Define Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Define Essay" might seem deceptively simple at first, but the
intricacies and challenges involved become apparent upon closer examination. The task demands
more than just a superficial understanding of the term; it requires a comprehensive exploration of
its various dimensions, historical context, and evolving nature.
To begin with, defining an essay is not a straightforward task, as the concept has evolved over
time and takes on different forms in various academic disciplines. One must delve into the
origins of the word 'essay,' tracing its etymology and understanding how it has transformed from
its early meanings to the contemporary understanding.
Additionally, the challenge lies in balancing the theoretical and practical aspects of the essay.
Exploring the theoretical framework involves understanding the fundamental elements of an
essay, such as the introduction, body, and conclusion, and the role each plays in conveying ideas
coherently. However, it goes beyond structure – the essay form embodies a certain style of
thinking and presenting arguments that require careful consideration.
Moreover, the difficulty intensifies when one attempts to capture the essence of an essay as a
literary genre. The diversity within the essay form, ranging from personal reflections to scholarly
analysis, makes it a challenging task to pinpoint a singular definition. This requires navigating
through the works of influential essayists, understanding their unique contributions, and
recognizing the nuances that distinguish essays from other written forms.
Furthermore, the evolving nature of the essay in the digital age adds another layer of complexity.
With the advent of online platforms, blogs, and multimedia essays, the traditional boundaries of
the essay are continually expanding. One must grapple with the implications of these changes
and how they shape the contemporary understanding of the term.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Define Essay" involves navigating through the
intricate layers of its history, structure, literary aspects, and contemporary adaptations. It is a task
that demands a deep and nuanced exploration to do justice to the richness of the subject matter.

The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co
A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant
), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise
in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be
making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some
shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the
company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a
professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under
the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent
misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the
accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while
Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of
Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought
respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed
have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the
defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the
end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants.
Now I will analyse if those three cases are likely to be happened in this situation. In
relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that it depends on the judges to
decide

INTRO: The phrase do not judge a book by its cover is a widely recognized idea the
majority of people keep in their peripheral mind when introduced with a new idea.
The initial perceptions we make solely on someone s outward appearances are out of
our control, as it is a natural connection our brain makes between presentation and
character. Though we cannot control what we instinctually comprehend, keeping an
open mind is important, especially when meeting someone new.
In the works Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston
Leroux, the physical appearances of our main antagonists, Erik, and The Creature ,

Frankenstein, suffered a similar, uncaring fate. When The Creature first rises from
dormancy, he is promptly turned away by a fearful Frankenstein who locks himself
in his room. (pg. 35 36)
He is shamed into living in solitude, fearful that he will be ostracized if he attempts
to set foot on the surface. Over the years of tormenting those who reside in the Opera
house, he earns the reputation of opera ghost due to his unseen and spectral nature. It
is shown in numerous occasions that even referring to him as opera ghost is
somewhat taboo. (p.14)
As a result of their unfortunate upbringing, Erik and the Creature grow to resent
humanity for its poor treatment of them. In the Creatures case, a couple specific
instances stand out which fuel his desire for revenge. When he reveals himself to the
De Lacey family, he is attacked and forced to flee for his own safety as well as
theirs. He soon returns, only to find the cottage empty. He proceeds to burn it down
out of hurt and rage. This is a good example of his explosive nature, and how he is
compelled to act on his emotions rather than use logic.
For the first time feelings of revenge and hatred filled my bosom... I bent my mind
towards injury and death. The Creature, Frankenstein pg.
The Concentration Of The Wastewater
where M1 is the molarity (concentration) of the wastewater, V1 is the amount of
titrant used to reach a neutral pH, M2 is the concentration of the titrant used, and V2
is the total amount of titrant used as calculated in Figure 1. As Table 8 shows, the
calculations were consistent with the qualitative analysis of concentration formerly
explained. For example, the olive oil had the most concentrated wastewater at 10.25
M while detergent I and vegetable oil had the least concentrated waste water at 2.5
M and 3.6 M, respectively.
Just like all the other results, these titration analyses could be due to the improper
formation of soap due to a lack of heating again, as previously explained. Then, there
was detergent II which started with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A 1M concentration of each was used in the titrations when a 6 M concentration
should have been used. As a result, this caused the calculated concentrations of the
wastewater to be higher than they otherwise would be.
Looking at Figures 2 7, the titration graphs have an interesting curve. The change in
pH appears to start slow, then almost instantaneously changes to the neutralized
pH. For example, in Figure 2, the olive oil wastewater starts with a very basic pH.
As hydrochloric acid is added, the graph appears to slowly move down the Y axis,
meaning the pH is decreasing as well. Suddenly, around the time when about 0.33
units of hydrochloric acid had been added, the graph drops steeply to the acidic pH
values and plateaus at the acidic pH of about 1.4. The vegetable oil waste water s
titration curve in Figure 3, the crisco waste water s titration curve in figure 4, the
lard waste water s titration curve in figure 5, and the detergent I waste water s
titration curve in figure 6 all display the same described pattern as olive oil waste
water s titration curve. In figure 7, the detergent II waste water s curve follows the
same general pattern but is reversed. The graph starts at an acidic pH since the
detergent II s waste water was acidic. Then, it increases slowly at first and
exponentially increases in pH with the graph showing a steep curve and eventually
leveling out to a basic pH of about 12. The

1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving?
Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th
Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th
2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the
consonants and why?
I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are
mostly found in higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being
found on the lower decibel range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to
perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s
speech abilities and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities,
based on what you know about them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either
struggle or excel with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack
of support in the home. This is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing
aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie,
can struggle even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is
because a child with mild to moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks
proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of the time. In Julie s case it
is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the

The phrase problem solver has the definition in the phrase. A problem solver

acknowledgement to issues in their life can expose their true inner persona. In the
books In The Time of The Butterflies and Macbeth there are many problems that the
characters face. But these are problems that we can all relate to in real life. When
faced with news in life people can act camly and keep their emotions in control.
Macbeth was given three prophecies by the witches, one being who he was, second

Sinita was a shy girl who Minerva became friends with right away. However Sinita
had a secret. Her family was a part of a group trying to fight back against Trujillo.
No one else besides Minerva and their other friend Elsa knew. Trujillo found out
about her family trying to fight back and he killed her uncles, her father and her
brother. So Sinita had some built up resentment against Trujillo that she could not
let out. Trujillo visits the school and a girl named Lina found special interest with
him. And so he begins to perform and do wonderful things to make Lina fall in
love with him. And no one can see past these nice gestures besides Sinita. If I were
Lina she began, and her right hand reached out as if grabbing a bunch of grapes
and squeezing the juice out of them (Alvarez 22 23). Squeezing grapes is not the
most violent way to show anger. But it s the action that was taken. Whenever
Sinita thinks about Trujillo she can not help but think about how he has destroyed
her family. So Sinita starts to share, and Minerva, Elsa and her begin to visit Don
Horacio. And talking illegally about starting the revolution. To take down the

reign. And he has had enough and is no longer being the nice guy. He is acting
now only on his emotional thoughts and ignoring his logical response. The very
firstlings of my heart shall be / The firstlings of my hand (4.1.167 168). Macbeth
says these lines right before he commands the cruel and unnecessary murder of the
Macduff family. Macbeth now begins to reign with an iron fist and Scotland as a
country begins to die while under his throne. For Macbeth to act no longer thinking
and react to things by murdering people is showing a lot of strong emotions that are
not being put to their best use. Pretty soon Macbeth might make a decision he may

