2. Introduction
•Adhesive materials have undergone great
progress in the last decades
It has many generations which purpose to
increase the strength of bonding and reduce
the number of bottles
3. 8th generation
•As we study this semester , there is 7
generations of bonding system
•Recently , In 2010, voco America introduced
the last generation of bonding agent
4. 8th generation
•The advantages of 8th generation :
•1- It’s all in 1 step : they limit the number of
bottles to one like the seven generation so
reducing clinical time
5. 8th generation
•2- The thing that makes this generation
significant is the use of nanosize fillers
•As we know, Nano-fillers with dimensions
larger than 15–20 nm may cause cracks and
decrease in the bond strength
•So they use in this bond 12 nm fillers
6. 8th generation
•The use of nanosize fillers increases the
penetration of resin monomers and the hybrid
layer thickness, which in turn improves the
mechanical properties of the bonding systems
7. 8th generation
3- It has been observed that filled bonding
agents produced higher bond strength
4- Longer shelf life
5-Stress absorption
8. 8th generation
Previously ,It was a challenge to make the bond
strength in self etching agents similar to total
etching agents
Because there is no rinse after etching so it
cause sensitivity to teeth and the lower acidity
of etching decrease the bond strength
9. Conclusion
•But now in 8th generation the bond strength is
too acceptable to use clinically
•Lastly , Here is a table that show the
comparison between the generations in many
aspects
•And Absolutely THANKS FOR LISTING
