vs. the Dell Latitude 7430 laptop and the Dell Latitude 7420 laptop
Selecting a strong device for your workforce can be a challenge. By looking at performance from multiple angles, you can get a fuller idea of which device could serve them best. During testing with MobileMark 25, the HP EliteBook 845 G9 Notebook PC demonstrated longer battery life despite its smaller battery capacity. In plugged-in, unplugged, and sustained performance benchmark testing, it also presented competitive benchmark
scores, cooler overall surface temperatures, and acoustics on par with the previous-gen and current-gen Dell Latitude laptops we tested. Taking these results together, the HP EliteBook 845 G9 Notebook PC could be a compelling choice for remote, hybrid, or in-office employees.

Get better benchmark performance, longer battery life, and better thermal and acoustic experiences than with a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11
For hybrid and remote workers who transport devices from place to place, any environment has the potential to become a work environment. A high-performing, portable laptop can be key to a positive user experience, and so can longer battery life, lower heat output, and quieter acoustics. According to publicly available information, the Dell Latitude Ultralight 7440 starts at a weight 0.15 lb. (or .06 kg) less than the starting weight of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11.14,15 When we ran tests on both laptops, we kept the systems unplugged to measure what kind of performance and battery consumption a user might expect during their workday. The Dell system achieved performance equivalent to or better than the Lenovo system while requiring minimal to no additional battery life to do so. We found that not only did it deliver 12 hours and 2 minutes of battery life—a workday and a half—but it also ran quieter in our tests. Our testing also showed that the Dell system ran cooler under an intensive workload, potentially reducing processor throttling to deliver better performance. Whatever the work environment, these results indicate that the Dell Latitude 7440 Ultralight Laptop

If you’re tackling design, media, or photography projects, consider upgrading to a Dell™ Precision™ mobile workstation instead of a Latitude™ laptop. Mobile workstations can come with a superior processor, advanced graphics, additional memory, and are specifically designed to perform those resource-intensive tasks. This increased capability can come at a steeper price, but our research shows that, in this case, the performance benefits quickly outweigh the difference in cost.
Boosting productivity and security with modern devices: A comparative studyPrincipled Technologies
We examined how migrating to Dell Latitude 7430 and OptiPlex 7400 PCs preloaded with Windows 11 Pro and Microsoft security features could affect day-to-day productivity
To set up organizations for success now and in the future, company-provided technology must empower employees to finish work without delay and reduce security vulnerabilities. If your company is considering a Dell business PC refresh, our first phase of testing demonstrates that updated hardware in Dell Latitude 7430 laptops and Dell OptiPlex 7400 AIO desktops can deliver better performance while users perform workday tasks, use compute-intensive applications, or multi-task. Our second phase of testing shows that the Latitude 7430 and OptiPlex 7400 PCs we tested—equipped with Windows 11 Pro and default Microsoft security features enabled, including VBS—outperformed their two-year-old Windows 10 Pro counterparts with VBS disabled. Any decision to refresh employee devices can be daunting, but with Dell Latitude 7430 laptops and Dell OptiPlex 7400 AIO desktops running Windows 11 Pro, employees can benefit from more responsive systems preloaded with kernel-level security.
Total cost of ownership: Save with a Dell Venue 11 Pro 2 in 1 Intel vPro vs. ...Principled Technologies
We estimated costs for an organization to purchase, deploy, manage, and secure a Dell Venue 11 Pro 2 in 1 with Intel Core processor featuring Intel vPro technology versus a sub-$1,000 laptop combined with either an iPad or Android tablet. At first blush, one might expect a laptop and a low-cost tablet to be cheaper than a 2 in 1 Intel vPro. That was not true for this comparison: The Dell Venue 11 Pro device at $1289.97 including tablet dock and keyboard case did cost more than the laptop model we used in this analysis, which was priced at $779.00. The cost advantages of the Dell Venue 11 Pro became obvious when we added in the costs of the tablet, hardware support, consumer tablet replacement costs, and costs to deploy, manage, secure, and support two devices versus one Dell Venue 11 Pro 2 in 1 Intel vPro device with business-grade security. The savings would become even more dramatic if you factored in the costs associated with additional peripheral devices and accessories, and the time employees must spend managing files and content (costs we omitted from our analysis).
For companies that want to provide their workers with tablet devices and for companies that support bring-your-own employee-purchased or BYOD solutions, the benefits of a single 2 in 1 device such as the Dell Venue 11 Pro 2 in 1 Intel vPro are many.
Boost PC performance: How more available memory can improve productivityPrincipled Technologies
With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience
Conclusion
When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.

