This document summarizes a study that analyzed antigen expression patterns in different subtypes of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) using flow cytometry. Bone marrow samples from 30 newly diagnosed MDS patients classified as refractory anemia (RA), refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts (RARS), or refractory anemia with excess blasts (RAEB) were analyzed for antigen expression on granulocytic, monocytic, erythroid and lymphoid lineages. The study found no significant differences in antigen expression between subtypes for granulocytic lineages. For erythroid lineages, the percentage of CD71-positive cells was significantly lower in RAEB compared to R
Transfixant Injuries of the Mediastinum Always a Challengeijtsrd
Transfixant injuries of the mediastinum are those in which the aggressor object travels through the midline of the thorax, where the mediastinum is located, being associated with high morbidity and mortality. This review of the literature addressed several aspects of the theme, including diagnosis and treatment. A search was carried out in Pubmed, Scopus and Scielo databases, using indexed descriptors and selection of articles by peers. Mortality rates from 20 to 87 among the victims of this injury modality were observed, varying due to the proportion of unstable patients. In patients undergoing thoracotomy resuscitation, mortality rates between 85 100 . The treatment consisted of maintaining the patients hemodynamic status, so that patients with imminent death in the emergency service should undergo resuscitation thoracotomy, unstable patients should undergo emergency thoracotomy After a brief clinical diagnostic evaluation, while stable patients benefit from further investigation and in up to 60 of the cases, do not require a surgical approach. It was concluded, therefore, that such lesions are associated with high morbidity and mortality, and their approach differs according to the patients hemodynamic profile in the emergency room. Emergency services should be prepared to meet this new patient profile, which arrives at prompt care with severe injuries and increasingly critical clinical conditions. Novel tools for immune quiecense monitoring in kidney transplanation poster a...Kevin Jaglinski
Organ transplant patients face life-long immunosuppression (IS) with increased morbidity. Currently unknown numbers of kidney transplant recipients develop a state of targeted immune quiescence (Operational Tolerance, TOL) allowing them to withdraw IS while retaining stable graft function and continuing immune responses against 3rd party antigens. Transcriptional Profiling Peripheral Blood is a means to provide a gene signature to monitor this state of TOL, to titrate IS in patients with this signature, and to better understand the underlying biology.

The current study was a cross-sectional study with a sample size of 117 patients with sepsis. Various hematological parameters of all the patients were obtained on day of admission (day 1) and seventh day (day 7) using hemogram reports and the difference of their statistical mean and standard deviation was estimated.
A case report on Rheumatoid Arthritis with sickle cell traitPARUL UNIVERSITY
A female patient aged 6 years, a suspected case of sickle cell trait (SCT) having symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA),
while evaluating joint complaints in adult sickle cell disease (SCD) patients, a number of sickle cell-based entities come
to mind such as avascular necrosis, osteomyelitis, bone infarcts, and septic arthritis. RA is a chronic systemic
inflammatory disease, many reports highlighted the occurrence of RA in SCD presenting as diagnostic challenges for
cases with chronic inflammatory arthritis, SCT also have appeared to persist in some populations at a perplexingly high
rate given the degree of early mortality of homozygosity of SCD, our case report showed that not only SCD but if a patient
has SCT they can develop RA as complication. Our case report concludes that during the evaluation of a SCT patient who
presents with chronic synovitis, one should strongly consider the possibility of coexistence of RA and SCT.
