This incredible master spa retreat was the antithesis of the old cramped bathroom that it replaced. Space and light abound to create a peaceful setting often only found in the most exclusive resorts. A cedar accent wall with concealed lighting form the backdrop for the stunning free standing tub. Wall mounted fixtures showcase the homeowners discerning style. The open wet area design also shows off the three shower head options (rainhead, handheld, standard). The rainhead fixture also is comprised of four tilting tiles to control water flow and direction. A floating vanity with large drawers adds to the functional, contemporary style and makings cleaning a breeze. The toilet is hidden behind the sink wall and additional storage is available behind the wood accent wall. Detailed tile work and wood work round out the craftsmanship for this master suite oasis.

The designed area is thoughtful outcome of placement of all plot areas and open spaces in synchronization. The microclimate is integral part of this plan.
The planning is as per the natural characteristic of land pertaining to the topography, type of vegetation and climatic aspects of the surroundings. Instead of cutting the existing tress, they are properly maintained and nurtured. All varieties of trees from big trees to small planters with creepers and grass are seen around.Various landscape elements as pathways, fences, rock gardens, water bodies, pergolas, avenues, bridges are used appropriately in design. The space caters to need of every age group with community centers, parks, avenues, health centers thus creating a good built in environment.

This presentation explores Singapore libraries’ approaches to sustainability in the planning and designing of library spaces and experiences; and how the three key principles: Sustainability, Inclusiveness and Technology bring about nature and social connectedness in the design of NLB’s three latest libraries (Choa Chu Kang Library, Punggol Library and Central Library) in Singapore’s public library network.

1. Des Moines Public Library, Franklin Avenue Library
Interior and Exterior Signage Solution for
LEED® Platinum Public Library
The Franklin Avenue branch of the Des Moines Public Library is the newest and most heavily trafficked
location of the six branches that comprise the library system. To serve the growing needs of Franklin
Avenue visitors, a renovation and expansion project was begun to double the size of the facility. The
library administration’s goal was to not just expand the library, but also to make it a model of energy
efficiency for new building construction in the Des Moines area. The library renovation was made possible
by a $2.2 million I-JOBS grant to maximize the energy efficiency of the library. The newly renovated
library includes new children and teen areas, 30 public computers stations with Internet access, a
fireplace reading area and a larger meeting room. Prior to the expansion, the library was 14,650 square
feet with a collection of less than 105,000. After the expansion, the library grew to 28,590 square feet
and it became the first Des Moines Public Library facility to earn LEED® Platinum certification.