We compared processing and graphics performance between a ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 with a 13th Gen Intel Core processor and a 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro (2023) with an M2 Max chip
Conclusion
In a nutshell: The Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 mobile workstation delivered on price, processing power, and workload performance. When we ordered systems for this price and performance comparison, the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 with an Intel Core i9-13900H processor and (optional) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 Ada-generation discrete graphics cost $240.07 less than a 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro (2023) with an M2 Max processor. Bonus content: In addition to receiving higher productivity, digital content creation, AI-based processing, and machine learning benchmark scores, the Intel Core i9-13900H processor-powered Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 also elevated remote collaboration experiences with lower CPU consumption, better background noise reduction, and greater speaker volume output during Zoom meetings than the M2 Max processor-powered Apple MacBook Pro (2023).

Investing in GenAI: Cost‑benefit analysis of Dell on‑premises deployments vs....Principled Technologies
Conclusion
Diving into the world of GenAI has the potential to yield a great many benefits for your organization, but it first requires consideration for how best to implement those GenAI workloads. Whether your AI goals are to create a chatbot for online visitors, generate marketing materials, aid troubleshooting, or something else, implementing an AI solution requires careful planning and decision-making. A major decision is whether to host GenAI in the cloud or keep your data on premises. Traditional on-premises solutions can provide superior security and control, a substantial concern when dealing with large amounts of potentially sensitive data. But will supporting a GenAI solution on site be a drain on an organization’s IT budget?
In our research, we found that the value proposition is just the opposite: Hosting GenAI workloads on premises, either in a traditional Dell solution or using a managed Dell APEX pay-per-use solution, could significantly lower your GenAI costs over 3 years compared to hosting these workloads in the cloud. In fact, we found that a comparable AWS SageMaker solution would cost up to 3.8 times as much and an Azure ML solution would cost up to 3.6 times as much as GenAI on a Dell APEX pay-per-use solution. These results show that organizations looking to implement GenAI and reap the business benefits to come can find many advantages in an on-premises Dell solution, whether they opt to purchase and manage it themselves or choose a subscription-based Dell APEX pay-per-use solution. Choosing an on-premises Dell solution could save your organization significantly over hosting GenAI in the cloud, while giving you control over the security and privacy of your data as well as any updates and changes to the environment, and while ensuring your environment is managed consistently.
Workstations powered by Intel can play a vital role in CPU-intensive AI devel...Principled Technologies
In three AI development workflows, Intel processor-powered workstations delivered strong performance, without using their GPUs, making them a good choice for this part of the AI process
Conclusion
We executed three AI development workflows on tower workstations and mobile workstations from three vendors, with each workflow utilizing only the Intel CPU cores, and found that these platforms were suitable for carrying out various AI tasks. For two of the workflows, we learned that completing the tasks on the tower workstations took roughly half as much time as on the mobile workstations. This supports the idea that the tower workstations would be appropriate for a development environment for more complex models with a greater volume of data and that the mobile workstations would be well-suited for data scientists fine-tuning simpler models. In the third workflow, we explored tower workstation performance with different precision levels and learned that using 16-bit floating point precision allowed the workstations to execute the workflow in less time and also reduced memory usage dramatically. For all three AI workflows we executed, we consider the time the workstations needed to complete the tasks to be acceptable, and believe that these workstations can be appropriate, cost-effective choices for these kinds of activities.
Enable security features with no impact to OLTP performance with Dell PowerEd...Principled Technologies
Get comparable online transaction processing (OLTP) performance with or without enabling AMD Secure Memory Encryption and AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization - Encrypted State
Conclusion
You’ve likely already implemented many security measures for your servers, which may include physical security for the data center, hardware-level security, and software-level security. With the cost of data breaches high and still growing, however, wise IT teams will consider what additional security measures they may be able to implement.
AMD SME and SEV-ES are technologies that are already available within your AMD processor-powered 16th Generation Dell PowerEdge servers—and in our testing, we saw that they can offer extra layers of security without affecting performance. We compared the online transaction processing performance of a Dell PowerEdge R7625 server, powered by AMD EPYC 9274F processors, with and without these two security features enabled. We found that enabling AMD Secure Memory Encryption and Secure Encrypted Virtualization-Encrypted State did not impact performance at all.
If your team is assessing areas where you might be able to enhance security—without paying a large performance cost—consider enabling AME SME and AMD SEV-ES in your Dell PowerEdge servers.

