How much did you know about the history of Human Rights?
The Challenge of Human Rights_ traces the history of human rights theory
from classical antiquity through the enlightenment to the modern human
rights movement, and analyses the significance of human rights in today’s
increasingly globalized world. Provides an engaging study of the origin
and the philosophical and political development of human rights
discourse. Offers an original defence of human rights. Explores the
significance of human rights in the context of increasing globalisation.
Confronts the major objections to human rights, including the charge of
western ethical imperialism and cultural relativism. Argues that human
rights logically culminate in an ethical cosmopolitanism to reflect the
moral unity of the human race
What has impacted you the most?
Pre-service teacher education on LGBTI rights and inclusion is impacted
by multiple conflicting education governance provisions carrying
different risks and duties for teachers. Pre-service teacher education
has an international reach – catering to both international pre-service
teachers and domestic pre-service teachers destined for careers and
travel abroad. This paper argues that pre-service teacher education
efforts focussing solely on local education treatments of LGBTI rights
may leave pre-service teachers sorely underprepared for the differing
education contexts they may encounter. The article proposes that teacher
educators should communicate relevant international human rights
legislation provisions and education policies on LGBTIs. It provides
overviews of LGBTI identities, laws and policies, and data across
multiple contexts based on key informant interview data and desk-based
research. It argues that some sources on LGBTIs are unreliable and
informed by broader disruptive geopolitical efforts, and suggests why
and how to train pre-service teachers to avoid them.
Although some dictionaries define the word right as "a privilege",
when used in the context of "human rights", we are talking about
2. something more basic. Everyone has certain fundamental rights, simply
because of being human. They are called "human rights" instead of
"privileges" (which can be withdrawn at someone's whim). Everyone has
certain rights, simply because of being human.
as the video says we all have human rights the simply that we are born
we already have rights we must respect and value each human being.