Birth Control Method
The final method of birth control to discuss is the morning after pill, also known
as emergency contraception or Plan B. The pill is taken orally after unprotected
sex has already occurred. The pill can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex.
The pill is available both over the counter or with a prescription. The pill stops the
ovary from releasing an egg and being fertilized by the sperm. However, this method
has many disadvantages. The morning after pill is only 89 percent effective at
preventing pregnancyand it becomes less effective over time. It can also be very
expensive, and it does not work if ovulation has already begun. The pill can also cause
nausea, cramping, and vomiting due to its high concentration of estrogen and
progesterone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these methods is breastfeeding. Breastfeeding as birth control, also known as
lactation amenorrhea method (LAM), only works for women who have recently
given birth and are currently breastfeeding. This method can last up to six months
after giving birth and is free, safe, and natural. While women are breastfeeding,
their bodies neglect to release the hormone that releases an egg from the ovary, and
if there is no egg to fertilize, pregnancy cannot occur. This method is very effective,
with less than 1 out of 100 women becoming pregnant if they are breastfeeding for
at least 4 hours out the day. This method also has no abnormal side effects and does
not require any prescriptions or visits to a doctor. (Birth Control Methods)
Apart from the many methods of birth control methods, there is also a certain amount
of controversy that surrounds the topic. The controversy tends to center around
Planned Parenthood and the use of emergency contraceptives. There are many
individuals and even some corporations that oppose birth control for religious
reasons, stating that the use interferes with God s Plan.
Apparel Industry
Introduction International trade is a crucial component of the apparel industry. For
this assignment, I have gathered data spanning from 2005 to 2015 to analyze
importing and exporting between the United States and Thailand. By using the two
databases OTEXA and UN Comtrade database, I was able to identify trends in
terms of both units and US dollars. Otexa Overall, the United States consistently
imports more textiles than apparel from Thailand and the amount has considerably
decreased over the 10 year span. In terms of Textiles, 1,051,815,014 units were
imported from Thailand in 2005, which was the most in all 10 years. It continued to
decrease slightly each year, but rose again in 2010 when 808,673,679 units were
imported. For 2011 and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Obstacles Of Christian Growth
According to the 2011 India census there are approximately 28 million Christians
(Knapp). This number equates to about 80% of the total population of Canada. To
some this would seem that Christianity is flourishing in India. However, the total
population of India is 1.25 billion; Christianity only makes up approximately 2.2 per
cent of the entire population, while Hinduismmakes up 79.8 per cent and Islam 14.2
per cent. Further, since 1951, there has not been a significant increase in the rate of
Christians when compared with the total Indian population as it has hovered around
2.3 per cent (Knapp). It is worth noting however that since 1951 the total Christian
population in Indiahas grown from around 8 million people to the 28 million it is
today (Knapp). It has since been over two thousand years since Christianity was first
introduced to India by Thomas, the apostle; it can be argued that Christianity has had
a difficult time flourishing as it is a very distant third as the religionof choice in India.
This paper will discuss some of the obstacles that have challenged the growth of
Christianity in India. These obstacles include; the historically entrenched caste
system of India, the strong belief in the secular state and the persecution of
Christianity. Although, these obstacles are formidable and may never be totally
overcome, Christianity can still grow and be a mainstay in Indian society. However,
more than likely it may not be able to usurp the power that Hinduism and

Short Summary Of The Pigman By Paul Zindel
The Pigman, by Paul Zindel, starts with two sophomores at Franklin High School,
Lorraine, and John, who are typing about an awful experience they had with a guy
named Mr. Pignati. They met Mr. Pignati by making a prank phone call and
prevaricated, saying they were charity workers for the L J Fund. Mr. Pignati, a
cheerful, lonely fellow waiting for friends to talk to graciously told Lorraine and
John that he would donate ten dollars if they could go pick it up at his house. The
children agreed and went over to the Pignati household after school. When John
and Lorraine got to his house, they discovered Mr. Pignati was an older man with a
cheerful personality and an infantile smile. After talking with Mr. Pignati for a
while, Lorraine noticed that he seemed lonely. Mr. Pignati invited John and
Lorraine to go with him to enjoy his avocation of going to the zoo, and while John
did not want to, Lorraine felt bad for Mr. Pignati and told him they would go. When
they got to the zoo, Lorraine started to feel uncomfortable and anxious with the
animals and people there while John and Mr. Pignati had a great time looking at the
reptiles and nocturnal creatures. During the day at the zoo, Lorraine was conscious

The Theme of Decadence in the Picture of Dorian Grey by...
The theme of decadence in The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde Staring
from the definition found in the dictionary, the decadence is a literary movement
especially of late 19th century France and England characterized by refined
aestheticism, artifice, and the quest for new sensations. [1] In decadence, important
is not necessarily what is seen, but the hermeneutics: what man feels when he sees
the creative result of this feeling. It is the current that requires a co operation from
the public to the artistic work for the purposes of re creation. The image proposed by
the decadents is a violent one, an image that shocks by having a fascinating and

His conception is hedeonistic. If Basil is the art creator, the picture s creator, Lord
Henry is the creator of Dorian s new aspect. The experience of the sin is finished by
killing his friend, Basil Hallward. His act does not stirs remorse, his only concern
being to erase the traces in order to avoid getting discovered. His diabolism can be
compared to the one of Des Esseintes , which attempts to transform a young man,
Auguste Langlois, into an assassin, through vice, but the difference is that the
Huysmans s character has not the power to commit a murder himself. The murder is
followed by the destruction of the portrait. A strong element related to the decadent
movement is the dandyism, the social phenomenon, meaning a man who places
particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely
hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self.[5] A first
determination of dandyism is shown when old Lord Fermor says to his nephew
Henry Wotton Well, Harry, what brings you out so early? I thought you dandies
never got up till two, and were not visible till five. [6] Lord Henry Wotton is fully a

African American Male Self Esteem Essay
African American men s experiences of racism are believed to contribute to low
self esteem (Utsey, Ponterotto, Reynolds, Cancelli, 2000). Yet researchers have
found evidence that suggests African Americans explicit self esteem is equal to that
of members of non stigmatized groups (Crocker Major, 1989). In contrast to
explicit self esteem, implicit self esteem is a spontaneous, automatic, and
unconscious evaluation of one s own worth (Baccus, Baldwin, Packer, 2004). In
addition, it is thought that social behavior operates in an unconscious manner
(Baccus et al., 2004). As a result, the question of whether it is mainly implicit self
esteem that influences social behavior has been raised and researched (Bosson,
Brown, Zeigler Hill, Swann, 2003). However, the role of implicit self esteem as an
influence of social behavior for African Americanmen is lacking a significant amount
of empirical research.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, some of these coping strategies have been found to be maladaptive (Utsey
et al., 2000). Maladaptive behaviors are actions or tendencies that hinder an
individual from adjusting to situations (Weiss, 1999). Maladaptive behavior can
range from minor to severe behaviors that are tolerable and safe to behaviors that are
disruptive, dysfunctional and harmful to the individual (Weiss, 1999). Additionally,
maladaptive behaviors are formed as a way of coping with emotional and mental
discomfort as well as anxiety, but the actions typically result in a compounding of the
problem. Examples of maladaptive behavior include substance abuse, attention
seeking behavior, perfectionism, materialism, and sex addiction (Weiss, 1999; Rice

Benefits and Challenges of E procurement
Introduction
This research study identifies the benefits and challenges to the implementation of E
procurement in the organizations. E procurement is the process of purchasing the
goods or services from various suppliers through the internet. This helps to provides
number of benefits over older manual procurement method by eliminating several
errors. These benefits include reduction of administrative cost, faster transfer of
information, improve communication, and decrease in inventory cost (Matunga,
Nyanamba, Okibo, 2013). In corporate sector, the procurement has been divided into
two section i.e. direct and indirect procurement. Direct procurement involves the
materials that are used in the production of manufactured goods, whereas indirect
procurement deals with the involvement of day to day operations. E procurement
mainly provides more concentration on indirect procurement in contrast to direct
procurement (Kim Shunk, 2004).
E procurement help to provides various benefits, but still the implementation is in
development stage. Since not every business model or e procurement system are
equally stable for supporting different business processes, so companies are