In high-temperature test scenarios, a Dell PowerEdge HS5620 server continued running an intensive workload without component warnings or failures, while a Supermicro SYS‑621C-TN12R server failed
Conclusion: Remain resilient in high temperatures with the Dell PowerEdge HS5620 to help increase efficiency
Increasing your data center’s temperature can help your organization make strides in energy efficiency and cooling cost savings. With servers that can hold up to these higher everyday temperatures—as well as high temperatures due to unforeseen circumstances—your business can continue to deliver the performance your apps and clients require.
When we ran an intensive floating-point workload on a Dell PowerEdge HS5620 and a Supermicro SYS-621CTN12R in three scenario types simulating typical operations at 25°C, a fan failure, and an HVAC malfunction, the Dell server experienced no component warnings or failures. In contrast, the Supermicro server experienced warnings in all three scenario types and experienced component failures in the latter two tests, rendering the system unusable. When we inspected and analyzed each system, we found that the Dell PowerEdge HS5620 server’s motherboard layout, fans, and chassis offered cooling design advantages.
For businesses aiming to meet sustainability goals by running hotter data centers, as well as those concerned with server cooling design, the Dell PowerEdge HS5620 is a strong contender to take on higher temperatures during day-to-day operations and unexpected malfunctions.

We deployed this modern environment, then migrated database VMs from legacy servers and saw performance improvements that support consolidation
Conclusion
If your organization’s transactional databases are running on gear that is several years old, you have much to gain by upgrading to modern servers with new processors and networking components and an OpenShift environment. In our testing, a modern OpenShift environment with a cluster of three Dell PowerEdge R7615 servers with 4th Generation AMD EPYC processors and high-speed 100Gb Broadcom NICs outperformed a legacy environment with MySQL VMs running on a cluster of three Dell PowerEdge R7515 servers with 3rd Generation AMD EPYC processors and 25Gb Broadcom NICs. We also easily migrated a VM from the legacy environment to the modern environment, with only a few steps required to set up and less than ten minutes of hands-on time. The performance advantage of the modern servers would allow a company to reduce the number of servers necessary to perform a given amount of database work, thus lowering operational expenditures such as power and cooling and IT staff time for maintenance. The high-speed 100Gb Broadcom NICs in this solution also give companies better network performance and networking capacity to grow as they embrace emerging technologies such as AI that put great demands on networks.

Compared to a cluster of PowerEdge R750 servers running VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5
Conclusion
If your company is struggling with underperforming infrastructure, upgrading to 16th Generation Dell PowerEdge servers running VCF 5.1 could be just what you need to handle more database throughput and reduce vSAN latencies. We found that a Dell PowerEdge R760 server cluster running VCF 5.1 processed over 78 percent more TPM and 79 percent more NOPM than a Dell PowerEdge R750 server cluster running VCF 4.5. It’s also worth noting that the PowerEdge R750 cluster bottlenecked on vSAN storage, with max write latency at 8.9ms. For reference, the PowerEdge R760 cluster clocked in at 3.8ms max write latency. This higher latency is due in part to the single disk group per host on the moderately configured PowerEdge R750 cluster, while the better-configured PowerEdge R760 cluster supported four disk groups per host. As an additional benefit to IT admins, we also found that the embedded VMware Aria Operation adapter provided useful infrastructure insights.

