La épica medieval aparece con los juglares; ellos se encargan de llevar
de pueblo en pueblo los cantares de gesta, como el POEMA DE MÍO
CID, una de las obras imprescindibles de la literatura española. Su valor,
histórica y culturalmente, es incalculable. Analizamos ahora el POEMA
DE MÍO CID y estudiamos sus características, tema, fecha, autor,
estructura y estilo.
3. LA LITERATURA EN LA
EDAD MEDIA!
Tiene unas características peculiares. Aparecen los primeros
textos escritos en un español todavía algo indeciso y que,
poco a poco, va tomando forma. La literatura española nos
ofrece grandes obras que servirán de antesala a los gloriosos
autores del Siglo de Oro español.
Aparecen los dos mesteres, MESTER DE JUGLARÍA y MESTER
DE CLERECÍA y los juglares y trovadores son los encargados
de componer y transmitir las obras literarias.
4. ¿QUÉ SON LOS CANTARES DE
GESTA y EL MESTER DE
JUGLARÍA?
Se difundían oralmente y eran los juglares quienes
“cantaban” (es decir, recitaban y representaban) estas
hazañas en plazas y en castillos, por toda España.
Este oficio se llama mester de juglaría (trabajo de juglares)
y era una tarea ardua ya que, para atraer y mantener la
atención del público (de quien dependían para subsistir)
actuaban, recitaban, hacían juegos malabares, mímica,
tocaban algún instrumento, cantaban…
6. Cuando recitaban, los juglares usaban algunos recursos:
Llamadas de atención al público para captar su atención.
“Captaría benevolencia”, un tópico literario típico de la Edad Media, es decir, conseguir la
benevolencia del público mostrando, por ejemplo, una falsa modestia.
Gesticulación e imitación de voces.
Adverbios de presencia (“Aquí veis al héroe”) y referencias visuales (“Veréis moros y cristianos”).
Repeticiones que facilitan la memorización y la recitación, tanto del juglar como del público presente.
Predominan las oraciones simples y coordinadas, porque son más fáciles de recordar y permitan
improvisar mientras se recita.
Se usa el presente de indicativo para hacer más cercana la historia a los presentes.
Al final, se pide la soldada, es decir, un dinero por la actuación.

Las obras del mester de juglaría se
expresan en TIRADAS ÉPICAS, es decir,
series indeterminadas de versos de arte
mayor isosilábicos (de unas 16 sílabas, con
una cesura interna) y rima asonante
continua.

Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, el Cid Campeador.
Es el más antiguo de los cantares
conservados y el único que tenemos casi
