Deans Q&A summary
1. POTE DEANS Q&A LIVE
IMPORTANT POINTS
26 MARCH 2020
The complete video of the Livestream with all answers can be viewed on the EGSC
Facebook page.
Students are reminded that many decisions have not yet been made, or require
decisions/information from the Government.
EXAMS
● It is possible that the exam period may start later, and/or the semester will be
extended. The date of the exam period will be announced with sufficient time to
prepare the exams (minimum 4 weeks prior).
● Information from Course Directors about how their subject’s exams will take
place should be given within the next two weeks.
● The aim of the Ministry of Education and of the University is for every student to
finish their semester, but there is a chance that some students could lose a
semester.
● Not all exams are possible to do online, as they fundamentally require a practical
component.
● Prescheduled exams may still take place in August depending on how the
pandemic situation progresses. More information will come.
STUDIES (For course-specific questions, students should contact the Course Directors.)
● Resuming the semester after the break with week 8 was done with the aim of
finishing the semester in normal time.
● The University could hypothetically reopen before the Hungarian borders reopen.
● Subjects with practical components that cannot be completed via Distance
Education will possibly be held later, with a later exam. The possibility of
fast-tracked education of practical components is being explored.
● It is likely that there will be no more patient contact this semester.
● Students with 3rd Registration not able to complete the course due to pandemic
circumstances will not be considered as having failed the 3rd registration chance.
In this case there will be another chance to complete the course.
● The 20-40 Regulation remains in force, with some flexibility considering
pandemic circumstances.
2. TRAVEL
● The University encourages students to remain in Pécs for epidemiological
reasons as well as the risk of not being able to reenter Hungary in time to resume
studies or at all due to border restrictions.
Choosing to travel despite knowing this risk is the student’s responsibility, and
therefore no special treatment will be given if students miss out on contact hours
as a result.
● If you travel home, you must notify the University via a form found on the POTE
website: https://regisztracio.aok.pte.hu/hu/announcement-of-stay-abroad

Course Directors about trying to find alternatives for the placement.
PRACTICES
● Block practices
○ If part of the practice has been completed but the student cannot complete
the rest and these absences add up to more than can be accepted; the
credits will not be given.
○ If the practice cannot be performed the student can drop it.
○ If the practice cannot be performed and the student requires the credits to
finish the semester; they should contact the Course Director and practice
about alternatives (eg. laboratory work).

online.