What we tested
The Dell Latitude 9420 and Lenovo ThinkPad X1
Carbon Gen 9 laptops we tested were powered by
identical Intel Core i7-1185G7 vPro processors and
equipped with 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of
PCIe®

equipped with a 60Whr battery and the Lenovo
ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 came equipped with a
57whr battery—the closest batteries we could find.
For the plugged in tests, we set the Windows power
mode sliders on both laptops to “Best performance”
as best practices for benchmarks that run on AC power.
For MobileMark 2018—a battery life benchmark that
runs on DC power, we left these power mode sliders
in the default “Better performance”position. These are
Windows-specific settings which are separate from the
Dell- and Lenovo-specific thermal management settings
we discuss in this report.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Xi Carbon Gen 9 default
thermal management setting while plugged in is
Maximize Performance and Balanced when the laptop
is unplugged. The Dell Latitude 9420 default thermal
management setting is always Optimized Mode. In all
head-to-head test scenarios, we left the laptops in their
default thermal management settings.
In addition to head-to-head laptop testing, we also
explored the adaptive thermal management modes
available on the Dell Latitude 9420. Next to each head-
to-head test result on the following pages, we also
show how switching to different Latitude 9420 adaptive
thermal management modes affected its performance,
temperature, and noise balance. We talk more about

As mentioned on page 2, we set the Windows power mode slider on both Windows 10 Pro business laptops to
best performance. However, Dell Latitude 9420 users can also dial in the performance, noise, and temperature
balance that best suits their specific use preferences. The default thermal management setting is Optimized
Mode, but you can configure these thermal settings (like we did in performance, temperature, and sound
comparisons) using the Dell Power Manager application or in the BIOS.
Optimized Mode
is the default setting.
It balances performance,
noise, and temperature.
Cool Mode
prioritizes lower temperatures over
performance and noise. It is a good
option for people who work with
their computers on their laps.
Quiet Mode
is designed for spaces
where noise is a concern.
Ultra Performance Mode
prioritizes high performance over
temperature and noise. It is ideal for
multi-taskers or anyone using
graphics-intensive programs.4
At the time of testing, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 used Adaptive Thermal Management to
automatically switch between Maximize Performance (reduces CPU throttling) and Balanced (balances
performance, noise, and temperature). The default plugged in thermal management setting was Maximize
Performance. The default unplugged thermal management setting was Balanced.5
We note in each graph and caption which Dell- and Lenovo-specific thermal management setting was enabled
on each laptop during that particular test.

4. Unlock productivity
There is no single advantage that can guarantee productivity. However, one near-universal factor in productivity
is system responsiveness. The faster a system pulls up the website you’re looking at or loads the apps you
use every day, the more time you have to focus on the tasks in front of you. We found that the Dell Latitude
9420 handled SYSmark 25 application-based scenarios better than the similarly configured Lenovo ThinkPad
X1 Carbon Gen 9.
Experience better day-to-day system responsiveness
But most of us don’t work in a bubble—we need to meet with teammates and present our ideas to clients. So,
the faster you can start a video-conferencing call or edit a spreadsheet before sending it off for approval, the
more seamless your brainstorming sessions can be. We found that the Dell Latitude 9420 ranked slightly better
in PCMark 10 overall ratings than the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9.

For users who don’t want to be tied to an outlet or are constantly on the move from one meeting to another,
an extra hour of battery life that doesn’t negatively impact system responsiveness can also be a productivity
lifesaver. We found that the Dell Latitude 9420 delivered over thirteen hours of strong, unplugged performance.
Work unplugged for an hour longer without sacrificing performance
Unlock capability
While you may not render 3D images on your business computer, knowing your system can handle something
as complex and resource-intensive as 3D rendering might make you feel confident about whatever your inbox
will bring your way. For this comparison, we used Cinebench R23, a benchmark that measures both single-core
and multi-core hardware capabilities. Complex spreadsheets, photo and video editing apps, scientific simulation
software, graphics-intensive games, and 3D modeling and rendering programs rely on multi-core performance.6
In our tests, both laptops performed comparably in single-core and multi-core scenarios. For context, CGDirector
claims that gamers need a device that scores above 1,000 Cinebench R23 single-core points.7
We also dialed in
the Ultra Performance Mode option under thermal management preferences on the Dell Latitude 9420 and ran
the benchmark again.

