earth will compare to the loveliness of my childhood paradise, a place I called home. Barbara Kingsolver writes, "I have a place where all my stories begin," and my story began at a lake house located on the water edge of Little Toad Lake, Minnesota. (Kingsolver 939). It is where I spent half my life with my dog (Spike), sister, mom, and dad, through the hot summer days and freezing winter months. The house was built on the side of a steep hill leading down to a beach front lake. The main entrance had a big double iron door which lead into the living room overlooking the lake. The main living area had several big windows which let in a brilliant of sunlight onto the dark walnut floor. The fireplace mantle displays a big moose head that my dad shot on his hunting trip to Alaska (his prize possession). My favorite place of the house would be the kitchen. That's where all my lessons of cooking started. Thank you to my mom for teaching me the value of cooking. If it wasn't for her I would be eating ramens every day at college. Oh, the memories we had at the lake house. In the spring, my mom, sister, and I go on long walks in the woods to go mushroom hunting because who doesn't love free food. I remember making mushroom soup for the first time and almost burning my hands off because I forgot to turn the stove down to low and the pot was overflowing onto the floor. I could still remember the facial expression on my mom's face, let just say she was not a happy camper. One summer day, my sister and I were out fishing with my mom on the pontoon and we were catching a lot of fish and out of nowhere it started pouring rain. My mom started the pontoon and guess what? We ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. It took as over two hours to paddle back to shore but thank goodness it stopped raining. To this day we still Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Descriptive Essay About A Beautiful City Imagine yourself coming to a city you have never been to for a vacation. You have just gotten a leave from your job and you are expecting a relaxing vacation without any hassles. After a long flight, you reach your final destination, Pearadex, California. You walk out of the airport into a huge, beautiful city full of gigantic skyscrapers that is the home of the city's tech industry. As you walk into the downtown area, you see a beautiful fountain with water gushing out in all directions making its way through the city using a median of streams which resemble a microchip when looked from above. Little kids are playing in the stream splashing around while the senior citizens sit on pear–shaped benches watching the young children with glee. Hover cars make their way as they gently glide on top of the river and the streets lining them and guide their passengers home with the low sound of hover cars powered by compressed gases. Paddle boats and tour gondolas glide across the water gently as their occupants heartily talk and laugh. Suddenly a bell rings out of nowhere and you are alarmed as you do not know what is going on. You breathe a sigh of relief as you see kids of all ages flock out of school in the thousands and hear their screams of joy as you walk past. They all dash to Crystal Lake to escape the heat. The clear water with a hint of blue is full of ripples going off in all directions from the boats and canoes. The familiar smell of freshly cut grass from the field in Birchland Park enters your nose. You are home! You finally attain your peace and quietness. The neighborhood is very quiet allowing you to take a peaceful nap and dream about the wonderful sights you will see and the things you will do in this wonderful city tomorrow. Pearadex city has surpassed all levels expected from the public and is the future generation of cities. It is located in Northern California, United States of America, and has had quite a big history considering that it was founded on June 19, 1984. Even though this city looks and seems like it has had a steady and easy going past it has had its fair share of problems. But learning from our mistakes, we have made our city the magnificent city it is today. First of all, tours Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Descriptive Essay : A Place On The Beach 1. Walking home from school an old abandon house on the corner of he street always gives me this weird feeling like im being watch. Friday night a few friends decide to go and check out the house. After a walking a few miles the were finally there and the feeling of being watched starts to set in a grows deeper. As were leaving, rain starts to poor like crazy and with home being a few miles away we decide our only place to stay dry is the house. Walking into the house the first thing we notice is the smell, as if something has died in here long ago. Boards creek from every step we take, pitch black, and the only noise is the sound of the storm outside. To scared to go anywhere we decide to leave not caring how wet we got. Being wet is way better then being scarred beyond belief. 2. The place where I feel most comfortable is a place where I am calm. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles. The one place where I could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the blue water as the sun rays reflect off the water giving it a beautiful glow. A place where nothing matters but what is in that little moment. Walking on the beach with a slight breeze, cold sand, and the sound of the waves crashing creating a noise that nothing can replace. Beaches are the perfect happy place. 