Dementia is actually a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes that are as a
result of brain disease or an injury that is marked by impaired reasoning, memory disorder and
eventually personality changes. In certain circumstances, memories may not be approximately as
fuzzy as ones thought. Then if in the real sense, if our minds are not fuzzy why we do at certain
circumstances forget issues? Often we normally find ourselves searching our able memory for
the accurate answers without calling for the visual reminder. Dementia may as a result of a
decreased flow of blood to the brain due to the aging factor of a person which leads to impaired
memory. This conceptual paper explores the concept of dementia in the contemporary world.
According to studies, dementia is not a certain infection. Dementia in other terms is defined
by a group of symptoms that tends to affect the memory, social abilities and eventually thinking
that sometimes severely affects the functioning of the brain. Although dementia includes memory
loss, having memory loss does not mean that you are suffering from dementia. In the older adults,
the main cause of progressive dementia is Alzheimer's disease. Some of the key causes of dementia
can be reversed in the contemporary world (Prince, 2015).
The main symptoms of dementia include memory loss, difficulties in reasoning,
communicating, confusion and disorientation and difficulties in the coordination of the mortar

functions in the body. The psychological changes that occur to a person suffering from dementia
include depression' agitation, anxiety, personality changes among others (Prince, 2015). This has
been fully brought into our contemporary world by studies that have been already done.
In conclusion the issue of dementia has turned to be a critical issue in the society. There
has no clear test that can be used to determine if someone is suffering from dementia. Therefore,
its treatment depends on the root cause. Some of the types of dementia have got no cure at all
though medication can be supplied in order to slow the progression. The drugs that are offered to
treat Alzheimer's are that are made to improve the symptoms to other related causes of dementia.
Non-drug therapies can also be utilized to alleviate symptoms related to dementia. The only
treatment that can be offered is through extensive research on dementia.
