The International Coalition for Freedoms and Rights (ICFR) sent a delegation of lawyers to Egypt from March 11-14, 2014, to assess human rights concerns following the military coup that ousted President Mohamed Morsi. The delegation found widespread human rights abuses, including arbitrary detentions, judicial manipulation, and severe violations against women, all exacerbated by the state of insecurity and economic decline. The report highlights the urgent need for independent investigations into these abuses and for the Egyptian authorities to engage in dialogue to restore democracy and uphold human rights.