3. Almost every day of the year this place is loud, crowded, and full of diversity. Black Friday, one day of the year, a special day, the mall is one of the most chaotic places on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Descriptive Essay About A Beautiful Place The sweltering breeze rushes through my fingers as I sit on the soft green grass in the park. It's such a beautiful day, the grassy plane clashes with the sapphire sky and the sunlight illuminates the delicate area surrounding me. I quickly find myself becoming captivated by the amount of diverse people who populate the parks space. The athletic runners, dog walkers, and adolescents hidden in their smartphones; which, astonishes me because who knew that such a beautiful place could bring so many contrasting individuals together. I arise to my feet and began traveling down a narrow path which aligns itself along a lengthy river, but finally converged with the parkway ahead. An elderly couple sits at the end of the path on a wooden bench eating ice cream that slowly drizzles down their hands and onto the wedding rings that occupies their fingers. I observe the elderly couple for a short amount of time noticing how happy and gullible they act towards each other. I slowly began to lose interest in the couple, but then the elderly woman's ice cream starts to run onto her blouse and the aged husband runs to fetch some napkins, quickly returning with them. A melody ringing throughout the park quickly drew my attention away from the couple and directed it to the truck that rests on the side of the road. The truck has a window fixtured on its side where a man hands out ice cream to a long line of kids waiting. Finding myself in line, I notice a younger couple at the very front who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Campus Descriptive Essay West Virginia University has hands down the most gorgeous campus I have ever seen. Every morning I would wake up knowing that I have the privilege of attending a good school with a breathtakingly beautiful campus. I was gradually awoken by the warm rays of sunlight filtering into my room like a gentle wake up call. I got up to look out the window and I saw my fellow classmates walking to class and going about their days. Stretching and yawning I prepare myself for the day. I cannot help but to think that today is going to be a good day. As I stepped outside for the first time I felt the cool breeze gently blowing between the buildings, giving everyone it touches a breath of fresh air. Strolling through campus, I stopped for a minute to admire how the sun was shining down on like a spotlight on all the beautiful blue and gold flowers. The landscapers worked hard planting the flowers of the most royal of blues and the perfect shade of golden yellow. Walking further down the hill I saw the familiar "flying dub v" on every passing persons clothing. Most of my classmates were in a rush to get to class, but I took my time just absorbing my surroundings. A strong breeze carried the scent of freshly cut grass to my nose and embraced me as I continued my journey to class. Passing several students on my way, nodding my head in acknowledgement, a few familiar faces make eye contact and smile. The weather that day was perfect, not too hot, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Following the instructions, my eyes close as I take a deep breath. What the one place I dream greatest about? I could travel anywhere; there are so numerous places I had dreamed of visiting. Shifting through my thoughts, I accordingly choose somewhere I have imagined for the longest time. I heavily exhale, opening my eyes as my ticket gets pulled into the feeder. As I reach the end of the forest trail, laughter and music becomes louder; it is a town. Filled with hope, I begin thinking maybe I will see people I once knew. Skipping down the trail a little faster, I approach a heavy wall that separates the forest and the town. Only a few people notice a new presence at first as I pull a gate open and step through. • 14. Descriptive Essay On A Perfect Place A Perfect Place? Crouched beside my father's hospital bed, I prayed for him to stay alive as he ran his trembling fingers through my soft brown curls for the last time. He focused on my big green eyes as they overflowed with salty tears and whispered: "Sabrina Jane, in no circumstance you will give up hope." Every night I lay in bed, weary of what tomorrow will bring to me and my family without my valiant father for support and protection from the oppressive world we are required to live. I am proceeding to follow in his footsteps to turn this 'utopian world' into a free space where people do not have to be watched, but first I need to get past the government. The government has everyone is fenced in with guards observing their every move, advised that there is a horrid place outside this world and to never leave since there will always be consequences for everything. Except there are always people trying to escape the interior facade of distraught, we hear that they all die from reading the Newspaper and the deafening of the rambunctious sirens that warn us of the dangers from disobeying the Mayor's laws. I hope to be the first one to withdraw the way of living I was raised to obey. When you walk into my bedroom there are stacks of thick, rough and smooth yellow paper, on all of the paper I have plans for my escape, using town sketches and machines for me to construct in order to depart from 'the perfect place'. • 15. Descriptive Essay On A Place In The Woods For many people they have that one place they can go and just relax. For me it's some place in the woods with a stream or creek. So, when I found this spot while walking around I knew this was the spot I wanted to capture. This piece spoke to me for multiple reasons because I found it in an area that resembles where I grew up and I took a lot of comfort in that fact. I now have somewhere to go and get away when I need to be alone or if I need to think about things because of this scavenger hunt. Just by looking at this picture it brings me a feeling of peace and comfort. The first reason this picture practically shouted at me was because this reminds me of a spot at home that I would visit frequently. I live four hours away in the country and more specifically on the side off a mountain. Along with that I live in a house with six brothers and a little sister. This said, I am completely surrounded by woods, not many other attractions, and only my family to drive me insane. So, In the valley by my house we have a creek that runs through the woods and that was where I would go for everything. If I was mad and needed time to cool off, if I wanted scenery that I could draw, workouts, and almost anything else you could think of. • 16. Descriptive Essay On My Comfort Place Traveling anywhere can be a hectic experience. Thinking about all of the planning and