The M M Campaign Essay
Brand campaigns is generally regarded as application of specific activities created
to promote a product. Companies typically employ it when they want to increase
their sales. Use of one or an integrated media techniques may come into effects, for
instance, use of television, print and social media. The point is to capture the target
audience s attention as well as generate response from them. This is exactly what M
M managed to do with its Better with M campaign where they used unique
advertising and marketingapproaches that had emotional and psychological effect on
the target market. The M M campaign use of personification and personalization was
a brilliant move that cemented the company as leaders in candy and chocolate
manufacturing. Several slogans and ads run through people s TV screen during the
whole campaign period, and the fascinating aspect is that the were really engaging
and funny. The campaign featured super bowl commercial, digital ads, in store
displays, and perhaps the most critical cause related marketing.
This is analysis of the Better with M campaign. This paper explores how M M
devised and implemented successful advertising campaign through message strategy,
persuasive focus, persuasive appeal and correct execution. This will be done by
reviewing literature on marketing and advertising concepts. I will also look at the
cost used to implement this strategy and whether it was channelled in the right way.
Finally, the paper will examine the outcome of
Inhuman Enhanced Interrogation Techniques
Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, were used in previous administrations. The
techniques were considered at the very least to be cruel and inhuman. Among these
are attention strikes and stress positions. The techniques violate human rights as well
as detainee rights. There are few serious arguments for the retention of enhanced
interrogation. The most compelling is the ticking time bomb theory. This theory is in
fact based on logical fallacy. An executive order has banned the use of enhanced
interrogation. It is the position of this summary that the current ban remain in effect.

These strikes, more than just inhuman can be dangerous. They can lead to head
trauma and internal damage. Stress positions are meant to break the will of the
detainee. In Forced Standing detainees are shackled in a standing position. In a 1956
CIA report on soviet interrogation, Harold Wolfe and Lawrence Hinkle noted that
after as little as 18 hours edema occurs causing swelling of the ankles to at least twice
the normal size. The swelling continues up to the mid thigh. This causes circulatory
failure and eventually renal failure. The 2 experts when evaluating the treatment
called it physical torture (Wolfe 1956). While outside lasting marks may not be
present the internal damage can be devastating Palestinian Hanging is a more severe
form of stress position, capable of damaging the shoulder joints, ligaments, nerves
and tendons. In this position, the bound hands are placed behind the detainee while
they are elevated until the body weight is supported primarily or entirely by the hyper
extended shoulder joint. In conjunction with broken ribs, the CIA found that
palestinian hanging caused the asphyxiation death of Manadel al Jamadi, who was a
detainee at the now infamous Abu Ghraib Prison (McChesney 2005). A major reason
that Enhanced Interrogation Techniques are not seen as beneficial to society is the fact
that all people have human rights that protect them from torture. Human rights are in
place in order to set an outline of how
The Importance Of The Sea Otters
Human activities have decreased the population of the Sea Otters, and negatively
impacted the trophic levels of the ecological pyramid they belong in. Primarily after
the industrial revolution, humans have constantly overexploited the environment,
resulting in the gradual loss of biodiversity. Among these struggling organisms are
the sea otters, an essential support for trophic levels including the sea urchins, kelp
forests, and others. Without otters, dependent marine animals in different trophic
levels will be heavily influenced and suffer as well. If precautions are not taken to
ensure proper conservation and sustainability, there will be consequences beyond
just losing an adorable animal. Nearly hunted to extinction by fur traders in the
1700s and 1800s, sea otters gained protection with the imposed signing of the
International Fur Seal Treaty of 1911, and became listed under the Marine Mammal
Protection and Endangered Species Acts in the 1970s ( Threats to Sea Otters,
2016).Though they have gradually recovered since then, their numbers have not yet
returned to their original population due to the recent increase in pollution. Oil spills
have killed thousands of sea otters by liver and kidney damage due to its toxicity, as
well as hypothermia from matting their warm insulating fur coats. Not to mention,
their food sources, such as fish, also drastically decreased because of these poisonous
spills. With countries shipping oil along the Pacific ocean, accidents are
Hitler Individual Rights
Society relies on structure and order; the basic foundation of a fair society is made
up of the individual rights and group rights which maintain the peace of a democratic
society. Individualism refers to the rights upheld by the individual; the right to
participate in political discourse, the right to personal expression, and the right to life.
The idea of collective rightsappertain to the democratic system which most nations
adhere by; laws are made by members of the government which are to be followed
by the members of society. These laws, which are created in the views of the
majority, are the rights granted to a group of people. Individual rights should be
paramount to collective rights to ensure the safety of minorities. Individual... Show

The concept of individualism is an asset to mankind; it allows for a more
acceptable society where people can express themselves without being scrutinized
by the law. Our civil liberties protect us against the law and ensure that the past
instances of government oppression will not occur again. Individual rights act as
a restriction that limit government control over society. Michel de Montaigne
believes that, The greatest thing on earth is to know how to belong to oneself.
Everyone looks in front of them. But I look inside myself. I have no concerns but
my own. I constantly reflect on myself; I control myself; I taste myself. We owe
some things to society, but the greater part of ourselves. (The Huffington Post).
Being able to enjoy a sense of self without backlash is a gift that encourages the
exploration of culture and allows people to think freely, personally and politically.
To be given the power to showcase our ideas through freedom of speech is what
separates democracy from dictatorship. Ayn Rand agrees that, There can be no
compromise between freedom and government controls; to accept just a few controls
is to surrender the principle of inalienable individual rights and to substitute for it the
principle of the government s unlimited, arbitrary power, thus delivering oneself into
gradual enslavement (Rand 64). The idea of

ARTICLES IN LIBRARY: AN OVERVIEW
Abstract:In this digital library environment, the traditional library system and services
are being replaced by new techniques such as library automation, collection
development of e resources and networking of libraries. There has been tremendous
change in the information world. Everyone has to adopt these changes such as
printed to digital form. A perpetuation is a set of procedures, activities and preserves
all the documents long term, preserving their content. This paper provides an
overview of the major perpetuation activities, definition, concept, process and types
of media for perpetuation. This paper also presents the perpetuation standards of
library materials.
Keywords: Perpetuation, Maintenance, Digital format, perpetuation standards.
Introduction:
The library houses the document by considering the long term perpetuation of the
items while still allowing the end user to access the material easily. But all library
collections experience damage from use and decay from aging. So there is a need of
perpetuation and maintenance of library materials. Libraries have always been places
where information resources were collected, organized and perpetuated for the use of
future generations. However, application of computers has drastically changed the
work culture of libraries. Now in the changing environment, the volume of
information rapidly increasing and users
Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit
It goes without saying that since Jeanette Winterson s novel Oranges Are Not the
Only Fruit (1985) many things have changed in the acceptance and tolerance of
LGBTQ people. With this, contemporary literature seems to slowly catch up and
represent these fictional couples in a more modern way. An author that has taken
this growing tolerance towards queer people in account, is Irish Canadian novelist
Emma Donoghue. Donoghue, born in 1969 in Dublin, Ireland, knew she wanted to
be a writer when she was 14 years old, which was also when she discovered her
preference for women (Donoghue, 1). She first started writing poetry, as she says
that in poetry she did not have to be specific about gender, this however changed once
she started writing fiction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Colonial Women In Colonial America
Colonial women in America suffered considerable oppression by society. Life in
colonial America was difficult. Women had to be resilient, brave, hardworking and
above all else, subservient to her husband. It was tradition and the law. Most certainly,
this tradition was the reason some women captured by Native Indians, chose to stay
within Native societies. Or when returned to their homes, chose return to them.
Society believed women inferior to men. They were considered property of their
fathers until marriage and once married, all her personal possessions became her
husband. Women often married young to men significantly older then themselves and
bore children very soon after marriage. Carol Berkin explains in her book First