6. Comparing hardware capabilities, system responsiveness,
acoustics, and battery life with benchmarks
Cinebench R23, SYSmark 25, PCMark 10, and MobileMark 2018 benchmarks put
devices through real-world workloads based on activities business users encounter
on a daily basis.8,9,10,11
The battery life and benchmark scores we report reflect the
specific configurations we tested. Any difference in the configurations you test, as
well as screen brightness, network traffic, or software additions, can affect these
results. For a deeper dive into our testing parameters and procedures, read the

Get comfortable with a cooler laptop
Configuring your laptop with a high-performing processor, such as the Intel Core i7-1185G7 vPro processor in
both business laptops we tested, can result in more noticeable heat on the surface of the device during resource-
intensive tasks. To measure the difference Latitude 9420 thermal settings make, we also ran the resource-
intensive PCMark 10 benchmark on the Latitude 9420 and took its temperatures twice: once when we left the
Latitude 9420 thermal preference in Optimized Mode and once when we set it to Cool Mode.

Not a fan of laptop noise?
Being able to manage your laptop’s processor and cooling fan settings to suit your personal preferences can
have a positive impact on the time you spend in front of your laptop. As an example, rustling leaves or a whisper
deliver noise levels of 20 dB and a library registers at 40 dB.12
We also dialed in the Quiet Mode option under
thermal management preferences on the Dell Latitude 9420 and ran the benchmark again.

8. Are you ready for your closeup?
Picture quality assessment is subjective. So, here are two selfies, taken by a PT engineer, using the IR webcams
pre-installed on both the Dell Latitude 9420 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9. Note: The Latitude
9420 came equipped with Intel IPU 6 (Image Processing Unit) camera technology, which means users can adjust
picture settings like brightness, HDR (High Dynamic Range), ISO, and shutter speed.13
At the time of testing, the
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 did not have Intel IPU 6 camera technology.14
You be the judge—which IR webcam delivers a better-quality image?
Conclusion
No matter where you’re working from, the computer you’re working on can help or hinder you. In our hands-on
comparison of a Dell Latitude 9420 laptop and a similarly configured Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 laptop,
we found that the Dell Latitude 9420 has the potential to provide a better day-to-day experience. In our tests, the
Dell Latitude 9420 laptop ran longer unplugged; received higher hardware capability and system responsiveness
benchmarks scores; and ran cooler under a resource-intensive load than the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9.
These wins make the Dell Latitude 9420 a sound choice when shopping for your next business laptop.

15. SYSmark 25
Avoiding antivirus software conflicts
SYSmark 25 is not compatible with any virus-scanning software, so we uninstalled any such software present on the laptops before we
installed the benchmark.
Avoiding pre-installed software conflicts
SYSmark 25 installs the following applications, which its test scripts employ:
Productivity
• Adobe®
Acrobat®
Pro DC
• Audacity 2.3.2
• AutoIT 3.3.15.2
• Corel WinZip 24 Enterprise
• Google®
Chrome®
• Microsoft Excel 2019
• Microsoft Outlook 2019
• Microsoft PowerPoint 2019
• Microsoft Word 2019
• Shotcut v19.09.14
Creativity
• Adobe Lightroom®

• Adobe Photoshop®
CC 2019 v13.1.5
Responsiveness
• Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
• Adobe Lightroom Classic CC 2019
• Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019
• Adobe Photoshop CC 2019
• Google Chrome
• Microsoft Excel 2019
• Microsoft Outlook 2019
• Microsoft PowerPoint 2019
• Microsoft Word 2019
If any of these applications already exist on the laptop under test, they could cause problems with the benchmark due to software conflicts.
To avoid any such issues, we uninstalled all conflicting pre-installed software applications—including different versions of any of the programs
SYSmark 25 uses—before we installed the benchmark.
Using the SYSmark built-in configuration tool
This tool supports three levels of configuration:
1. Only makes changes that are REQUIRED for the benchmark to run.