the actual flying can make what's supposed to a relaxing trip stressful. However, traveling somewhere where you don't know anyone with you or the language where you're going make can amplify the stress. Going to Bali with my CCS group was something I never thought I would be able to do. The majority of the trips I've been on I've typically gone alone due to my anxiety disorder, so going somewhere with complete strangers was already out of my comfort zone. However, I've always wanted to experience other cultures and travel to exotic locations, and I knew to do that knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and select a trip where I knew nothing about. It turns out selecting Bali for my CCE was the right choice. This trip allowed us to completely immerse into the culture for two weeks, and allowed us to take time to learn it alongside each other. In those two weeks, I learned that Balinese culture is a culture very different from our own, and experiencing it was an enormous culture shock. The first notable difference was the food that was served. They didn't have access to many of the foods that we typically would've eaten back home, or there were foods we ate back home that they simply chose not to eat. For example, beef is a large portion of the American diet, but due to the Balinese being Hindu they choose not to consume it and instead they'll typically eat chicken or fish. • 17. Descriptive Essay On An Apartment Sometimes letting go can be the best change in life. At first it may seem difficult, holding onto something that had so much time and effort invested into. However, if at the same time, its inhibiting from living a comfortable and productive life, then it may be necessary making an adjustment. In my case, my adjustment was leaving an apartment. At the age of eleven, my family; which included my mother, father, and two brothers, had moved into our last apartment. A home should feel comforting, warm, and safe. This apartment was definitely something I wouldn't be proud to call home. Seeing the place for the first time, I could recall the apartment building consisted of three sets of flats, all residences in the area were insanely expensive, especially for its small scaled proportions. Our apartment included two rooms with squeaky doors that had been poorly made, a miniature bathroom with not much to it, an averaged sized comfortable living room, and the tiniest claustrophobic kitchen where I'd soon later be constantly crammed between the fridge and counters.Upon stepping into the apartment, two very peculiar features had captured my attention, the kitchen's light bulb's intense red color and an odor that reeked in a matter I could only describe as cat urine. The rug was of a brown color, disgustingly and mysteriously stained by whoever had lived in the inhabitable home it previously was, and when stepped on, the wood underneath creaked almost as if it had warned us before Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Descriptive Essay On A Living Place Growing up I was always on the internet and looking through magazines dreaming of having this amazing bedroom for myself. Now as I'm entering college and buying everything for my dorm room, having to be very particular about what I was buying since space in so limited in average residence halls. Everything has to be compact, compact refrigerators, compact microwaves, you have to cut back on the amount of clothes and shoes you bring with you, which for a girl is a difficult task. Some students not only have to adjust to living on their own and going to school, but also a lot of dorm rooms are two people bedrooms so some have to adjust to living in close quarters with another human. So as the stress of dorm shopping started so did my dreams of a bigger and better dorm. If I was designing and building my own dorm building I would make each dorm a suite with four bedrooms, one student per bedroom. Each student also gets their own bathroom. The suites would also have a living room for everyone to share and a full size kitchen. There would also be a small laundry room with a washer, dryer and an iron for the suite mates to share. Each building will have an indoor pool and a small weight room for exercise to help fight off the freshmen fifteen. The suites would be comprised of four students of the same gender with like interests and compatible personalities. Once a week, there would be a housekeeper that comes and cleans the entire suite, top to bottom, and go grocery shopping for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Description of My Room Essay The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it's the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind. My room has many characteristics of which I share; it has many pictures that I have taken, about my friends or other interesting things that I have found. Another reason that my room makes me feel comfortable is that I love to dance, but I am embarrassed to do it in front of other people, so whenever I am in my room I can turn the radio and put on some of my favorite music and dance my best. My room gives me the confidence that I don't have in other places, it helps me to have trust in myself, I can do the most ridiculous thing but my room won't say anything, it will never judge me. My room is the only place where I will try new things and if I feel confident I will try them outside of it. I will give it my best and that is how my room helps me, by doing something there first I believe more in myself. It is the place where I can concentrate and think about everything that is going on around me, not only around my city or state, but all over the world. I get the chance to relax and think in what I want to do with my life, the kind of future I want to achieve. My room is the place where I can go and do my homework without getting distracted, where I can write down my feelings and open my mind to new ideas. Many times I have gone to my room and just write about things that are going around in the world that will affect me sooner or later, like global warming. I will think about everything I have heard, and my room makes me feel comfortable like there is nothing that can stop me from making a comment and saying what is on my mind.