Influence of French Food on the Food Service Industry
The Influence of French Food on the Food Service Industry In the globalized world
in which we live today, food is seemingly available from all corners of the world at
one s request. One can therefore experience everything from Spanish to Russian to
Ethiopian cuisines in a matter of hours, especially in metropolitan cities such as
New York, Paris, or Sao Paolo. Yet there are some cuisines that have reigned
supreme in the world of dining, and that take the prize for being the most complex,
sought after, delicious cuisines ever experienced. French cuisine, one would hope,
would be at the forefront of such fantastic experiences. With its delicacies, from
escargots to foie gras, French cuisine has impacted many thousands of taste buds
across the globe for many centuries. This paper will thus discuss the influence that
French foodhas had upon the food service industry in the United States, in a quick
attempt to understand and examine just how sought after French cuisine still is.
One of the most obvious influences of French cuisines in America can be felt in
New Orleans. This city was established in the 18th century by Ursuline nuns, under
the orders of Louis XV of France. Ever since, New Orleans has been central to how
one experiences French food in the United States, as well as how one sees the mix
of French and American cuisines to produce something truly unique. Yet this kind of
French food, or Creole food, as this would be called, is only one facet of the array of

How Did Abraham Lincoln A Civil War
Thomas Lincoln s father had made his way to Kentucky a dangerous and lenghty
jorney through the Cumberland Gap. The Lincoln family decided to settle in
Kentucky. When Thomas was a teenager his father was killed by Indians, leaving
him encharge of the Lincoln household. He married a beautiful woman by the
name of Nancy, and they raised a beautiful family of three children, one by the
name of Abraham. Abraham was an honest and trustworthy boy and was loved by
his family. They moved to Indiana, and when Abe was nine, soon after arriving,
Nancy Lincoln passed away, leaving Thomas with three young children. Thomas
later went on to go back to Kentucky and remarry a woman by the name of Sarah
who became the mother figure in the Lincoln s life. In the book it was made very
clear that she thought a lot of Abe and believed that he should go into politics

Lincoln s stance on slavery was highly controversial. Many people loved and hated
him for it. Stephen Douglas also ran for the election but Lincoln had built his
popularity through out the north and won the election by electoral votes. This lead to
the succession of the South. Though Lincoln was a good man a civil war could not
be avoided. The book talks about how it seperated our contry and Lincoln knew it. In
his inagural speech Lincoln aimed to sooth the south from the termoil. This
unfortunatly didn t happen and Fort Sumter surrendered to the Confederate s.
One Man Great Enough was the real story of how Abraham Lincoln became

that never told a lie. On his jorney through life he had many struggles but he never
gave up. John C. Waugh the author of the book has helped me understand that

Labor costs
Labor costs in the United States are much higher than in many parts of the world.
Consequently, the costs of production for labor intensive manufacturing can be
significantly reduced by moving factories overseas mainly to third world countries
this is a common practice of Nike who outsource there manufacturing to other
companies in countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.[ ]
2. Cost of Shipping
The cost of shipping goods has dropped in recent years. Part of this reduction is the
result of improved efficiencies in shipping technologies. Also, tariffs on imports have
dropped with the North American Free Trade Agreement and other international
efforts to promote free trade this will make it easier for companies and corporations
such as Nike to outsource the manufacture of their goods. [4]
3. Free Trade as a Political Tool
Outsourcing manufacturing jobs overseas has the additional benefit of promoting
capitalism and free enterprise in many countries that have been run by communism
and totalitarianism governments. Many political scientists and economists believe
that by increasing economic interdependence with the United States, these foreign
nations are more likely to develop into robust democracies and more likely to
establish a middle class of their own this fact can be used by corporations such as
Nike to justify outsourcing to these countries. [4]

Gestapo s Cruelty and Role Played in the Holocaust
The roles of the SS,SA and the Gestapo are going to be revealed . These positions are
all played in the Holocaust from 1929 to 1945. There was a very high role of cruelty
and death taking in all three positions. Each played a role as for taking either a Jew
s life or anyone else that was considered undesirable. There will be over a million
deaths just of these three positions because of the role played for the Nazi Party in
Germany between that period of time involving World War 2. I
The first topic is the Schutzstaffel, which is the SS. The SS was founded in April of
1925 by Adolf Hitler. The SS was discovered as a group of personal bodyguards for
Hitler. The small group of the SS went from being only 300 members in 1925, to
about 50,000 in 1933, because of Heinrich Himmler. Heinrich Himmler commanded
the SS in 1929, to 1945 when its disintegration occurred. Between about 1934 to
1936, the SS expanded their responsibilities and gained control of Germany s
police forces. Since the SS gained more responsibilities they divided into two sub
units called the Allgemeine SS (General SS) and the Waffen (Armed SS). Both of
the subunits combined were about 250,000 member by 1939. One of the roles, or
something they dealt with (general SS) was the local police, and with racial matters ,
and also with foreign espionage and counterintelligence. General SS s main program
was Reichssicherheitshauptamt ( RSHA, Reich Security Central Office in German).

The Breakfast Of Champions By Ray Bradbury
Since the last time I wrote a journal, I had just finished Joseph Heller s Catch 22.
Now, I started and finished Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 and also started Kurt
Vonnegut s Breakfast of Champions. There are still sixty six pages remaining in
the novel. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag living in a future in
which books are outlawed. Guy is a fireman whose job it is to burn all remaining
books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living
outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to
do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is
told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science
fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore
Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in
America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made
his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and
fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone
around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In
Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy
resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions,
the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. There once was a
time when reading was legal.
Should Dental Implants Be Allowed
While dental implants offer a great treatment solution for replacing missing teeth, the
procedure isn t ideal for everyone. Keep reading to find out what to expect during the
examination process.
1. Determine Candidacy
The first thing an endodontist will do is determine whether or not dental implants are
right for you. To do this, the practitioner will have to review your medical history, as
well as conduct a thorough oral examination. This examination will cover areas such
as your teeth, gums, and jaws.
Once you ve been approved as a suitable candidate for dental implants, you ll
receive a breakdown of what the procedure entails, as well as steps you must take to
make it a success. And if it is determined that implants are not right for ... Show more

This process gives the dentist a clearer picture of the inside of your mouth. It shows
how dense the jaw bones are and help them determine if the bone structure available
will be able to support the dental implant procedure. A patient with less than
considerable bone volume may require a bone graft. Without it, the dental implant
will not yield the desirable results.
Furthermore, the endodontist goes deeper to see if there are other areas in your
mouth that require immediate attention as well. The x rays also help the dentist
determine the exact placement where the implants should be positioned.
The x ray examination is a popular choice among endodontists, and for good reason.
This is because it helps them get a more detailed picture of the patient s oral health
overall.
3. Periodontal Exam
Another thing to expect during the dental implant examination is a periodontal check.
This is done to determine the condition of your gums. It is not advisable to perform a
dental implant procedure if a patient has gum disease. First, the endodontist will have
to develop a treatment plan for the gum disease. After restoring the gums health, then
the dental implants can be
The World Of Computer Systems
INTRODUCTION TO PROBLEM
Today s world of computer systems are used by large set of individuals across
organisations either collocated or distributed geographically. This has decreased
the level of trust as compared to the past where there were small set of users
entrusted in an organisation (Van der Geest G J, 2008) . In a bid to make sensitive
data and infrastructure secured from unauthorized users, a security policy is
developed by the system administrator of the organisation in other to control who

Access control is a process of monitoring information flow from unauthorized users
with the aid of some rules and methods and has been in practice for a long period of
time. Access control is a system that enforces demand or request to system data and
resources through the means of authorization. This policy has been a major issue in
resource management since early 1960s ref. with main objectives of protecting
system resources from unauthorized users. In this report, some of the types of access
control models and the security threats they impose will be discussed below.
Discretionary Access Control (DAC) model is a user based kind of policy due to
its principle allowing any user to alter any information and user s data in the
system based on their needs. DAC allows users to use their discretion to access
files or programs in the system without following any predetermined policies. This
makes the system vulnerable to Trojan horse attacks and other form of viruses
which can lead to leakage of data and loss of information (Vincent C. Hu, 2006).
This approach of access control is not a reliable one for an administrator keen to
secure sensitive information. In the aspect of network outside the perimeter and
mobile collaboration in distributed environments, this model poses a lot of damage in