MobileMark 2018 uses—before we installed the benchmark.
Adjusting display brightness and power settings
The brightness of a laptop’s display affects its battery life. Therefore, BAPCo requires that, before you test with MobileMark 2018, you
ensure the brightness of the laptop’s monitor is greater than or equal to 200 nits in the center of a completely white screen while the laptop
is unplugged and running on battery power. The measurement follows the standards from the Video Electronics Standards Association
(www.vesa.org).
Dell Latitude 9420: Finish application-based office tasks faster, enjoy longer battery life, and work with cooler surface temps September 2021 | 8
17. We complied with this standard for all our tests by setting each laptop’s brightness as close to 200 nits as we could without going below that
level. We used the following procedure before we started each test. Note: This procedure assumes we began with the laptop plugged into
the power supply.
1. To create a completely blank, white screen, open Microsoft Paint by clicking StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesPaint.
2. To open the Resize and Skew dialog, press Ctrl+W.
3. Under Horizontal and Vertical, enter 200, and click OK.
4. Click the View tab.
5. To view a white screen, click Full screen.
6. To allow the screen to warm, wait 45 minutes.
7. Unplug the laptop from the power supply, and measure the display’s brightness using a luminance meter in the center of the screen.
(We used a Gossen Mavolux5032C luxmeter.)
8. If the reading is below or significantly greater than 200 nits, adjust the screen brightness to as close to 200 nits as you can without going
under, and retest:
a. Click Windows Start.
b. In the Windows Start search box, type display settings
c. Adjust the slider to change the Display brightness to the correct percentage that produces no less than 200 nits.
9. Allow the laptop to run on battery power for 10 minutes, re-measure the display, and adjust the brightness up or down as necessary.
10. Verify that the laptop saved the brightness setting by plugging in the system, unplugging it, and taking another reading.

20. Measuring surface temperatures of the laptop while running PCMark 10
This test requires the following items:
• FLIR i7 Thermal Imaging Camera
• Fluke NetDAQ 2680A Data Acquisition System
• PCMark 10
Measuring the thermal profile of the laptops as they run a performance benchmark requires two specialized tools: a FLIR®
i7 thermal imaging
camera with FLIR Tools and a Fluke®
NetDAQ®
2680A Data Acquisition System with Type-T thermocouples, which includes both a hardware
device and software that runs on a controller PC.
A thermocouple is a junction between two different metals that produces a voltage related to a temperature difference. We used Type-T
thermocouples, which are suited for measurements in the −200° to 350°C range. We used the FLIR I7 to Identify the hot spot areas to place
the Type T thermocouples.
Data acquisition (DAQ) is the process of sampling signals that measure real-world physical conditions, in this case, temperature. For our
testing, we installed the Fluke DAQ software on a controller PC connected via Ethernet to the NetDAQ device. Five Type T thermocouples
connect to the NetDAQ through a 20-channel input module, and attach to a test point on each laptop under test, and an extra probe
measured the ambient air temperature. Each of these five channels are configured and controlled using the Fluke DAQ software installed on
the controller PC. As each benchmark runs, the NetDAQ logs, in real time, the temperature of each of the five test points. After each run, the
NetDAQ log is exported to Excel.
We reviewed the output from the NetDAQ and learned how much the surface temperature rises above ambient temperature when the
laptop runs performance benchmarks.
Setting up the laptop
1. Place the laptop in a climate-controlled room.
2. In order to determine where to place the type-t thermocouple probes run Cinebench R23 for 1 hour and use the FLIR i7 thermal
imaging camera to identify the monitored locations.
3. Attach a type-t thermocouple to each laptop in the locations that is being monitored.
4. Configure the Fluke NetDAQ 2680A Data Acquisition System to take measurements from the four surface temperature probes and one
ambient temperature probe using the Fluke DAQ software.
5. Connect the five type-t thermocouples to five channels in the Fluke Fast Analog Input module (FAI).
6. In the Fluke DAQ software, click each surface temperature channel, select Thermocouple from the list of Functions, and choose T from
the list of ranges.
7. Label each channel with the laptop associated with each thermocouple.
8. In the Fluke DAQ software, click the ambient temperature channel, select Thermocouple from the list of Functions, and choose T from
the list of ranges.
9. Label this channel Ambient.
10. While running each test, use a Fluke 2680A Data Acquisition System to monitor ambient and surface temperature.
Setting up the test
1. Purchase and download the PCMark 10 benchmark from https://benchmarks.ul.com/pcmark10.
2. Install PCMark 10.
3. Launch PCMark 10.
4. Enter the license key.
