Teachers Teaching Teachers — One Story of Scale
Jeannine Huffman, a faculty member at Teachers College of San Joaquin,
enrolled in a 21st Century Notebooking workshop at the Tech Museum of
Innova9on in San Jose in June 2014.
Since then she has introduced paper circuitry, note booking prac9ces and
resource materials created by NEXMAP to more than 400 teachers in
hands-on professional development sessions; she’s shared the same
projects with more than 300 youth; she has published on the work; and as
a STEM ambassador for the region, she’s presented it to superintendents in
five coun9es (Merced, Toulomne, San Joaquin, Alameda, Sonoma) – and
she’s the author/engineer for Hack Your Notebook #4 on Servos!

OPEN DATA/OPEN MINDSI
ODOM is a prototyping ini9a9ve that explores the possibili9es of
connected learning, fabrica9on, open data and civic
engagement. We’ve prototyped a connected notebook using a
Wi-Fi dev board from Par9cle.io: the notebook records the
height of the 9de in real-9me, pulling informa9on from the
internet into the notebook. A simple set of parallel circuits
register the height of the 9de whenever the circuit system —
and the notebook — is on a network.