The Biography Of Wi Fi Signals

discussing 6 of them and evaluating which is the top pioneer . Firstly, Augusta Ada
King Noel, known as the Countess of Lovelace was an English Mathematician and
writer during the 19th century. Born in London on the 10th December 1815, she
was the only true child of the poet Lord Byron and Anne Isabella Milbanke (his
wife) as all of his other children were born to other women who were not married
to Byron. Lord Byron left England shortly after Ada s birth and eventually died in
the Greek war of Independence 8 years later. Due to her late husband s actions Ada
s mother decided to promote mathematics and writing to Ada to help prevent her
getting the insanity Anne believed Lord Byron had suffered from. Later, in 1835
Ada married William King, who three years later became Earl of Lovelace, giving
Ada her title of Countess of Lovelace . After furthering her education with scientists
such as: Andrew Crosse and Sir David Brewster, as well as author Charles Dickens
to become an Analyst, she met fellow British mathematician Charles Babbage
through her private tutor. They developed an ongoing friendship and working
relationship while famously working together on Babbage s work on the Analytical

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Cushing s Syndrome
Abstract Cushing s syndrome is an endocrine disorder resulting from excess levels of
cortisol in the blood. The etiology can be exogenous or endogenous, which can be
further broken down into adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) dependent and
independent. The pathogenesis of Cushing s syndrome depends on the cause, and
generally results in the disruption of the normal functioning of the hypothalamic
pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Cushing s syndrome is characterized by a variety of
signs and symptoms, and treatment varies depending on the etiology. Currently
research is being conducted on diagnostic tests for this disorder.

Endogenous Cushing s syndrome results when the high levels of cortisol originate
from within the body. The most common causes of endogenous Cushing s syndrome
are adrenal, pituitary or ectopic tumours. These tumours lead to a disruption of the
normal functioning of the HPA axis. Exogenous Cushing s syndrome results when
the high levels of cortisol in the blood is a direct result of some factor outside of the
body, such as the administration of therapeutic steroids (Bronstein 2011). The
endogenous component of Cushing s syndrome can be further broken down into
ACTH dependent and ACTH independent. ACTH dependent causes account for the
majority of cases (80%) (Bronstein 2011). Pituitary adenomas account for 80% of
ACTH dependent causes, with the remaining 20% resulting from ectopic tumours.
These ectopic tumours are generally small cell carcinomas of the lungs, but may
also result from endocrine tumours on a variety of organs (Newell Price et al. 2006).
ACTH independent causes typically result from various tumours on the adrenal
glands, resulting in the direct secretion of cortisol into the blood. In extremely rare
cases, ACTH independent Cushing s syndrome can be caused by corticotropin
independent macronodular adrenal disease and McCune Albright syndrome (Newell
Price et al. 2006).
Pathogenesis
Once a diagnosis of Cushing s syndrome is confirmed, the cause of this syndrome
must be determined. Each subsequent cause has
How Does Atticus Play In Oedipus s Law
Leviticus
The book of Leviticus is mainly focus on the law. In the book of Leviticus it
discuss about God s Covenant, Guidelines for Priesthood, the Sacrificial System,
and a Time to Celebrate. Appearing before Moses, God gave direction and
information on how the Israelites are to offer sacrifices to the Lord and why to do
so. He gave other laws in regards to cleanliness, staying clean, and what to keep
away from. Laws on how to stay moral and have good ethics were also given.
Instead of the practices they had used in the past, God gave them laws to show
how they should be living. The Lord gave guidance on feasts and celebrations to
show their thankfulness to him. Finally, God told the people that they would
experience curses or blessings all based on if they follow the covenant with God.
The dominant theme of Leviticus is the holiness of God. It also shows that God s
law is what we should follow and there are many instances in Leviticus where the
Lord followed through with his promises, all based on his covenant. The whole
purpose was for you to obey and to avoid being punished. If you did obey you would
receive a blessing.

Essay on Comparison of Jackson s Short Story The Lottery...
Almost every person in the world holds a set of traditions which have been
established and practiced for a long period of time. However, some traditions often
cause us to not see the rationality despite of the destructive nature it may have. In
Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery , a sacrifice of one s life becomes the
jackpot of an annual event held in a small town. This society s traditions have caused
the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they
have become so stuck in their own cultural beliefs.
In the short story, The Lottery , Jackson s use of symbols reveals a twisting plot that
isn t recognizable until nearly at the end of the story. Her use of third person point of
view is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here in this village, the lottery only takes about two hours with the 300 residents that
currently live there. In some towns, the lottery takes nearly two days and must be
started on the 26th. Jackson writes it could begin at ten o clock in the morning and
still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner (156). This
states that they want to get this completed so they can return home with their families
and have a family lunch. Relaying no emotion to the fact that death is the outcome of
this whole ordeal.
In the film The Lottery the setting is more modern and appears to be in the 1960 s
even. You are able to identify this due to the articles of clothing they possess, the
way the towns people do their hair and make up in some sort. Another clue is the
shops out front of the town square, compared to the short story; it was led to
believe as if none of that had come into place at the time. Also the area seems to be
more industrialized than a rural town would be i.e. automobiles. It is never clear as
to what day it may be until the characters give dialogue of the other towns having to
start the lottery a day ahead June 27th. The town s people seem to have much more
concern and empathy in the film rather than the short story because of the emphasis
they put on the characters faces and their dialogue. Mrs. Hutchinson when called out
as the winner of
The Mother and Daughter Relationships in Amy Tan s The
Joy...
Mother and Daughter Struggle in The Joy Luck Club
The Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, illustrates what life is like for many foreigners in
America who are trying to give their child the opportunities they most likely did not
have themselves as children. The story touches on a very common struggle in
America, that between mother and daughter, in which the daughter never feels good
enough for her mother. Also present is the struggle Jing Mei has with herself.
Jing Mei s mother has her mind set on making her daughter a prodigy of some
kind. She constantly presses Jing Mei to do better and be better at whatever activity
she participates, but why is she doing this? There are a couple of reasons, one of
which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Jing Mei is American and has grown up with all of the opportunities of
Americans, the mother expects more of her, and she thinks the daughter should
expect more from herself.
Judging by the dialogue between Jing Mei and her mother, the reader gets a sense
that Jing Mei does not understand the importance of her success, not just to her
mother, but to herself as well. I m not a genius! (Tan 493) Jing Mei cried. To which
her mother replied Who ask you to be genius? Only ask you be your best for you
sake. You think I want you to be genius? (Tan 494). Jing Mei did not understand why
her mother wanted her to be a prodigy. If there were times she did, she just didn t
care. This leads us to the struggle between mother and daughter.
Nearly every mother and daughter in America has had some kind of struggle
where the mother wants one thing, but the daughter wants another. There s
nothing different in Two Kinds . At first when Jing Mei s mother comes up with a
plan to make her a prodigy, Jing Mei is excited and enjoys the attention her mother
bestows upon her. Later on, she is not so happy, and she wishes her mother would
just leave her alone to be her mediocre self. The reader gets this idea when she says,
. . . in the beginning I was just as excited as my mother, maybe even more so. (Tan
491). Everything began to change when Jing Mei failed, yet again, in her attempt at
becoming a prodigy and,
The Importance Of Parallel Parking
You may think that since parallel parking is difficult to learn, you ll just avoid
having to park anywhere that you need to know how to do it. That may be fine
once you get your driver s license, but to get that license, part of your test is going to
involve parallel parking. Here are four steps to practice that will help you relax and
easily pass that part of your drivingexam.
Signal and Check Mirrors
First and foremost, never forget to turn on your turn signal before you attempt to
parallel park. You should turn your signal on as you begin to slow down when you
find the spot you want to occupy.
Constantly check your mirrors to see what is behind and beside you. Don t forget to
glance at your blind spot. Leave your signal on throughout
My View Of Success And The American Dream
America is truly the land of opportunity. My maternal grandfather was a first
generation immigrant from the Philippines. He came to this country with nothing,
but a dream to succeed. He saw the only way to succeed was through a solid
education. His view of success was to get a good paying job. In a similar manner
my paternal grandfather was essentially orphaned when he was six years old. The
only hope he saw to escape his microcosm was through an education. He gained his
success through the American Dream. In total, both of my grandfathers achieved
the american dream, even though they had a differing view of success they both
acknowledged the necessary means to transition from failure to success, and this
was an education. I have been influenced greatly by my two grandfathers. My view
of success and the American Dream is a certain Melting Pot of my two
grandfathers. I view success as the combination of a good career as well as a great
family. I see the transition from childhood to adulthood as the point where one is
able to effectively take charge of their future and their own success in an effective
way with the approval of others to change the course of their life. Personally, I feel
as though I crossed the transition from childhood to adulthood towards the end of my
Junior year of high school in more ways than one. To begin, It was around this time
that I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three defining events my birthday, my election, and the pursuit of a vocation all
contributed to my transition from childhood to adulthood. Looking back at my
grandfather s paths to success I cannot deny the essential aspect that college
provides in the road to a successful life. With this in mind I know that college is an
essential stepping stone and I feel your college best suits my needs and

Space Weather in Interplanetary Space
Solar flares, Coronal mass ejections, high speed solar wind, and solar energetic
particles, all driven by the solar magnetic field (Solar).
Solar flares produce X Rays for a few minutes or hours and produce more radiation
that the total amount of light in infrared or visible light. Not likely for planets near
flare stars to have life (102 book). Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation coming
from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots. They release photons at
almost every wavelength in the electromagnetic spectrum (Solar). The Earth is only
affected by solar flares when they occur on the side of the sun facing Earth because

The outer solar atmosphere, the corona, is created by magnetic fields. When the
fields close, the confined solar atmosphere can suddenly violently release bubbles
of gas and magnetic fields. A coronal mass ejection can contain a billion tons of
matter that can move at millions of miles per hour (Solar). Solar energetic particles
are released by shocks at the front of Coronal mass ejections and solar flares. When a
coronal mass ejection flows through the solar wind, high velocity solar energetic
particles are produced. They are charged so they follow the magnetic lines
between the Sun and Earth (Solar). Flow of charged particles called solar wind
(Bergman). Space is filled with magnetic fields which controls the solar winds
(Bergman). High speed solar winds flow through coronal holes that can form
anywhere on the sun and usually only affect the Earth when they are near the solar
equator. The winds range from 800,000 to 5 million miles per hour, carrying a
million tons of matter from the Sun every second with a bout 100 particles per cubic

The Development Of New Zealand
New Zealand is a country which for the most part is made up of hills and
mountains area. These hilly and mountainous natures cover about 18 million
hectares in land. This means that about 69% of the country land has slopes greater
than 12В°, and got the country to be nicknamed the hill country . This 69% hilly
land is further divided into two based on the sloppiness of the land. The land with
slope between 12 28В° is called hill land ; thus, the land whose slope exceeds 28В° is
themed steepland (DSIR 1980). The diversity in New Zealands hill country physical
regimes creates ranges of slope and altitude, coupled with a extensive latitudinal
range, a mid oceanic setting surrounding the subtropical with cooling moderate
climates, and complex geologic and tectonic regimes. As a consequence of this
diversity, the productive potential of New Zealand s hill country, and its response to
climatic events, created the use of sustainable land us act to be used across the
country.
Out of these 18 million hectares, 6.3 million hectares in the North Island
comprises of majorly soft rock and crushed soft rock terrain (Mclvor, Douglas,
Dymond, Eyles and Marden. 2011). About 23% of the 18 million is made up of
volcanic ash and loess mantled terrain comprises largely on the periphery of the
Central Volcanic Zone. Also, 14.5% of the available land is Hard rock hill country,
which is exclusive of the igneous hard rock is largely strenuous on the margins of the
axial ranges. Whereas the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Working At Home
Nowadays, a lot of housewife who do their work from home. The number of
housewife who prefers to work from home is increasing. Either it is a part time job
or a full time job. Maybe it is because of there are many chances in the market. They
can also set up the environment same as office from home easily. In this essay, I
will discuss about the advantage and disadvantage of working at home and
propose my personal opinion. The advantage which I would like to share is the
employee can learn more and become more independent. It is because if you don t
have colleagues, a leader or a tech team to teach you or help you, you ll have to
find out yourself the way to settle your problem. By looking for your own answers
you will becoming more proactive to find what you need on your own. But, you
still can ask questions and get help if you need to. Besides of that, you can do a

If you work at office, you will feel tired when you reach home. Working at home
you can have more times to play games with your children. Working at home means
that housewife gets to plan how she can dedicate a portion of your quality time
with her loved ones. She can also probably save on elder children s care
arrangements. For younger children it is probably impractical to forgo proper
childcare arrangements and try to balance care and supervision with the demands
of the job. This is the best time to do it. If housewife take care of her children while
working, she will face plenty of distractions when she is working alone. The thing
about working from home is that a lot will be placed in front of you because you
are at home all the time. You might have to get off an important phone to call to
attend your kids or do the laundry or something urgent that comes at home. Finishing
all your chores is needed but you must remember to keep away from all kinds of
distractions if you want to become the
Survival In Shawshank Redemption
Conflict, pain, and struggle compose the gritty truth that walks beside everyone in
life and opens the door to death. Many will succumb to this unnerving truth, while
others will fight with a passion to survive. In most situations, survival may sound
like the only reasonable option. However, survival has proven itself to be both a
primitive instinct and a tenuous dream. The immensity at which this struggle
occurs, makes it a very real and predominant issue that is transparent in many
artistic works such as Man s Search for Meaning, Shawshank Redemption, and The
Book Thief. The characters in these works survived their many perils of
imprisonment by finding meaning, grasping hope, and having a will to live on.
Firstly, Man s Search for Meaning, by Viktor E. Frankl, illustrated the many
struggles that come with living in a concentration camp. In this book, Viktor Frankl
also described that he lost his manuscript that contained his life s work and he stated
that my deep desire to write this manuscript anew helped me to survive the rigors of
the camps I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hope is also an incredibly motivating factor which has been proven by the movie
Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont. In this movie, Andy was wrongfully
imprisoned for murder. In prison he faced many challenges, such as violence and
the many struggles of prison life itself. Despite all of this, Andy was able to
survive because he had hope in his future. In the movie, Andy spoke to Red about
his dream of one day owning a boat and running a hotel down in Mexico. With this
hope, he was able to dig a tunnel through the wall of his cell and escape the prison
in order to chase this dream (Darabont). This hope not only helped him to survive,
but to conquer. It is due to his hope that he was able to survive every day and push
for his dream to become a reality. In this movie, hope has proven to be a great

The Contamination Free Production Process Of The
Future...
There is an impressive argument to made by some critics that the semiconductor
industry considers the contamination free production process of its state of the art
semiconductor wafers, paramount to that of the future health and safety concerns of
its labor force. Does this argument stand? Does there in fact exist a hostile
environment for the industries microchip production workers and could it play a
secondary role to the concepts of innovation and profits? Could the handling of
known toxic materials in the microchip production process and their effects on the
human body, conveniently be overlooked, in an attempt to fulfill the industry s
primary directive of advancing technological insight in accordance with Moores law
18 month cycles? This industry is highly innovative and knows that every 18 months
the amount of transistors which can be etched on to a silicon wafer increases, thus
chip performance doubles and so does the potential profits. This results in technical
development which at times can be so fast that it s difficult to keep up with advances
and fully examine them. And what is even worse is that you can add to it the fact,
that it is common practice and procedure among the semiconductorchip producers to
contain their production processes as a form of trade secret in order to advance their
own technological breakthroughs. It is not difficult to identify the potential health
hazards experienced by those who are involved in the occupation of semiconductor
wafer

Define Essay. College Essay: Definition essay writing

  • 1. Define Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Define Essay" might seem deceptively simple at first, but the intricacies and challenges involved become apparent upon closer examination. The task demands more than just a superficial understanding of the term; it requires a comprehensive exploration of its various dimensions, historical context, and evolving nature. To begin with, defining an essay is not a straightforward task, as the concept has evolved over time and takes on different forms in various academic disciplines. One must delve into the origins of the word 'essay,' tracing its etymology and understanding how it has transformed from its early meanings to the contemporary understanding. Additionally, the challenge lies in balancing the theoretical and practical aspects of the essay. Exploring the theoretical framework involves understanding the fundamental elements of an essay, such as the introduction, body, and conclusion, and the role each plays in conveying ideas coherently. However, it goes beyond structure – the essay form embodies a certain style of thinking and presenting arguments that require careful consideration. Moreover, the difficulty intensifies when one attempts to capture the essence of an essay as a literary genre. The diversity within the essay form, ranging from personal reflections to scholarly analysis, makes it a challenging task to pinpoint a singular definition. This requires navigating through the works of influential essayists, understanding their unique contributions, and recognizing the nuances that distinguish essays from other written forms. Furthermore, the evolving nature of the essay in the digital age adds another layer of complexity. With the advent of online platforms, blogs, and multimedia essays, the traditional boundaries of the essay are continually expanding. One must grapple with the implications of these changes and how they shape the contemporary understanding of the term. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Define Essay" involves navigating through the intricate layers of its history, structure, literary aspects, and contemporary adaptations. • 2. The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. Now I will analyse if those three cases are likely to be happened in this situation. In relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that it depends on the judges to decide

Cover In Frankenstein Georgia Kavanaugh Gr 12 ENG LIT Hanson INTRO: The phrase do not judge a book by its cover is a widely recognized idea the majority of people keep in their peripheral mind when introduced with a new idea. The initial perceptions we make solely on someone s outward appearances are out of our control, as it is a natural connection our brain makes between presentation and character. Though we cannot control what we instinctually comprehend, keeping an open mind is important, especially when meeting someone new. In the works Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, the physical appearances of our main antagonists, Erik, and The Creature , are difficult to overcome for the average soul. When The Creature first rises from dormancy, he is promptly turned away by a fearful Frankenstein who locks himself in his room. (pg. 35 36) He is shamed into living in solitude, fearful that he will be ostracized if he attempts to set foot on the surface. Over the years of tormenting those who reside in the Opera house, he earns the reputation of opera ghost due to his unseen and spectral nature. It is shown in numerous occasions that even referring to him as opera ghost is somewhat taboo. (p.14) As a result of their unfortunate upbringing, Erik and the Creature grow to resent humanity for its poor treatment of them. In the Creatures case, a couple specific instances stand out which fuel his desire for revenge. When he reveals himself to the De Lacey family, he is attacked and forced to flee for his own safety as well as theirs. He soon returns, only to find the cottage empty. He proceeds to burn it down out of hurt and rage. This is a good example of his explosive nature, and how he is compelled to act on his emotions rather than use logic. • 6. The Concentration Of The Wastewater where M1 is the molarity (concentration) of the wastewater, V1 is the amount of titrant used to reach a neutral pH, M2 is the concentration of the titrant used, and V2 is the total amount of titrant used as calculated in Figure 1. As Table 8 shows, the calculations were consistent with the qualitative analysis of concentration formerly explained. For example, the olive oil had the most concentrated wastewater at 10.25 M while detergent I and vegetable oil had the least concentrated waste water at 2.5 M and 3.6 M, respectively. Just like all the other results, these titration analyses could be due to the improper formation of soap due to a lack of heating again, as previously explained. Then, there was detergent II which started with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A 1M concentration of each was used in the titrations when a 6 M concentration should have been used. As a result, this caused the calculated concentrations of the wastewater to be higher than they otherwise would be. Looking at Figures 2 7, the titration graphs have an interesting curve. The change in pH appears to start slow, then almost instantaneously changes to the neutralized pH. For example, in Figure 2, the olive oil wastewater starts with a very basic pH. As hydrochloric acid is added, the graph appears to slowly move down the Y axis, meaning the pH is decreasing as well. Suddenly, around the time when about 0.33 units of hydrochloric acid had been added, the graph drops steeply to the acidic pH values and plateaus at the acidic pH of about 1.4. The vegetable oil waste water s titration curve in Figure 3, the crisco waste water s titration curve in figure 4, the lard waste water s titration curve in figure 5, and the detergent I waste water s titration curve in figure 6 all display the same described pattern as olive oil waste water s titration curve. In figure 7, the detergent II waste water s curve follows the same general pattern but is reversed. The graph starts at an acidic pH since the detergent II s waste water was acidic. Then, it increases slowly at first and exponentially increases in pH with the graph showing a steep curve and eventually leveling out to a basic pH of about 12. The

Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why? I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds. 3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about them? Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids. It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the

Trujillo visits the school and a girl named Lina found special interest with him. And so he begins to perform and do wonderful things to make Lina fall in love with him. And no one can see past these nice gestures besides Sinita. If I were Lina she began, and her right hand reached out as if grabbing a bunch of grapes and squeezing the juice out of them (Alvarez 22 23). Squeezing grapes is not the most violent way to show anger. But it s the action that was taken. Whenever Sinita thinks about Trujillo she can not help but think about how he has destroyed her family. So Sinita starts to share, and Minerva, Elsa and her begin to visit Don Horacio. And talking illegally about starting the revolution. To take down the dictator Trujillo. Macbeth was considered the dictator of Scotland, when he was in reign. And he has had enough and is no longer being the nice guy. He is acting now only on his emotional thoughts and ignoring his logical response. The very firstlings of my heart shall be / The firstlings of my hand (4.1.167 168). Macbeth says these lines right before he commands the cruel and unnecessary murder of the Macduff family. Macbeth now begins to reign with an iron fist and Scotland as a country begins to die while under his throne. For Macbeth to act no longer thinking and react to things by murdering people is showing a lot of strong emotions that are not being put to their best use. Pretty soon Macbeth might make a decision he may regret. I

The pill is taken orally after unprotected sex has already occurred. The pill can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex. The pill is available both over the counter or with a prescription. The pill stops the ovary from releasing an egg and being fertilized by the sperm. However, this method has many disadvantages. The morning after pill is only 89 percent effective at preventing pregnancyand it becomes less effective over time. It can also be very expensive, and it does not work if ovulation has already begun. Breastfeeding as birth control, also known as lactation amenorrhea method (LAM), only works for women who have recently given birth and are currently breastfeeding. This method can last up to six months after giving birth and is free, safe, and natural. While women are breastfeeding, their bodies neglect to release the hormone that releases an egg from the ovary, and if there is no egg to fertilize, pregnancy cannot occur. This method is very effective, with less than 1 out of 100 women becoming pregnant if they are breastfeeding for at least 4 hours out the day. This method also has no abnormal side effects and does not require any prescriptions or visits to a doctor. (Birth Control Methods) Apart from the many methods of birth control methods, there is also a certain amount of controversy that surrounds the topic. The controversy tends to center around Planned Parenthood and the use of emergency contraceptives. There are many individuals and even some corporations that oppose birth control for religious reasons, stating that the use interferes with God s Plan.

For this assignment, I have gathered data spanning from 2005 to 2015 to analyze importing and exporting between the United States and Thailand. By using the two databases OTEXA and UN Comtrade database, I was able to identify trends in terms of both units and US dollars. Otexa Overall, the United States consistently imports more textiles than apparel from Thailand and the amount has considerably decreased over the 10 year span. In terms of Textiles, 1,051,815,014 units were imported from Thailand in 2005, which was the most in all 10 years. • 12. Obstacles Of Christian Growth According to the 2011 India census there are approximately 28 million Christians (Knapp). This number equates to about 80% of the total population of Canada. To some this would seem that Christianity is flourishing in India. However, the total population of India is 1.25 billion; Christianity only makes up approximately 2.2 per cent of the entire population, while Hinduismmakes up 79.8 per cent and Islam 14.2 per cent. Further, since 1951, there has not been a significant increase in the rate of Christians when compared with the total Indian population as it has hovered around 2.3 per cent (Knapp). It is worth noting however that since 1951 the total Christian population in Indiahas grown from around 8 million people to the 28 million it is today (Knapp). It has since been over two thousand years since Christianity was first introduced to India by Thomas, the apostle; it can be argued that Christianity has had a difficult time flourishing as it is a very distant third as the religionof choice in India. This paper will discuss some of the obstacles that have challenged the growth of Christianity in India. These obstacles include; the historically entrenched caste system of India, the strong belief in the secular state and the persecution of Christianity. Although, these obstacles are formidable and may never be totally overcome, Christianity can still grow and be a mainstay in Indian society. However, more than likely it may not be able to usurp the power that Hinduism and

The theme of decadence in The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde Staring from the definition found in the dictionary, the decadence is a literary movement especially of late 19th century France and England characterized by refined aestheticism, artifice, and the quest for new sensations. A strong element related to the decadent movement is the dandyism, the social phenomenon, meaning a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self.[5] A first determination of dandyism is shown when old Lord Fermor says to his nephew Henry Wotton Well, Harry, what brings you out so early? This is because it helps them get a more detailed picture of the patient s oral health overall. 3. Periodontal Exam Another thing to expect during the dental implant examination is a periodontal check. This is done to determine the condition of your gums. It is not advisable to perform a dental implant procedure if a patient has gum disease. First, the endodontist will have to develop a treatment plan for the gum disease. After restoring the gums health, then the dental implants can be

The World Of Computer Systems INTRODUCTION TO PROBLEM Today s world of computer systems are used by large set of individuals across organisations either collocated or distributed geographically. This has decreased the level of trust as compared to the past where there were small set of users entrusted in an organisation (Van der Geest G J, 2008) . In a bid to make sensitive data and infrastructure secured from unauthorized users, a security policy is developed by the system administrator of the organisation in other to control who gets in , who does what and who sees what . This duty has seemed to be one of the difficult problems faced by the admin and could turn out bad If not controlled properly (Kizza, 2009). However, due to differences in geographical ... Access control is a process of monitoring information flow from unauthorized users with the aid of some rules and methods and has been in practice for a long period of time. Access control is a system that enforces demand or request to system data and resources through the means of authorization. This policy has been a major issue in resource management since early 1960s ref. with main objectives of protecting system resources from unauthorized users. In this report, some of the types of access control models and the security threats they impose will be discussed below. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) model is a user based kind of policy due to its principle allowing any user to alter any information and user s data in the system based on their needs. DAC allows users to use their discretion to access files or programs in the system without following any predetermined policies. This makes the system vulnerable to Trojan horse attacks and other form of viruses which can lead to leakage of data and loss of information (Vincent C. Hu, 2006). This approach of access control is not a reliable one for an administrator keen to secure sensitive information. In the aspect of network outside the perimeter and mobile collaboration in distributed environments, this model poses a lot of damage in the

The Biography Of Wi Fi Signals In the world of IT, there are many pioneers that helped contribute to the way we use technology today, from early ideas of what a computer could be way before one was actually made, to the inventor of Wi Fi signals. In this report I will be discussing 6 of them and evaluating which is the top pioneer . Firstly, Augusta Ada King Noel, known as the Countess of Lovelace was an English Mathematician and writer during the 19th century. Born in London on the 10th December 1815, she was the only true child of the poet Lord Byron and Anne Isabella Milbanke (his wife) as all of his other children were born to other women who were not married to Byron. Lord Byron left England shortly after Ada s birth and eventually died in the Greek war of Independence 8 years later. Due to her late husband s actions Ada s mother decided to promote mathematics and writing to Ada to help prevent her getting the insanity Anne believed Lord Byron had suffered from. Later, in 1835 Ada married William King, who three years later became Earl of Lovelace, giving Ada her title of Countess of Lovelace . After furthering her education with scientists such as: Andrew Crosse and Sir David Brewster, as well as author Charles Dickens to become an Analyst, she met fellow British mathematician Charles Babbage through her private tutor. They developed an ongoing friendship and working relationship while famously working together on Babbage s work on the Analytical Engine. An example of her work on this
  • 38. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Cushing s Syndrome Abstract Cushing s syndrome is an endocrine disorder resulting from excess levels of cortisol in the blood. The etiology can be exogenous or endogenous, which can be further broken down into adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) dependent and independent. The pathogenesis of Cushing s syndrome depends on the cause, and generally results in the disruption of the normal functioning of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Cushing s syndrome is characterized by a variety of signs and symptoms, and treatment varies depending on the etiology. Currently research is being conducted on diagnostic tests for this disorder. Introduction Cushing s syndrome is an endocrine disorder that is characterized by multiple signs and symptoms resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Endogenous Cushing s syndrome results when the high levels of cortisol originate from within the body. The most common causes of endogenous Cushing s syndrome are adrenal, pituitary or ectopic tumours. These tumours lead to a disruption of the normal functioning of the HPA axis. Exogenous Cushing s syndrome results when the high levels of cortisol in the blood is a direct result of some factor outside of the body, such as the administration of therapeutic steroids (Bronstein 2011). The endogenous component of Cushing s syndrome can be further broken down into ACTH dependent and ACTH independent. ACTH dependent causes account for the majority of cases (80%) (Bronstein 2011). Pituitary adenomas account for 80% of ACTH dependent causes, with the remaining 20% resulting from ectopic tumours. These ectopic tumours are generally small cell carcinomas of the lungs, but may also result from endocrine tumours on a variety of organs (Newell Price et al. 2006). ACTH independent causes typically result from various tumours on the adrenal glands, resulting in the direct secretion of cortisol into the blood. In extremely rare cases, ACTH independent Cushing s syndrome can be caused by corticotropin independent macronodular adrenal disease and McCune Albright syndrome (Newell Price et al. 2006). Pathogenesis Once a diagnosis of Cushing s syndrome is confirmed, the cause of this syndrome must be determined. Each subsequent cause has

However, some traditions often cause us to not see the rationality despite of the destructive nature it may have. In Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery , a sacrifice of one s life becomes the jackpot of an annual event held in a small town. This society s traditions have caused the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they have become so stuck in their own cultural beliefs. In some towns, the lottery takes nearly two days and must be started on the 26th. This states that they want to get this completed so they can return home with their families and have a family lunch. Relaying no emotion to the fact that death is the outcome of this whole ordeal. In the film The Lottery the setting is more modern and appears to be in the 1960 s even. You are able to identify this due to the articles of clothing they possess, the way the towns people do their hair and make up in some sort. Another clue is the shops out front of the town square, compared to the short story; it was led to believe as if none of that had come into place at the time. Also the area seems to be more industrialized than a rural town would be i.e. automobiles. It is never clear as to what day it may be until the characters give dialogue of the other towns having to start the lottery a day ahead June 27th. The town s people seem to have much more concern and empathy in the film rather than the short story because of the emphasis they put on the characters faces and their dialogue. Could the handling of known toxic materials in the microchip production process and their effects on the human body, conveniently be overlooked, in an attempt to fulfill the industry s primary directive of advancing technological insight in accordance with Moores law 18 month cycles? This industry is highly innovative and knows that every 18 months the amount of transistors which can be etched on to a silicon wafer increases, thus chip performance doubles and so does the potential profits. This results in technical development which at times can be so fast that it s difficult to keep up with advances and fully examine them. And what is even worse is that you can add to it the fact, that it is common practice and procedure among the semiconductorchip producers to contain their production processes as a form of trade secret in order to advance their own technological breakthroughs. It is not difficult to identify the potential health hazards experienced by those who are involved in the occupation of semiconductor wafer
